I have had my Constellation Inspiration Pre amp and mono blocks for over two years and have slowly upgraded speakers, front end and cables - truly great gear and the sound is first class, I would rate my rig against many more expensive systems. I think I am unimpressed by constellation audio parts quality as well as build quality. I know they have some new amps where they have made fancy cases but it remains to be seen if the actual amplifier itself is really top shelf or not. They're original amps look like a bad hair day with wires going every which way and dubious parts quality and a fairly crappy case.

There's no amazing value for Audioquest and many other cables. They are overpraced.

CONSTELLATION website is saying everything still uses linear power supplies and toroidal transformers on the amps. Is this not updated yet?

There are 2 many variables for analog playback including the pick up , the arm and the deck .. how is one to know it is due to the phono stage unless there is an A/B testing ? So this sounds more like a promotional video for Constellation’s pricey phonostage..

I've tried and had Audioquest cables for 24 years and believe me they make a difference. It sounded like my system was better. - smoother with more detail and a greater sense of effortlessness. Especially compared to another cheaper brand.

Cool! Being a Basshead I am sure the way these pressurize a room is incredible. Not sure how practical 6 subs stacked with a pair of bookshelves would be? For the amount of real-estate this config takes I would just invest in a full range tower that can give me an in-room response around 20Hz. $17,394.00 plus bookshelf and stands would get you a lot of speaker.

WOW! Were you using the internal DAC of the node as well? The whole package sounds out of this world. I listened with headphones and could tell how open 6 subs can make a soundstage. I have to say I'm equally impressed with the node.

How does it compare to that ARC uint?

I love ARC gear, they just have the best electronics for my ears.

If you have a choice between the 507Z and a 509X, which one would you choose? The reason for my question is that I have found a deal in Japan, where I am offered a new 509X or a new 507Z for the exact same price, but I haven't heard either. I notice that the 507Z has a 4.4mm headphone jack, but I won't be using the headphone port.

one thing for sure. a regular shielded cable will do just fine. these cables with filters/signal boosters feel like a genuine rip off strat to me. the signal and extra bits of detail will come through regardless and depend more on the signal source & receiving speaker quality.

After some digging. I have come to know that the Totem Forest uses the Hi-Vi research D6.8. This transducer costs $ 169.00 Canadian.

KR Audio does the same when it comes to Auto Bias. Ayon too. Listen to both, they have more interesting sounding amps, some beat ARC in my opinion. And... when it comes to tube life... Only durability counts. In other words: How hard the circuit and amp is using the tubes, and in the case of KR what tubes you are getting for the amp. I prefer to have my Kronzilla tube sounding for 20 years and then just die without collateral damage, and without counting hours to tell you that you are getting "somewhere" Pure personal opinion, as always... Cheers!

installing a low power 5.1 amp isntead of a high power 2.1 amp is just dumb if you dont use all the channels. do people pay you fot this bad of a job or this hobby?

Good choices. I believe you should have included a recommendation for a cd player, but regardless that, you can built a pretty decent system with Triangle, Rel, NAD, Pro-Ject and Bluesound.

These are 2 great speaker options - I love both brands. It would be interesting to compare the two WITH a subwoofer and see how the optimization across the high, mid and low frequencies impacts the listening experience. Part 2 maybe?
