There were many industrialists who did what Oskar Schindler did. Some payed the supreme price with their lives. Schindler was the one who was made known but all were angels here on earth.
they're shown in the video. Oskar mentioned Julius(the guy he's trying to convince) fed his Jewish workers out of his own money so he thought he will be sympathetic with the idea of moving them to a safe region.

It's been some while since I've seen the movie: why did Schindler say "If you were still working for me ....." - who was Stern working for here if not Schindler ?
He wasn't officially working for him anymore. Goeth made him watch over Schindler/his money, there's one scene where Goeth says something like "Remember who you work for now" (him). Maybe it was also a way to respect him, making them equal that they're working with each other and not for each other.
Now do I understand the true meaning of that line “you’re not buying them, you’re buying them.” Stern previously told Schindler if he wants to continue running his business he will have to hire Polish workers but they cost a little more. Stern believes that Schindler has convinced Amon Geoth to let him hire these Jews to profit more from slave labour. Stern is happy to transcribe the list because he knows that the sub camp built for Schindler for his workers was a haven for the prisoners compared to the main concentration camp. But Stern understands he is not buying them for labour he is buying them to save them from the gas chambers.
I think initially Stern thought Schindler has convinced Amon to give him the workers for free, so Schindler can continue make profit. A logical businessman and accountant's logic. But then, he suddenly realise, Amon wouldn't just simply give up these people. Hence he was shocked to know Schindler is doing something that a person like him wouldn't do, so he had to reconfirm it twice.
I having a feeling that when Schindler saw and interacted with Jews such as Stern and the others, it was the first time he realized that he had a chance to get something more precious than money. The love and respect of others. He may have made mistakes before and after the war, but when the time came, at the most crucial moment, Oskar Schindler chose to save his soul, than lose it to 'fool's' gold.
Helen most likely as they dont know yet if amon is going to let her go. So they keep it empty giving her preference but if she doesnt make it they will fill some other name. All those brutally murdered are all in heaven and far more lucky as God is rewarding them way more than we can ever dream of. Peace and be good to others
You cut out the last couple seconds that showed the reaction to the list from the point of the people it was intended to benefit. You could've just showed THAT instead of everything else and it would've made sense. What you clipped here was just lazy.
Well, Stern did help him a lot, but, to quote the man himself, "[he] knew the people who worked for [him], when you know people, you have to behave toward them like human beings"
The one thing I loved about Oskar Schindler's portrayal in this movie is how selfish he was in the beginning. He didn't care for them, only about money, but as his Jewish friends around him starting getting deported, he used his wealth to save the Jews that he'd hired. It really brought out his humanity.
@fuss Greed is the opposite of charity, what he did was not greed but guilt. Greed would drive him to save friends or just family, not random strangers
@@Yusuf-fs4fnit depends on what you define by greed. It is greedy to obsessively not letting possessions go or being taken away by any other party no matter what. It’s amazing rewatching the scenes that he always refers how it’s effecting him. The train depot scene - “Then where would I be” line and this line “It’s costing me a fortune”. Interesting how he reflects how it effects him and portrayed! Watching documentaries and others they all say he was no saint but that’s why they lived.
For those of you that do not know, the gentlemen Oskar was speaking with at the other factory was Julius Madritsch. He also has a fascinating story of saving Jews by hiring them and making them essential workers even under threat from the SS to have him hire Poles instead of Jews.
They should do more movies about people who helped others during a time of great turmoil. Plenty of people in WWII alone who risked everything to help the Jews including a maid who hid Jews in a cellar and while the owners were away they helped clean the house or something along those lines.
60 Jews under his protection wound up on the list, whereas others got deported and either died in Auschwitz or may have survived. I don't know how many did, but either way, the fact that more couldn't be saved ultimately destroyed their friendship.
