Hooded Merganser Chases

A male Hooded Merganser keeps chasing another, presumably to keep him away from the only female at the pond...it's that time of year for many in the bird world!
Memorable Bird Moments 2021
มุมมอง 198ปีที่แล้ว
2021 marked an incredible bird sighting year for me when we started attending a new birding venue. Some familiar birds and MANY that we had never seen before, including Sandhill Cranes, Lesser Scaup, Red-winged Blackbirds, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, a Virginia Rail and chick, Northern Shovelers, Northern Pintails, and a special Mandarin Duck.
Memorable Bird Moments of 2020

While 2020 will never be forgotten because of Covid-19, it was also a memorable year for me because of fabulous bird sightings owls, pileated woodpeckers, northern flickers, Cooper's and red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, and more!

      I hurt my back in 2015 which led to a bruised sit-bone that won't heal and arthritis in hip has made my walking worse. Covid lockdown made it impossible to get any swimming exercise so have gained weight which makes everything worse but I still feel better than I did before CCSVI treatment!

    • @lorimayb

      Don't know why only one--they must have nested far from the pond where they headed to on this journey. Even though it's in a city, there are many predators around for both the newborns and the eggs. I was happy this one made it--I was very afraid the crow was going to grab it.

    • @lorimayb
      @lorimayb 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just got your message. All studies have proven that the treatment of venous angioplasty for the condition of Chronic CerebroSpinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) is SAFE. Dr. Zamboni's trial showed that it is beneficial for a subgroup of patients with Multiple Sclerosis, however, neurologists with pharmaceutical conflicts of interest have loudly ignored that and still discourage it. This video that I posted was of Dr. Salvatore Sclafani talking about the study at UBC, Vancouver done by Dr. Traboulsee. Dr. S. spoke on television about some results that sounded fairly benign but later found out that the trial was never properly completed and he questioned it. My 8-year "angioversary" is coming up next month. All the improvements I had after my angioplasty (improved balance and dropfoot, eliminated heat intolerance and MS headaches, and others) have held after my treatment on Mar. 17, 2011. Unfortunately, I now have arthritis, trochanteric bursitis and ischiogluteal bursitis in my left hip so my walking has slowed down since the procedure but it is still much better than before my blood flow was improved. People with MS have been prevented from receiving this treatment in many places because of overblown FDA warnings encouraged by those with conflicts of interest due to ties with the pharmaceutical industry.

    Hey! The doctor who did the procedure in Victoria got in serious trouble. He was up for firing by the medical board. But the sister of one of the patients he helped pleaded for him and the medical mafia could not be seen to fire a guy who did a good deed. (The patient showed improvement after the procedure even though she was severely ill). Thousands of people have shown improvement. Including my wife. I hope Weinerman burns in hell for eternity. 2 procedures, both successful in Victoria and he bans the procedure! Absolutely disgusting, and totally anti scientific.
