This is the 114th celebration of the Cobe Cup Race. The race was ran in 1909 in Northwest Indiana. It went through the towns of Crown Point, Cedar Lake and Lowell. For 1910 it moved to Indianapolis and later became the Indianapolis 500 we enjoy today. You can read about the history on Hagerty's website. Go to /media and search Cobe Cup.

Is that a 239. 59 a-b flathead ?
Hello, I admittedly am not very knowledgeable on flatheads. The owner who had the car built told me it's the original 221 CI 85 HP V-8 engine to the car. The VIN is stamped on the top of the transmission-to-engine housing portion of the transmission so I don't have reason to doubt him. Thanks for your question.
Very nice🎉❤
Thanks for watching.
It's happening this year on May 4 around the same time as my cousin's softball game.
I enjoyed this
Thanks for watching!
Nice 'drip' my man. That's a smooth looking hoodie!
Thanks for the visit! One of my favorite hoodies. Glad you're back in action.
Great demo and I think you just sold me on a set of these dollies!
Thanks Chris, they really make a difference if you need to move a car to get to other stuff.
Any problems so far? Nice street rod
Thanks for the compliment and watching. No issues yet but I've only had them for a few weeks. They do make moving the car a lot easier. I have cabinets on that side of the garage I need to get into once in a while and don't want to start the car once put up for the winter.
Taking things up a notch. 🎉🎉🎉❤
That's a pretty good one. Thanks for watching.
bought four back in 2017 - they were purple. Not for moving cars but to move inboard boats around for storage. They work great, no problems. Thumbs up. Were a better deal than those expensive go-jacks. Maybe not the best for heavy vehicles, but they move the boats around perfectly. Why pay over three hundred bucks per as long as you know they're for light duty use.
I agree with you 100%. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review. I'm a little surprised that they're $130 per wheel (as of 2/24). That doesn't seem like the bargain-basement price I expect from Harbor Freight.
Even at $130 they are half the price of the GOJAKs. With that being said I would not have spent $520 plus tax for them as I don't need them that bad. You do have to wait until the stuff you want is on sale at HF. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate the review Pat. I'm sure you easily doubled the usable life of those wheels by adding that grease. Like you, I also always check for grease in any new bearing I buy. It's sad how many times I've seen different bearings - brand new - with zero grease or not nearly enough grease - from the factory. Even sealed ball bearings! Pitiful! Also, I'd have loved to seen the process of jacking them up. That's been my primary concern with these units. I'm also concerned about the jack levers potentially coming into contact with the body or frame of the car. Were either of these an issue for you?
Hey Teejay, I thought about showing how they work but there's a lot of videos showing that. I had a hard time finding a video showing how easy it is to move the car. No issue with the frame hitting them as they are pretty low profile, on the outside you do need to make sure to give the handle clearance room from the body. I have mine about 1-2 inches from the body. That's plenty of room as long as you use a little care when pumping the jack with your foot. They are very easy to use. Thanks for watching!
That is a nice 38 Pat!
Thanks Solon, the off white one is my buddies and the black one at the 1:56 and 8:55 mark is mine.
Hey pat, what did you use for a floor shift?
I used a Lokar cable shifter for the Ford trans. You can see some video of it in part 12 of the build labeled exhaust and misc. Thanks for watching.
Apparently you jacked up cab off frame to weld in floor supports. Do you regret not removing cab from frame? Thinking I might not have sufficient access to clean and treat frame with cab on. Any advice? Thank you
Hello Gary, thanks for watching my video. Yes I do, we were limited on space in the shop and did the best we could. We did POR15 the frame as best as possible. Overall I am happy with how it turned out.
I use this blower, it's pretty good for what it is. Has enough power. The adjusting knob works nice
Just catching up on comments. Thanks for watching. I've been very happy with it.
Anytime, have a good day
Good turn out for the show. Great video!
Thanks John, I appreciate the compliment.
