Hi Helen --I bought new light box from Amazon for $20. It's flat and about an 8x10. Works wonders when stitching on black. I had an old one that was shaped like a box, the new one is so much better.

The sewing bag is simply gorgeous. So now I want to make one! Did you use the called for fabric & colors??

Today is my first visit, love your vintage sewing machines and your painted window is so pretty. I have a similar one with a mermaid painted by my beautiful friend Clarita, who used her face as the mermaid! So she watches over my art room bedecked with mermaids 🧜‍♀️

Cut a notch/triangle into the end of the ribbon and then add a thin strip of Fray Check glue.

Lovely finishes, Lisa! I have been struggling with stitching the over one on Miss Nettie’s Usefuls and I’m totally going to copy you and put something else in that spot that’s not over one. I also like your change in colors. It turned out so sweet!

I add a little white glue to the ends of my ribbons to keep them from fraying. Great video! I have been itching to stitch a case, have no time.

Lovely project folders. With the ribbon cut the ends diagonal that stops fraying most times.

You can buy fray check to add to ribbons to stop fraying. You only need a tiny dot and it dries clear, or I just tie a knot near the end. Love your folders, so pretty.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I love seeing other people’s experiences. It’s definitely all what works for each of us. I for example, never use a walking foot until the outer binding, but that is difference in machines I’m sure. It’s all about trial and error and you’re right, once it’s given a try, you find what you like and works for you! I realized before my latest pattern, I never put in the previous ones to add fray check to the ends of your twill or ribbon closures to prevent fraying. It’s now included 🙂 I too find Hobby Lobby felt to be good. I haven’t made a compadre with felt yet and yours looks great! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my cases, thanks again!
