Thank you so much! I was struggling for a really long time, fighting the cover.
THANK YOU! Didn't think I'd ever get that cover off
So yeah...even the pliers didn't work!! Disgusting
Thank you!!! This is ridiculous...idk who is strong enough to do this...argh!!!
Good clear description of the process. Thank you. Are you going to film and post further service tasks on this machine such as descaling boilers, replacing heating elements, etc?
I tried to do this. When I have the pliers on the cover, it seems that the pliers bind on the far side and keep the cover from sliding. I see that in the video, there's a cut between the time he puts the pliers in place and when he actually opens the cover. I'd like to see what was cut out. Maybe I'm missing something.
Thank You Ki Hoon Cho - after exerting great effort your instructions worked.
Thanks. I nearly dislocated my thumbs trying to get the damned thermometer open per the directions. I'll probably put a washcloth between the thermometer and the pliers to protect the plastic.
Kitchen knife blade and pry the cover off.
even better!
You don't need to cut the screen on the bottom. If you remove the four screws on the outside of the housing and remove the bottom screw on the plastic handle (4.5mm hex), the top should pull right off. (I recommend leaving the two larger screws in place and just loosening them. You'll see why.) The black plastic component holding the power cable in place is called a strain-relief bushing. The one I removed from my DataVac is marked 'HEYCO SR 5N-4'. If you search youtube for "strain relief bushing", you'll find some videos showing how people install and remove them. There's a short video posted by Abul Maleeh I found helpful. Using wire cutters, I cut off the old power cord as close as I could to the bushing, then squeezed the bushing with pliers and pulled it out of the housing. Once the bushing and power cord were out of the way, the motor and internals slid right out of the duster housing without any force. You don't need to remove that stuff to replace the power cable, though. Thanks for sharing your repair video! It helped me a lot.
Don’t recommend banging on the bottom. Can break couple components. I tried this method. Plastic parts and components broke in the inside. Never got the lid off. Trashed it. Will go buy a new one.
hahah found your video at last. I have the exact model and I was stuck on how to open it, having same issue that it wont turn on anymore!. Good thing your video just pop up on my YT feed!! Thanks again for the video!!
