3 out of 6 fish that I got turned out to be females
We have a similar situation 😂 I have 2 females holding eggs in a separate tank at the moment. Keep us updated with how you get on as I'll be following to get as much information as possible haha!
I’m just riding the wave with what I’ve got and hoping for a decent outcome 😂. Fingers crossed it works out for both of us!
@@TheFinalTankBoss haha! Same as that buddy! I've only had my Malawis a few months as well 🤣 hopefully raising geophagus, and a few angels etc will help me 🤞
Deffo looks like OB fry i think the Apache is still holding. I have a problem with Yellow Labs breeding like mad in my main display tank and several survive to adults just on flake. crushed pellets and chips they find at the bottom of the tank, im just a hobbyist but i think the small tank you got them in looks ideal for fry.
@@JustDanUK Yes when I had Mbunas they all bred like crazy and the fry grew up quite well without removing them from the main display. I’ve had to remove these because of my predator haps. They made short work the last time one of the females spit in the tank!
Hey brother!!! I guess i am first here🫣. Btw love your videos mate. Recently discovered your channel enjoying a alot. Keep up the good work, i am getting my shipment soon i hope they arrive healthy & vibrant🤙🌿
@@kuchbhi5066 Thanks a lot! They tend to ship quite well. Quite hardy fish. Hope you get some good ones!
Have you tried White Crane for coloration? I’ve been mixing it it with higher quality foods and my haps and peacocks look amazy
@@SterlingConsultantsLLC 100% I need to try this!
OK I do have the bare gravel and plastic plants but I do have real rock work 😄 and I did start out with simple fish. Why are you reading our minds🤪 Now I have Kenyi, labs, a yellow rock krib, zebras, peacocks, and one dark blue guy I can’t identify😊 not much aggression, but they’re still young.. my female Kenyi is tank boss (but I have a red zebra that is currently vying for that position). Mbuna are definitely more aggressive, but I chose the least aggressive, leasst dominant fish in the pet shop aquarium; and I got them all together, and I think that might be why they get along so well. The smallest in my tank is a peacock, and he does have a hard time going anywhere and swimming like he would like to..nobody nips him but he’s fearful. I have actually tried to pull him out, but he won’t let me catch him. and yes, I now have like 15 aquariums because I keep going bigger 😆
15 aquariums! Wow! How long does water change day take?
great tips
I had the same a few months back, I had all males supposedly, turned out 3 out of 10 was females and all spawned at same time, now I’ve got 2 extra tanks full of babies 😂
Complete nightmare!!
I heard the hormones will make it so the males don't reach their full color potential..... Would love to be able to get an Apache, none in my area though :/ :) I still have a lot of females in my 🦚&Hap tank I just pull the mom out as well
Subbed , beautiful tank
is this in a bedroom?...what a great thing to watch while resting
Yes. It’s mega. 1st time I’ve had 1 in the bedroom. No regrets so far
I have a nightmare about sawing bogwood while it's in the tank :(
1/10 experience. Do not recommend!
If they were naturally occurring 🤔 Would you like them ?:)
@@andrewderksen3342 I think maybe I would. I think they are really good looking fish. Some OB displays are incredible. I just feel like I haven’t got the original model when I have them. It’s like loving Game of Thrones but not getting into the spin off series because it’s not the same. It’s the best way I can describe it😂
@@TheFinalTankBoss I agree :)👍
wow nice idol ❤️
Love this fish Took me 8 months to finally get 2 from my local store ( Always out of stock ) :/ I recently added a full grown sunshine 🦚 to my peacock & Hap tank And my 2 sunshines & my dragon blood ( half the size ) Almost killed the newbie 😢🫣 I was able to save him just in time 👍
One of my all time favourites this one. What a nightmare. These fish are so unpredictable!!
I use at least one wave maker in all my tanks Fish like it 👍
Ya i have to drive 1.5 hours to find a shop that have whole rooms of chiclids Worth it though 👍
@@andrewderksen3342 Wish I had one near me. Any good recommendations?
Excellent video 👍 I fast my 🦚&haps every Sunday Then give them peas 🫛 to help clear out their system 😊
Origin Aquatic cichlid foods are top quality & give excellent results.
@@alistairmacdonald2634 This looks awesome. I’ve not seen this before. I’ll definitely give it a try!
Nice to know what others feed their fish, try mixing the food with garlic guard to softern it, they love it and the garlic is good for them.
@@chefsteve8381 Yeh I’ve been meaning to give this a try. I’ve heard it has lots of benefits for the fish and switches up the flavours.
From miami. Like your videos. Do it more often.
@@unrulyboss411 Appreciate it man ❤️
Interested on your baffles, what kind of baffle did you use? Were they fixed with silicon?
