@claytocanopy might be a few weeks before I can - not sure I can get sand locally this time of year. If I do try it, I'll definitely report back on the results (would probably do borax recipe and the elmer's pre-made activator only - after I go through some of the other questions that were asked)

@@mariagalvan-dupree6804 you can get away with low fire if the nail is stainless steel however it becomes very brittle and can crack the clay around it. I’ve done it to make stilts in a pinch but they are only good for one go at a cone 05. It also gives off not so pleasant toxic fumes so I wouldn’t recommend it.

@@user-zm2ru4jy1g yes, the locktite will work great for that. It is a bit messy so definitely wear some gloves. Also, 5 minute epoxy isn’t really really 5 minute for ceramics. You’ll want to set it up so it can rest overnight. Blue painters tape can help hold things until the glue cures. Good luck & thanks for stopping in!

@@ChristinaOakley-v2d that’s good stuff. If it’s stone or has a glaze/gloss finish where you’re going to put the hanger, give it a bit of a gentle sand to rough it up and help the glue stick. Good luck and thanks for stopping in!

@@xSephironx given the size of your mold, I’d probably go with a non-reusable casting material. For large metal castings you mix sand with resin. It’s a process that could also work for the plaster though I’d recommend testing because resin may react funny with plaster. It all depends on the type of each you go with. This would make your mold a one time use situation, however a stand sand mixer would do the trick. If this is something you plan to make a lot of, I’d probably make the investment in rubber mold material. Smooth-on makes some great options.
