Honwave T38-IE (2021) & Tohatsu MSF6 (2020) Launching with wheels.
Honwave T38-IE (2021) & Tohatsu MSF6 (2020). Launching the my Honwave SIB on holiday in Newton Ferrers, Devon, England.
There has been a lot of comments asking about the launch wheels on my SIB and I've learned quite a lot on my summer holiday so thought this might be of interest..

    The Launch wheels are provided for the proper RAMP area to drop your boat effortlessly!!! Not to perform such an experiment like in this place. The Launch Wheels are very much useful for 90% of proper usage people.

      Yes agreed! I mainly got the wheels so I could mount the engine in the down position. I made a right pigs ear of it in the video, which is actually why I put in on TH-cam haha!

    Hello again , l would like to tell me about the thickness of wood floor how many mm is it ? Is it some how water resistant ? Thanks in advance.

      The floor isn't wood, it is high pressure inflatable. It surprisingly solid considering it is just filled with air!

    Why didn’t you pull the boat in backwards trolley the engine down the slip way and lift it straight from the trolley to the boat ?

      I think it would have run me over as soon as I lifted the bow. It was quite steep and I'd have been trying to hold back about 70kg in weight. It might have been doable with two people but don't think it would have ended well on my own.

    Thanks for the dose of reality. I was thinking the same thing; that I'd like 10hp, but at 66 years old, 100 lbs would be way too much. I was also wondering about how much effort it would take to bring the boat back up the ramp. I think I'll reduce the size of the boat that's in my head. Thanks again for the realistic video.

    You should install the engine first and than move the complete Ship in the water by holding it on the front. It is easier and not so dangerous (slippery).

    Keep the boat out of the sun when you don't use it. From an ex honwave owner who Will never buy own again! Seams came apart, tubes detiorated and went sticky. No amount of tube cleaner or uv seal would stop it.

    If that's a ramp you have access to every time consider rigging up some tackle with purchase to a tree or something else sturdy (perhas even a small electrical winch) so you can keep the engine mounted and not ever have to carry it. I am fairly fit and strong but also have two bulging discs and carrying an OB is a shortcut to trouble. Sorry, just saw it was on a holiday but will leave the comment standing.

      we reach 16mph with 6hp with one person. if you reach 15mph with 2 adults, that's ok. if it's with 1 person only, you got a problem

    Why do you insist to launch with engine down?

    • @siboffabeach3582
      @siboffabeach3582 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question! I mount it down because the outboard trolly can't take the weight in the up position, it will break if you don't rest some of the weigh on the outboards skeg (been there done that :( . Also if the trolley could take the weight and you picked it up like that, it means mounting it to the boat in the up position which makes the outboard really REALY heavy and awkward to handle. I'm not so much worried about launching engine down, it's just way easier to mount to the boat when it's down. Because my boat has wheels which extend beyond the prop shaft I always launch engine down as it's quicker and easier to do that first. If you trailer a SIB with an outboard attached you have to do it engine down to reduce the forces on the transom. So it's just easier to do everything engine down.

  • @dimitristripakis7364
    @dimitristripakis7364 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my opinion, all this trouble is worth it only if you plan to stay several days and have the boat moored meawhile. ( i.e. setup and pack up only once). For a single outing it is not worth the trouble. I owned a small sailboat and had the same issue. Now looking for a small inflatable like yours. And yes 10hp is 45 kg, while 6hp is 25 kg. The one is a highschool kid, the other is a 7 yo kid. Good for you that you did not buy the 10hp.

      Yeah I get were you are coming from... This was a holiday so it was assembled for the whole week. I was keeping the engine and boat separate as they were both nearly new so very attractive to thieves. I think it's worth it for a good day out though! Last time I took it out on the sea was a single outing. 1.5 hours drive each way, plus assembly and disassembly for about 4 hours on the water. Was so much fun I can put up with the hassle!! Not a good idea if you want to get out on the water regularly though.

    Thanks for the informative video and comments. I have just bought the same outfit from Bridger Marine in Exeter and looking forward to using it during the summer. Where are your favorite locations for launching and using your boat, I'm new to SIBs and always trailer launched larger boats before.

    • @siboffabeach3582
      @siboffabeach3582 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought my setup from Bridger Marine too! I've not used mine much since making this video which was in Newton Ferrers (not had much time since). I used it a bit more inland on the river Severn launching from Upton Marina. Hope to get some more time to use it soon. I had a river boat (Freeman 23) and a Caddy cruiser before but they cost a fortune to keep. My SIB has been in my garage pretty much since I videoed this and it's hardly cost me anything... lots of fun and low cost :D