Lots of beautiful cars. Thanks for sharing.
Yes there was. Last show of the season for me. Time to put the'38 away for winter. Thanks for watching...
Lots of awesome cars in the rain...... I liked the 62 Olds Starfire the best. They look good with that big aluminum side trim. I looked at a 62 Starfire for a project, but he didn't have the original 62 drivetrain for it. He had a 64 drivetrain that went with it, but the 64 engine mounts totally different than the 62, so a lot of cobbling would have been required. Finding a good usable 62 engine would have been difficult and costly, so I passed on it.
That is a good looking car. I didn't get to see what engine it had. I was surprised that many cars came out in the rain. Too much work to clean them up for me.
@@pmr413 The engines were the same displacement, but the timing cover, and how it bolted to the block was different, making the block different too. The older engine had its mounts on the timing cover.
Beautiful rides. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Brad!
sorry, I just cant..... There are so many affordable and easy options these days so there's no excuse to not put a ford in a ford.
I would agree with you. If I were building this I would have gone with a Mustang driveline. But, each person builds their car the way they want. There are a lot of cars that are not to my taste, yet I can appreciate the effort that went into them. Anyhow, thanks for watching and have a great day.
Sweet. I love the Zephyr/Fairmont cars. This one is so nice!!! Love it.
Thanks Brad, it turned out to be really nice. And my son tells me it's pretty darn quick too.
I dig it!
Thanks SIM, and thanks for watching!
Such a great help ..Thank you so much.. This is going to make my build go a lot easier and faster..
Thank you Ken, and thanks for watching my video. Best of luck with your truck!!! Pat
Hi, I enjoyed your build series. I have a 1964 also and wondered what steering shaft you used since the OE has a worm gear inside the old gearbox. Thanks
Hi George, thanks for watching the videos. I used an after market GM column with a "D" coupler going to the Crown Vic rack and pinion steering. The F100 steering box was completely removed and not used. Hope that answers your question.
It's stunning. The Ford Flathead V8 is my all time favorite engine..... they just have a great sound to them! I love speed equipment on them too.
Thanks Howard, I think the low RPM idle makes the flathead sound so unique.
She's a beauty Pat. That engine is amazing. It sounds so good too. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks Brad. I do miss my truck, I now wish I would have figured out a way to keep both.
I have so many from the past I wish I would've kept. I understand completely
That car is really too nice and unmolested to be cut up and modified. Well, it’s s cool build as long as you don’t touch the exterior and interior of the car. It’ll be a cool sleeper with the outside and inside untouched
Thanks for watching. It's been a slow process with all the hours he works. But for now there are no plans to modify the exterior or interior. Just beef up the frame and suspension to handle the extra horsepower.
I have to do the same procedure to my '63 but I'm having trouble figuring out where to jack up the front of the cab. There is these pillars where also the cab mounts get welded to, but I'm worried that they might not take the weight. How did you guys do it?
Thanks for watching the video. If you go to the 9:05 minute mark in the video you can see a 2x4 that the firewall seam is resting on. Then the board is resting on the trans bell housing. We jacked up the cab about 5-7 inches, put the board in place then lowered the cab onto the 2x4. Hope that helps. ~Pat
@@pmr413 Thanks so much for your reply! I will try the same.
Do you know what length column you used? Thank you!
Hey Scobee, thanks for watching. I ordered a "Hot Rod Chrome Tilt Steering Column 28" GM No Key."
Sorry I wasn't signed into my account when I replied. 28 inch column, no key, GM style. Thanks for watching!!!
Turned out awesome!
Thanks 2112, I always thought if you're running steel wheels they need to be painted any color but black. Thanks for watching.
The trophies came out really nice!
Thanks, I appreciate the compliment.
I have the 1964 Ford F250. Thank you for sharing the video.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching the video!!!
You make that book look so small lol
HAHA, thanks for watching.
