Complete rewire and new Trispark electronic ignition. I bought the Trispark system to replace the old point and q quickly found out that it required 12v to work, I contacted the maker and they said they had issues and running the system with a capacitor. Oh shit problems as I'm running with only a capacitor as nd only generating just over 6volt!!!!!. A lot of head scratching and a shit load of ...

    The service manuals are wrong. Discovered this in the 1970s. The quadrant lever needs to be one tooth higher?/lower? than the manual shows. (It's been a few years since I did one) when fitting the casing otherwise the Cam Plate will not engage the gears correctly.

    Very useful, thanks. A forum mate of mine from the US has told me to index my gearbox in 3rd as its supposed to be much easier like you say.

    Hi; this clip popped up again; so what about the N switch? Do you have continuity on the switch in neutral notch? Or have the N light on? Sometimes shift all gears but the N protrusion there is not doing "earth"

    Hello; at about minute 3:00 is what I think your indexing problem is: You should place it in first gear the camplate then put the inner cover. BUT if you have a 79 with the neutral switch, you just let the camplate in N and put the switch pointer in place and just that. Regarding missing gear changes; well; if the parts are not worn out possibly you misplaced the round parts of the forks that are into the camplate grooves

    I also followed the instructions to the letter from the manual and still was/am having great difficulty selecting all the gears easily and reliably. Haven’t got the bike on the road yet this year but if I’m still not able to select said gears correctly I’m going to try your different method. So many thanks for taking the trouble to make, explain and upload a video of your method 👍👍👍

      Thanks for the comment. I hope it works for you, I ended up replacing the main shaft and layshaft, so had it all apart again and indexed again firsttime. Fingers 🤞 for you.

    This video was extremely helpful thankyou, replaced the switch and my christmas tree of dash lights is gone and brake lights now work again

    Looks a lot like how I picture mine when I rebuild it. Ive got an early wideline frame, a T140 engine, and the same design of tank. It was originaly built in the 80s and things like the seat design and battery tray in front of the oil tank date it. I plan on ditching the battery to free up space for the carbs. A nice cleaner more classic seat like yours. Electronic ignition with simplified wiring. Upgrade the original and useless SLS drum set up to a modest Norton 2LS. The engine and gearbox are still geeat but will likely pull it apart during the restoration/rebuild.

    The same.car I bought has from auction has a problem. The pedal goes up and down but car doesn't move. It's still parked in Welshpool. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

    Looks and sounds great....I have a T140E which is always reluctant to cold start once its warm its so easy but cold its a bitch..

      T140E is a nice bike👍. I have done a lot of work on her since that video and now she starts first kick every kick. I basically re wired her. New rotor and stator, trispark ignition, step up converter 6 amp to 10amp, single coil twin outlet and new capacitor and tons of trial and error😃😃. Now she goes great.

    Running lean? Does it start in 1 kick with the choke ?

      It was always a pain to start. So new stator & rotor, voltage regulator, trispark ignition, dc to dc step up converter and twin outlet single coil. Now starts first kick everytime even without choke👍👍

    I’m doing mine on my prado tomorrow. I haven’t removed the old one yet i’m trying to figure out the best way because the top seams pretty hard to get to. Do you need a spanner on the top or can you twist the unit from the bottom?

      Yes its not easy to get to. You twisr the switch clockwise and it can be removed easily, then installed the same way yet in reverse. The switch comes with a brown/bronze housing. This is what the switch fits to on the brake housing you can remove the old if you want ? I didn't it was to much fiddling around. Good luck n happy driving😀

      Easy to install, don't push the brake peddle when you install the new part. Otherwise you will install it to far and have the same problem.

      Part arrived it comes with like a brown plastic nut on it do I fit it buy taking the brown plastic nut of or leave it on and fit it thanks.

      The brake lights on my 120 were intermittent. I twisted the switch off (anti clockwise) and removed the plug. I opened it with a screwdriver and cleaned all the contacts. Put it back together and it works fine. There are 2 springs inside so be careful opening it.
