Glass top stove element repair (temporary fix) . . . . ..... I think. By folding the broken element halves over each other them crimping them togeather you give the current a path to follow and generate heat again. Down side. . . the crimped part gets hotter then the carben element was designed for and im pritty sure it wont last long. Nun the less if you need your stove working and cant get a ...

I made this video to help anyone who wants to get their older car looking nice again. you can buy kits to repair a dash but most of them are around fifty bucks with specialized tools. My method doesn’t require any special tools unless a paint roller is a speciality tool. also more affordable. one tube of caulk $3, pint of paint $17 , roller $4 , brush $1 , spreader $1 and enough left over you c...

    I'm going to try this reconnect trick, just to make sure that it's the broken element, and not the switch also. It's possible that the element snaped when I was picking the stove top up and flipping it over, even though I handled it very carefully. These nichrome wires get very brittle as they age, kind of like me and my bones. And I can't shove my bones back together. The doc does that, at great expense.

    I notice the round insulation material around the edges of these burners tends to crack. Yours are cracked like mine. Is that bad? I didn't notice you repairing those round circles on the edges, just the coils. . . Otherwise, mine work fine. I'm just worried about those hairline cracks in the gray edge material. I noticed it when I had to replace the cooktop.

    Well, hell to the yeah! GE doesn't believe in making replacement parts (at least the ones I've needed for my high end expensive refrigerator and range, after 10 years. Some are available but not the ones I need including the heating element on my range. I figured it had to be repairable and I found this! Bravo, sir! I was about to reverse engineer a 3 way valve for my refrigerator. All they did was change the wiring configuration for the newer models but they won't disclose that info. Luckily, I found the last one in the country on Ebay.

    • @backyardengineering3686
      @backyardengineering3686 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont think spot welding would work as the elements are almost pure carbon. and brazing would melt free when it got red hot so, unfortunately just a temporary fix

    I'd say Well done there. If you get low voltage in your area that would cause the element to burn out - as the voltage drops the Amperage will then spike and that's why the element burns out

    • @joevignolor4u949
      @joevignolor4u949 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not correct. If the voltage goes down the current will also go down. In a resistive circuit like that the current is directly proportional to the voltage. It's basic Ohms Law. Current equals voltage divided by resistance.

    What makes 1 man proud, makes another man roll his eyes. Black doesn't hide a thing that's for sure. It ain't perfect but did you see it before he started. Besides the State Fair called and said "no more entries". Think you could do better? I'm a optimistic kind of guy. Having the patience or time to even attempt a dash fix, just isn't available for some. Kudos for making something, normally thrown away, live yet again. Question~ when a man, works with his hands- what tool is he using? Answer ~ his brain. His arms & hands are mearly extentions~ mFulmer