@@iamvinceong6493 yes. I used glass baffles. The sump was originally set up for a marine tank. I removed the glass baffles and relocated them using aquarium safe silicone. Some appear acrylic, as the sump originally had a refugium. Black acrylic is siliconed to these baffles to prevent light escaping and algae growing in the return section.
Can I put zebra, Amatitlania nigrofasciata with african malawi cichlids in the same aquarium?
@@M.King826 convict Cichlids do have similar water parameters to African cichlids. I wouldn’t do this just based on the different hierarchy’s these fish establish in comparison to Malawis, but I can’t see any issues with this if done correctly.
@@TheFinalTankBoss Thanks
Can you do a feeding video like what food you are feeding your fish and what food is the best
No problem!
It's still HD, not 4K ~
Hey, Thanks for the heads up! Not too sure why this one has failed to upload in 4K. I need to think about changing the title! 😅
Nice👌👌👌👌
Great video. I've got a 2000l system including 600l sump. My tank is heavily planted and runs CO2. I do drink about 1 5kg of CO2 per month which equates to £20 but I believe it's worth it for the results. My weir into the sump is piped below the water surface of the sump to and into a filter sock which I believe minimises the air exchange. Just saying planted sump tanks can be done successfully but I agree it's not as economical as a canister system
@@MarkBritland awesome! I think if I had made some tweaks to my sump set up I could of reduced the amount of CO2 I was using on my planted set up. I was also using a maxspect gyre in that set up to add some flow but the surface agitation that created, enhanced the gas exchange along with the sump. I love the sump set up. My planted tank was rather successful. It was just the really finicky plants I couldn’t get tot take off. But I agree, you can definitely still have a successful planted aquarium using the sump
Watching you from Africa Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 thanks
I didn't rate that filter i got rid of it within a couple of weeks and got myself a fluval 407 for roughly the same price much better flow and filtration.
Yeh the 407 is awesome. What sort of issues did you run into with this one? I havnt set it up yet so would be great to know what to expect
@@TheFinalTankBoss was the flow I wasn’t overly impressed with.
Yes, in regard to cichlids, scape per what they like best. Mbuna need caves, peas/haps need open swimming space. If you put caves in haps/peas, they will become territorial. Not all cichlids like caves. Can find some nice fake plants that can help vreak the line of sight at a craft store. They look real. Just get the thick plastic omes, not the fabric
@@antsan9779 absolutely. I’ve even had peacocks and haps claim heaters in tanks as their territory when I’ve not placed any rocks in.
OB Zrock, OB Blueberries, OB Azureus, OB Lwandas are great. Nice color to add. Since they are hybrids and have that mbuna in them, they tend to be more aggressive. Not all of them are but it shouldnt be a surprised if they are.
@@antsan9779 ok Z-rock would be Kool 👀
Great video again , I have a couple of these mixed with my mbuna and they pop with them
@@peterboroughkoi6084 They really are a great addition to an African Cichlid tank. And some are absolutely stunning. Have you had any aggression issues with yours? The one I have now is really chilled, but the last 3 before were real assholes.
@@TheFinalTankBoss they really are and no aggression, as they are smaller then my mbuna but my mbuna I go for the more chilled out ones then aggressive like yellow labs and a few others
@@peterboroughkoi6084 yeah most Labs don’t cause any issues in all honesty. They are a really placid Mbuna. I’ve never had any problems whatsoever keeping these.
I recently brought 6 cichlids 2 days ago and they are not playing they are hiding and getting scared any solution and i give them oxygen flow only not bubble is it ok
This just could be a case of the fish settling into a new environment with other fish they don’t know, I dont think it would be a great cause for concern for the first couple of days. They may just be adjusting to a new environment.
@@TheFinalTankBoss and also why are my new African cichlids hiding while turning on light and and active when turning off light how can I make them active in light
@@SushantShrestha-ob6ro are you keeping MBUNAS or Peacocks?
@@TheFinalTankBoss mbunas
mbuna all day , just colours and they have such different characters
Agreed! Makes for better viewing. I also like the fact that some of the females still have a lot of colour with Mbuna aswell!
I agree , plus they don’t grow to big aswell plus you can have more aswell
Awesome idea it has given me a idea for my tank conservatory
They look even better in person. The camera doesn’t do it justice. The things I’d do for a tank conservatory!
@@TheFinalTankBoss I currently have two tanks in mine , one 240 litre and 180 litre and then I have a small 30 litre in my living room
@@peterboroughkoi6084 Awesome. What fish are you keeping?, I’ve just got a 24x24 shallow aquarium for a bargain. I’m going to turn it into something special. Still deciding what though. Don’t know weather to get some shell dwellers or do a planted set up.
