Restauration of a 1970 Willams Pinball "Dipsy Doodle"
I found this game in spring 2020 in my region,very poor condition,was not working for several years,missing keys, creditunit, bell and chime. cabinet and backbox partly painted over. backglass has some flaking.
Playfield in exceptional nice condition.
Now in technical 100% working order.
Rebuilt ALL electro mechanical units such as scoremotor, advance-,coin-,playercount-,ballcount- and creditunit,scorereels, aswell as several relais and DoodleBug unit.
Cleaned and adjusted where needed ALL contactpoints of all switches in cabinet,backbox under- and above playfield.
Rewired previous "mods",cleaned and sanded all plug-in connectors
Reinstalled new medium bell, chime unit, hold relais, creditunit, plumbtilt and tiltball.New center target.
Rebuilt all 5 popbumbers and both flipperunits with new parts.(coilsleeves,springs,bumperplates and bodies).
Cleaned playfield diligent,reworked where needed and waxed 5 times with hard wax.
Rebuild complete coindoorunit and lockbarmechanism after cleaning and polishing parts.New coindoorplates and priceplates
Polished all metal parts on playfield,lockbar,legs,bolts, shooterrod,playfieldsupportbar,tilt mountings.
New shooterrodhousing.
New lamps,80% leds backbox (several blinking) 20%playfield #47's.
New white silicone rubberringkit and mirror glazed pinball
New laneguides,new coin- and backbox locks.
I am working on replacing several damaged playfield plastics, especially the mostly broken centertarget plastic, scans and acryllic have already been made.
Allthough the machine is paintwise and backglass not in perfect or original condition,
i'm very much satisfied with the completed works, the impeccable gameplay and 100% technical working order.
Gameplay is nicely varied,challenging and plays very fast at times due to quick response of rebuilt pop's and flippers.
The Williams Dipsy Doodle is not a particular rare machine allthough specific production numbers are unknown, the machine is more often offered for sale on Dutch vending sites,but mostly not in very nice condition.
Commonly there is very heavy wear on playfield and backglasses are mostly flaking.
