IU's '아이와 나의 바다(My sea)' is a song she wrote about her life in her 20s. The first verse of the song reflects her early 20s, the second verse reflects her mid-20s, and the third verse reflects her late 20s. The song is beautiful on its own, but you can also read the lyrics to get an insight into her life in her 20s. She had to go through a lot to make her debut at such a young age and had to go through a lot of things, which makes her 30-something look like a mid-to-late 40-something with a lot of maturity.

IU released a mini 6th album earlier this year, with a total of 5 songs, 4 of which have M/Vs. All of the M/Vs are high quality and entertaining, so I highly recommend watching them. The titles of these 4 songs are Love wins all, Holssi, Shopper, and Shh. You'd be surprised how many different songs a singer can put in one album. IU is the queen of K-pop, having been a singer for 16 years. She produces her own music.

If you are doing a deep dive, you should watch IU EIGHT ( song meaning revealed) video and for MY SEA . IU music has a story and meaning to her life journey in music. You have to dig deep to know the true experience of IU.

They're sitting because IU concerts in Korea run 5 hours! 3 hour concert followed by hours of casual encores! The dress is cut is an edit between the two nights of the concerts. But seriously, as IU writes her own songs you should check out a translation for meaning. These songs are sooo deep and you won't be disappointed!

As incredible as those performances were - when you know the words and stories behind them, they hit you many times harder. As a previous commenter said, for songs with MVs - check those first, followed by the live performances. Also agree with another commenter about IUTV. Just realize, once you fall into that rabbit hole, you won’t be able to climb out. She really is an angel.

Thank you for your reaction. I think this is iu's deep dive? My advice : pls include personality video as well, like iu tv or iu palette. IU palette with bts' members or seventeen are good vid. Also iu's suchwita .... Just one thing, maybe you dont know iu well, but actually she's already a legend in s.korea. To the point its unfair to measure any idols/ singer to her success. Any singer in s.korea with half of iu's achievement will be called a legend.

Yes, it was a 2 day concert.

There is so much to discover about IU. I personally discovered her through her acting in the Kdrama My Mister which, I watched in Jan. of 2020 and which is outstanding and lead to Hotel Del Luna. Her performance in My Mister attracted the attention of a very famous Japanese director who then cast her in his movie Broker, which premiere at Cannes Film Festival in Feb of 2022. IU was nominated for Best Actress and the film recieved a 12 minute standing ovation. It was after My Mister I found out that her primary craft was as a singer. And I went down the IU rabbit hole and have been there ever since. Quick facts about IU. Her family lost a lot of money when she was young and as a result she and her younger brother went to live with their grandmother and lived in proverty. She started auditioning with entertainment companies when she was 13. She was rejected 20 times but never lost sight of her goal or became bitter, quite a remarkable thing when you consider it. I mean at 13 singing in front of adults and being told no 20 times and not giving up speaks volumes about her character and mental toughness. She was finally signed by a small company and after 10 months of training (most kpop groups train for years before debut) She debuted in Sept of 2008 with a very beautiful song that showed off her vocal talents called Lost Child. The song was not recieved well by kpop fans. The song was about a romantic breakup and at that time kpop fans weren't interested in listening to a 15 (16 in Korean age) year old sing about romance. She was even jeered and called names on stage. They had made an MV for Lost Child but after the reaction by fans they withheld the MV, finally releasing it in 2011 after her break through success with the songs Nagging and Good Day both of which reached #1 on the charts in South Korea. She then earned the title of the nation's little sister. IU became the most poplar kpop singer in Korea. She has had more number 1 hits in Korea than any other kpop act. 2013 she took control over her music and in 2014 released an album that she produced and wrote all the songs and composed many of then. She started performing concerts In 2012. In 2019 she became the first kpop act to perform a concert (Love Poem) with a 360 degree stage. She became the first female singer to headline a concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, her 2022 Golden Hour concert. Interestingly, she consider that concert to be the pinnacle of her career, never having dreamed of ever performing in such a venue, that she considered retiring from singing. But she was recharged with energy by how well her fans reacted to this 2 day concert she started to reconsider that there maybe even bigger goals to achieve. It is important to note here that no pure kpop soloist (meaning a soloist who has never been apart of a group) has ever tried to perform concerts outside of Asia. In fact many companies never even consider trying because there are so hurdles. IU however, decided she was going to go for it. The mini album she just released contains 2 songs that tell her story about making this decision and how she will achieve victory. Holssi is abut her decision to she how high she can fly. The 2nd song Shopper, is a motional song about being all you can be and not letting others tell you to be practical and not to be greedy. Four of the five songs on this mini album have MV's and the 5th, a song to her fans has a live clip. While her live performances are very special and sound as good or better than the recorded versions, DO NOT ignore her MV's. IU is a master story teller and her MV's are where she actually tells her story, adding depth and meaning to the song. Another thing IU does with her MV's is she will tell a story across multiple songs and MV's. For example, her 2011 song You and I turned into a 4 part story told over 10 years. Part 2 was released in 2019 which was the year that was noted in You and I. That song Above the Time was followed by part 3 called Blueming and the 4thbpart released in 2021 Strawberry Moon. Lilac is about her journey through her 20's. Her uneasiness the struggles etc. and welcoming in her 30's. Eight is about hercstrughles dealing with the suicide deaths of 3 friends. BBIBBI is about her telling fans their is a limit to what iis acceptable behavior. Everything in IU's MV's have meaning and adds to the story. They can be so complex in fact that others have made videos explaining them. So don't skip her MV's. In fact I will say that it is more helpful to watch a songs MV first then watch the live performance. Enjoy your IU journey, it can be life changing. If you belief in angels you have meet one in IU. If you don't believe in angels you will.
