     @ValleyRider Time for new cables or at least a good oiling, they should be snapping back instantly. Your FIL should replace them sooner than later, its no fun when you go to take off and the cable snaps (this is experience talking)! Also to really have fun on those bikes the redline is more a suggestion, you should have just been getting into the power band ;) I love my 1975 750k, but I agree the brakes have always been the downfall. What's really crazy is those were very good brakes for their time, most bikes had front drums still.

  • @vaughnedwards3221
    @vaughnedwards3221 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loosen the throttle lock screw on the underside of the throttle control. I have a ‘72 cb750. The throttle screw is nice on a long ride as the return spring at least on mine is heavy compared to newer bikes. You can loosen it off all the way to make it move freely.

    • @valleyrider2282

      I did loosen it all the way off but it was still sticking

    • @vaughnedwards3221
      @vaughnedwards3221 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@valleyrider2282 Sorry about that. I thought maybe you weren’t aware of it as it’s not your bike and it isn’t a common feature. I guess it’s a weak return spring and the cables and other moving parts need a good lube. Nice video. You’re exactly right about feeling like going faster than you actually are. It’s fun to ride once you get used to the weak brakes and suspension.

    • @valleyrider2282

    That throttle should spring back to idle. Spray the bugger with WD40 or GT85. Try not to weave so much, that's a definite pull doing that...if you should ever come across plod.

      @@wsbill14224 I think it was mostly due to how the motor was treated in its life, I only had it for a bit. Alot of the bolt heads were mangled. I replaced the oil pan seal and found a chunk of metal in the pan. I sold it after that and got a newer cb919.

      @steamydog In this situation they certainly were, saved the bike from a lot of damage, thus making the repairs more affordable. I know that this post is 6 years old but I just want to share to you guys that I just bought my very first motorcycle (without prior experience of riding a motorcycle) and it is an ER6F. Friend(old owner) said that it is almost stock but the pipes are changed and its ECU flashed. All I can say is it is a very good beginner bike in my case. Some say it is on the heavier side and it definitely is. It has been a month since I got my bike and it is very responsive and easy to ride. The seating position is also great. More power to you, Sir!

    Let me guess, it was cold with frost that morning? One time in the middle of summer I leaned over too much and my footpeg hit the pavement, I was able to recover, otherwise I would had fallen like this and it would had been expensive. I was 130 km from my house so it would have costed me $400 dollars to get my bike back home using a towing company.

    • @ESAPOWER
      @ESAPOWER 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wet road, coming onto the power, while the bike was still leaned over and on limited contact and traction. That's my breakdown, at any rate. You only have a finite amount of traction - when you lean, you reduce that. When you apply power, you reduce it even more. And when the road is wet, that reduces it too. Cold tyres also reduce it - and cold, wet roads create cold, wet tyres.
