Remembering Witches Project 2024/JHT Media January 2025
This video performance was part of a larger project with the Arts and Conflict Research Group at the University of Agder called Remembering Witches.
Remembering Witches (2024) was an interdisciplinary project (memory studies, local history, art history and cross-artistic exploration) supported by the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Agder.
In Agder and Kristiansand (Norway), 20 people were executed for witchcraft, several of them burned at the stake on Trollkjerringheia (Kuholmen) near the city center, but neither there nor in the region is there a public memorial to these events. Why is there not one? What could it look like? Do we need it and if so, for what purpose? The project experimented with, shared and discussed cultural and artistic ideas for such a memorial in Kristiansand. The project involves master's students in the arts.
