@@GhoulCorpze I used a traditional 9v power supply. A Dunlop one, I think. If it's not powering on, it could be the Pedal. It also needs the guitar chords plugged in.

They're built solid. It's a a Marshall after all. I know the JCM200 DSL had issues, but, they've corrected them in this and the follow up model.

If you have to run a seven band EQ through the effects loop then how good is this amp really?

@thearoom that can be a loaded question. How many guitarist run an overdrive into the front of Mesa Boogie/EVH/Friedman? Are they not good enough? It's all in personal taste. I dig the Marshall on its on, I dig it overdriven. The joys of guitar.

@ The amp as designed by Marshall is very good in my opinion. The tubes mounted to the chassis is good. The features and 2 channels and 4 modes is good. Even though the JCM800 and Plexi are very desirable and sound awesome, this amp is more advanced. Mine just so happens to have something not right, it’s why it’s in the shop. How many people use boost pedals and overdrives in front of their amps? I’ve heard plenty of these amps in a healthy state, they are very similar in tone to its predecessor the JCM 2000, and the DSL100HR which I also own is fantastic. It’s in the shop because I lack the expertise and equipment to determine what I don’t like. It works, the clean channel sounds good, something is just off. The EQ is a bandaid 🩹, so it’s not far off it’s just off. Show me an exotic super car that’ll do 200 mph, and I’ll show you one that tops out at 180 that just needs something. Which really shows how important an EQ is, it does more for the sound than any boost pedals and overdrives. Pick any great amp, and put an EQ in the fx loop and you can make it sound even better.

@@Okay-George I have the Digitech version on the channel. I could try the DOD one. They're usually inexpensive.

@@BeersnGearsOfficial if im not mistaken. digitech bought dod so its probally the same pedal just diffrent housing.. but idk that for a fact.

@Okay-George you're spot on. They reissued the dod pedals as their own. They had a few of them. They also redesigned a couple. Like the Hot Head by Digitech, that pedal us pretty great.

That is the worst pedal I have ever owned. No matter what I did with it, it would not produce an even manageable tone.

Great question that I haven't an answer for. There's not a lot of info on Crates. The g130c was prior to the gx130c. But, as far as sound differences, I'd assume it to be very small, if any.

@Dsbm_deathmetal_wtv let me backtrack... problem with Crates, theres a ton of variants. LOL. Sorry about that. I haven't played the g130c, but, the g130c xl is identical to the gx130c. I have a video comparing 3 heads together. I had this through a Randall cab with Eminence legend speakers.

Yeah, this was through the clean channel of the Marshall DSL100. Set a little warm, with little to no breakup.

@BeersnGearsOfficial Good! I think you got a killer tone. Im regretful i sold my Digitech DM pedal 2 years ago, i made 1 EP and 1 full lenght album with it. Connected directly to the audio interface. Sounded like a solid state amp with a LOT of low end and high end, kinda like a Rectifier (but with a solid state sound) but even more crazy.

@@BeersnGearsOfficial yeah mine was working good for several months after I got it but started getting random volume drops when the effects loop is being used.

@thiniceking12 I've heard of that issue. Definitely puts a damper on a bad ass amp. I've heard it's an easy repair.

If I were to change them, my go to bridge is a Dimarzio Super 2 or 3. Then some dual rails from Dimarzio in the neck & middle. Or True Velvet singles. To go active, Fishman Fluence.

Definitely would be. I have some shelves behind my guitars that hold my "top 12"... They're just up higher than I set the camera. I could clear the top of the workbench. We'll see.

Yeah, it could be. The tighter low end blurs the lines between fuzz & distortion.

@BeersnGearsOfficial I been looking for a preamp, but I'm not into metal at all. It's for a pedalsteel. I have a boss rv 70 for reverb and delay, and a bbe 462 just like yours. Looking for a real clean preamp, with a fender style clean tone.

@@Okay-George I haven't played the RG7421, but, I'd say it's better than the gio. Gio isn't bad, but, not the best.

You can definitely play thrash with these. The SD-1 is an amazing Overdrive, it'll definitely get you that thrash sound.