Excellent video. To the point, honest review. :) Pat, is there a trick to remove the draws?
Hello Paul, thanks for watching my video. No trick to the drawers at all. Slide the drawer open, at the halfway point on the slides are two black levers on the side. The Right one you lift slightly, and the left one you push down. Then continue to pull the drawer out. When reinstalling, line up the slides and engage them, then push the drawers all the way in and the locks/catches will latch. Start with the smaller ones, they are easier to handle until you get the hang of it.
@@pmr413 Thank you, Pat. 😁
We purchased a new 1980 2 D00R. Zephyr 2.4 Liter engine. We went on many vacations in the Smoky Mountains USA. We kept that car for 20 years and then we sold it to a young man needing a reliable car. It only lost the Air conditioning. Good Memories for us. My wife and 2 children did a lot of trips in that Brown ( turd ) colored car.
Sounds like some fantastic memories for you and your family. That Ford/Merc brown was an ugly color for sure. Thanks for watching!!!
Nice addition , I have 60 and 72 inch US General boxes they both preform as well as my Snap On box and they are still working out after 5 years of abuse….lol . Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and letting me know yours are still going strong. I've had that Craftsman box for 25 years and will be passing it onto my son-in-law.
@@pmr413 Very cool I also passed along a old Craftsman box to one of my friends sons with some old tools , he is 14 and I hope he can pass it along to someone else’s someday .
Where did you get the '81 Zepher from?
Hello Dusty, my son found it in Michigan. I don't remember if on Facebook or Craigslist. Thanks for watching.
13" Cobra rotors are available from 1994-2004
Thanks for the info.
Just starting the same project. Did you lap weld the floor? Never welded before. Appreciate any pointers.
Hello Ty, yes we welded the floors in with a mig welder. It does take some practice so you don't burn holes where you're welding. If you live near a Eastwood store they do offer beginner classes, or see if you can find a class or someone to teach you. It's not that hard but you should practice on something first. Best of luck, Pat
Thanks for the nice compilation of the day’s event. Y’all did yourselves proud!
Nice video Pat! Congrats on the win!!
Hey Pat, Nice work, don`t look like it was too bad of a job. sounds like the gear mesh is good to go. Keep up the good work and the videos.
Thanks! I did check the measurement from the mounting flange to the flywheel and it was dead on. If I remember correctly 1 1/4 inches is what it was.
That 38 Ford of yours is awesome. I love the Ford flathead V-8's.... there my favorite engine. I love the old speed equipment made for them too. Your engine looks super nice.
Thanks Howard, I'm really enjoying it. It was down for only 2 weeks but seemed like so much longer. Hoping to get a few more nice weekends before putting it away.
@@pmr413 Im still driving the Galaxie.... and will drive it until the roads are salted.
It's always hard seeing them go.... but then the next car always seems makes up for it quickly.
I agree, I'm really happy with the '38 I picked up. But will miss the F100. I've always been more of a truck kinda guy.
Hey Pat, Its like seeing one of your children leave the nest. We are only caregivers for our toys, one day we will have to have the pass the torch on to somebody else.
Yea but it was hard to see it go. But it needs to be finished and I know with the work I want to do on the '38 I wouldn't get to it. Thanks for all your help putting this one together. I couldn't have done it without your guidance, knowledge, and help. Pat
It was VERY tough to pass on this. Great set of videos!
It was tough letting it go also. Thanks for watching the videos. ~Pat
Pat you look like you should be driving a low rider around east L.A.
Ha Ha!!! There are a lot of lowered cars and trucks in my area now days. It's amazing how styles travel though out the country. Thanks for watching!!! Pat
Hi, I’m building the same thing and I too used the brake and gas from the CV. How did you wire the brake light switch? Did you keep the plug from the harness on the donor? Also, what did you do about the E-brake? Thank you and I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
We used the CV brake switch and we did keep the CV connector from the donor. Thanks for watching...
