I have seen Ed Thigpen "warm up" for 45 minutes, before a concert with Oscar Peterson at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. An incredible professional!

Used to see Lockjaw a lot in the old days and some of the venues were small pubs in the Manchester area.

A Train and Just Friends--great jazz standards, but taken this fast they just don't swing like they can--even just a tad slower. I don't know why Jaws is putting the rhythm section thru these paces. Too fast for intelligently constructed solos. This is the reason Thigpen left Oscar after many nights of wear (I remember when he'd drop his hands to his side, and leave only his hi-hat in motion, catching every off-beat--not easy, and probably not sustainable.

Atze, Where have you been hiding up to now? You haven't been listening to jazz, that's for sure. Ed Thigpen was a died in the wool jazz drummer, man, always was up to his death. Highly regarded, he was with pianist, Oscar Peterson's band for a very long spell.
