Kamei Enoeda shihan was very real bushi in everything he did, my thanks OS's hanshi ,Andy Sheri, Terry O'Neil Frankbrand Miechela And the rest of KUGB. Shooking times Oos.
As the student with the brown belt that seem to be taking a lot of kick and punches in this video ! I can assure you it did me no harm. and made me more determined to understand budo, soon after this film was made I left for japan and stayed 20years studying all forms of budo, I owe a lot to Enoeda and Kato sensei for starting my journey. now as many in that film I'm 70 years old and still train, Plus off to Hong Kong and Okinawa this October 2017 to do more training as you never stop learning, I'm now a 7th Dan , Still enjoy training every day ! by the way new book out this year i know japan BUDO ISBN 978-4-931193-06-2 I get a mention in the back, As said by others great video nice to see old friends and faces .
If you note carefully he does not strike any vulnerable targets to cause injury. I would say that these strikes mainly serve to impart awareness to the student.
Hard CONTROLLED striking the students is an integral part of training in traditional Okinawan styles like Goju Ryu. So Enoeda Sensei perfectly legitimately decided to incorporate same in his instruction. Anybody who cannot take this, does not belong in a Karate class.
Amazing footage, I think circa late 60s. Andy Sherry is definitely in the group. But I am surprised to note people, including Sensei, wear their wedding rings during the training!!Enoeda Sensei's interest in horse racing was well known.
I just lost all respect I had for Enoeda. Don't know ho is the most stupid, the guy why kicks and punch his students or the students who just stands there and let him do it. I know its a way for testing focus and inner strength but that doesn't change the fact that its mad to do so. Karate should be fun and challenging. This is the wrong way.
All the punches and kicks are controlled. I think here the students are performing Sanchin kata. Its standard practice for students to be tested in that way (or it used to be) with Sanchin. Also the idea of practising a martial art, and not actually being hit would be rather odd in my view.
Thanks for sharing. Even though I live on the other side of the planet, I recognise a few of those karate people. One at the end (writing the diary) looks like Kato Sensei, then there's Bob Poynton, Terry O'Neill, Andy Sherry & the blonde girl would be Brinda (not sure of last name).
Great old film of a very young Sensei Enoeda; in Richmond Park, in the Blackfriars Dojo, Horse racing, and driving on a completely empty motorway. Japanese dialogue but still great stuff.
Ah Kato!

Woking Tora, BAC Byfleet. Great memories
A unique soul. All my love Sensei Tora.
4:57 , Don't mess with a man who can get kicked in the bollocks 3 times and still remain standing !

You have zero understanding of budo. An utterly clueless comment I'm afraid.
The kicks are controlled and do no harm to a martial arts student. A ping-pong player or other soft-core "athlete" might find them hard and painful.
Great stuff! One can sense his budo spirit by his expressions.

it is
2:18 looks like a young Dave Hazard
Is that Andy Sherry at 02:30?
Brilliant dojo footage
Sensei's first name has been misspelled. It should be "Keinosuke"
Kicks and hits to reinforce stance and hara. Oldstyle. Amazing
Any idea what year this was taken?
