CAT ANTICS
Just being themselves, cats and kittens are such entertaining creatures! It's estimated that there are about 720 million cats around the world (including pets and strays). One interesting bit of trivia: Cats' whiskers can show what mood they are in. If their whiskers are set straight ahead, they are probably angry, whereas when the whiskers are relaxed, it's likely they are feeling content.
LEMURS - cute, affectionate and endangered
Lemurs originally came from Madagascar and nearby islands, but you will see them in zoos around the world. They are wet-nosed primates, very friendly and docile. They have large hind legs and big eyes, making them very beautiful to look at. There are over 100 kinds of lemurs and some of them are considered to be endangered species.
BIRDS Amazing aerial acrobatics
Starlings are the only species of birds that perform these aerial acrobatics ("murmurations"). It's amazing to watch them change direction, all in sync! While the starlings are in these amazing formation, a murmuring sound is made, which it's thought helps to deter potential predators.
Camels - loyal and beautiful "ships of the desert"
Camels are known to develop enduring relationships with their owners, showing great loyalty and affection over many years. They are generally classified into three species: the one-humped dromedary, the two-humped Bactrian camel and the (endangered) two-humped wild camel. Camels live between 40 to 50 years. PEACOCK SPIDER - a tiny Australian living treasure
This tiny spider is not well-known around the world, or even in its native Australia. That is partly because its small size, but also because it tends to live in undergrowth, only becoming exposed when the weather conditions are just right, or for mating.
ELEPHANTS Intelligent and social
Elephants are the largest land-dwelling mammals on earth. The Asian elephants have smaller ears than their African counterparts and there are other differences within species as well. An elephant can weigh four to six tonnes and can vary in length from 18 to 24 feet. As far as female elephants go, they are led by a matriarch and have a complex social structure. The males either live in small ba...

COCKATOOS - Entertaining birds, and they can be loud!
In Australia, from where I'm writing, there are about 14 species of Cockatoo. Probably the most common is the sulphur-crested cockatoo, which is white with a yellow crest. Those cockatoos (or "Cockies" as they are affectionately known here) are incredibly loud. If you are near a tree with a large flock of cockatoos in its branches, the sound can be deafening! We also have black cockatoos, but t...

I loved reading your story about your chickens! They also make that lovely chooky "purr" when you're near them. I agree with you about them making the best of pets.
Chickens make the best pets. We had three bantams once with very distinct personalities. Abigail was the leader of the pack, bossy and quick to peck critters and humans into place. She had fluffy feathers around her feet and it always made me laugh watching her run frantically down the hill like a grandma in her slippers determined to be the first to the feeder. Rosie was Abigails fangirl, always on her heels and scared of her own shadow. Gracie was gentle and enjoyed being picked up and petted. She was also very independant, happy to go her own way which used to frustrate Abigail no end. They provided endless hours of entertainment and when they became too old to lay we built them their own seperate pen and called it the old girls retirement home.
You made me nostalgic for home 😊
I'm not surprised you feel homesick... New Zealand's natural beauty is breathtaking

Thanks for your comment @LonerJoe. Yes, both the exquisite dragonflies and the videography are beautiful. I can't take credit myself for the footage. I have a subscription which allows me to scroll through the work of others and select what I love the most for a compilation video, before adding music. With the right equipment and talent, what incredible footage these videographers have produced!
