Downy Woodpecker - Eyes on Suet
This little Downy Woodpecker is not quite sure what to make of the watching eyes of this suet feeder. It keeps a close eye on it while feeding to be on the safe side.
Very similar to the Hairy Woodpecker the Downy is the smallest North American Woodpecker in size, and has a shorter bill.

These two Gopher Tortoises were in the backyard the other day. Apparently one of them was in the others territory. The battered Tortoise was not allowing the other any peace to graze until he had driven it for some distance. Then they both just went separate ways. The aggressor appeared to have a cracked shell. This female Ruby-throated Hummingbird is a daily visitor. She visits our fire bush every morning. Occasionally we will see a male but not on a regular basis. She will stick around most of the year either on the feeders or at various other flowers. The Chickadees beat the Bluebirds to this nest box this spring and set up house. I was able to capture some feeding and the first flight of a new chick out from the nest. I had a friendly cormorant as a kid in the Fl Keys. He loved to come swim when we were jn the canal and dive down with us, it was so much fun. Never fed him he just enjoyed swimming with us, almost like he got a kick out of seeing us try to do what he did. Will never forget him.

Back in the 90's I camped a lot at Jetty Park. I'd stay up most of the night watching a portable TV. I also would go out on the fishing pier to watch guys fish while I drank beer and chatted with them. This video brings back lots of memories. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for watching. This campground obviously had people that would feed the birds. Either that or they left items out, because they were all around and close by. Eastern Towhees, Cardinals, Catbirds, Mockingbirds and Thrushes.

I moved to Kentucky in 2016 and retired here. I wish I could visit that farm but my health took a turn for the worse shortly after we moved here. Maybe in the next life. 🙂

Very nice footage! I love White Ibises, and I have seen them all the time whenever I visit Florida, but never juvenile White Ibises. I also love the male Cardinal that showed up next to the Ibises, and the Fish Crows cawing offscreen. Thanks for sharing, Gary! 🙂🐦

This bird is in serious danger. Why did it leave your box early? Too hot? Predator?
Jack, thanks for watching and your concern. It was the last of 5 hatched. Not sure why it left the box, it is in a very secure location (see other videos). Initially I did place it back in box, but as I have read, they usually will jump back out, and it did. After that I let nature take its course. Watched it a couple days finding refuge and mom watching over it then they were both gone.
Haha.loves the bug breakfast but hates the competition.

Great shots! I live in Seminole and hear them all of the time, but rarely see them. I hope they don't eat my butterflies!
Jacob thanks. They are hard not to hear when they get wound up. I wish sometimes I didn't see them cause they love to fight my vehicle mirrors and make an awful mess. I have never seen them go after butterflies, only other flying insects.

Thanks nice, I rescued Palm Warblers in the past - nice to see a healthy happy one. A Freind & I rescue songbirds that hit the glass skyscrapers in Newark NJ, TRT made a video named 'Window Strikes in the Business District' of us picking up injured Warblers. In Newark most of the birds that hit the glass skyscrapers perish on impact, or when fall to the cement pavement. Yesterday we rescued a Pine Warbler ( I am not good at IDs, let TRT do that , as bring the injured to them and they take care of the injuries). These birds are better off in Florida, as Newark is a dangerous city for birds.
Thanks for watching and sharing rescuing these little creatures. We had a small flock of Pine warblers here but most have moved on, and got to see a couple yellow rumps. These are so cute. Just lucky at catching this one. Hoping they return next year.
@@gary_t FYI as I was thinking of your video today we rescued Pine warblers, and 1 Palm Warbler -- I had not realized how much smaller the Palm is until you see them together. Truly beautiful bird, he is still being nursed by TRT, when I picked him up he/she did not even open his eyes but I know TRT will do everything to make the little Palm comfortable as he recovers, the Pine Warblers must have just been stunned and needed a few hours of quite as TRT already released them.

Carolina Wrens are the most common backyard birds here in North Florida. They are doing well in neighborhoods and in woods alike. 👍
We have at least two year round and so much fun to watch flitting around the house. Usually not on feeder, but I have noticed them more and more there. Thanks for watching and the comments.

We are trying to put out a bunch of birdhouses we built. Will be putting them around in our wooded area. Love that you have a flycatcher nesting in one so close!
Yes was lucky enough to catch them but missed any fledglings. Also finally are getting a number of bluebirds interested in the bluebird houses after so many years putting them out. Good luck with yours, hope to see some great images from you.

At around 0:36, it looks like the Pelican was stretching and yawning soon after waking up, and again at 1:45, 1:57, and 2:11. So cute! 🥰🥱 This Pelican seemed like he or she was doing the equivalent of hitting the snooze button before starting another day. 😁😄 Thanks for sharing!
It did seem a while till it got fully awake and ready to leave it's perch. First time I have seen one awaken so not sure this is normal or not. I was surprised I did not spook it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
