Preparing a Subaru STI 6-Speed Transmission for a WRX Swapped Car

    One thing to note is do not use heater hose for the oil drain line. Please, use the OEM hose if you need it replaced. It's only $15 and much sturdier and reliable than heater hose.

      @@RyKingUploadsah nice. Speaking on this subject, would it even be worth it to upgrade to these brakes if I only have the stock 96 Impreza engine? Really curious

    • @RyKingUploads
      @RyKingUploads 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Brake upgrades really depend on use. If you plan to circuit race, auto cross, mountain drive, or any activities that require frequent hard braking, then upgrading brakes is worth it. Even with low HP, brake fade is real and real dangerous. If you don't plan on doing those things then OEM brakes should be sufficient in most scenarios. Just make sure you maintain them well (brake fluid every 1-2 years, check pad & rotor wear every 4-6 months). If you want to improve your driving experience without breaking the bank I suggest starting with upgrades that address handling like springs, sway bars, and tires.

    • @RyKingUploads
      @RyKingUploads 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably can, but I think it would be a significant challenge. You have to support the weight of the engine and trans in a way that doesn't impede changing out the subframe or cause damage. If you do use that approach, I suggest 3 points of reliable support. You can get the engine bridge for $65 on Amazon and it will save you time and energy. Good luck with your project.

    with the 30mm offset did you have to roll your fenders? I have a 1999 2.5 RS and I wanna get new wheels for it I was looking at the JNC010 wheels but they only have a 30 offset and I don't wanna roll my fenders. My car is lowered on coils rn and I'm looking for a nice flush fitment

    • @RyKingUploads
      @RyKingUploads 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My fenders are modified beyond rolling (cut and bent). My original plan was to go wide so I didn't do much research in terms of wheel size restrictions to keep it flush. I don't think JNC makes sizes that will fit our cars well, but enkei and other Japanese manufacturers should have more OEM friendly sizes.

    Man great work. I just bought a 96 automatic 1.8 sedan. 120,000 miles. I’m so overwhelmed I don’t even know where to start. My family are all mechanics. I used to watch my dad restore vehicles (he since has recently passed). My brother is pretty much only good with fords. so I don’t have him to rely on. This is my attempt at getting into a community. I’m so confused as to what can swap, what has to swap.. im on different forums and it’s like trying to learn Klingon.

    • @RyKingUploads
      @RyKingUploads ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear about your father, that must be difficult. I hope you and your family will find peace. In terms of the project, the first thing to figure out why you are doing the swap (like what are your goals in terms of drivability and performance). This should be fairly specific. Once you figure out what you want out of the car I can help point you in a direction. If your family are mechanics it will be helpful even if they don't know Subarus specifically. Imprezas from 93-07 are relatively low tech, so most of the work is anolog mechanics. There are tried and true resources for the wiring and tuning if there is a familiarity issue. Sometimes things can be overwhelming, and I think it's best to take things one step at a time. I have a playlist for this project that goes over swap options, swap notes, and installs. They should give you a general idea of what's in front of you. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for watching

    Hey Guys, it's awesome to see a survivor Volvo 780. I was old enough to have seen a 1990 Volvo 780 new for $40,000 at a Volvo dealer showroom in Monterey California lots of dough back then and they were limited production by Bertone. The Italian leather seats and the fragrance were the bomb better than the 760 Turbo Swedish seats. The 760 Turbo was about $34,455 new ooh lots of denaro back then guys. I had purchased a used 1985 760 Turbo for $15,000 and had a 48 month payment with Bank of the West this was also a lot of dough back then but that was what I can afford without having a huge car payment. I was a younger dude back then. Well in any event, I had fun watching your video guys thanks for posting and saving that awesome 780 whoo-whoo!

      In a relaxed environment (at home, but no breaks) both methods 2-3 hrs. If I was on the clock, about 1-1.5 hrs. Removing the intake manifold just makes the turbo a more accessible. Prob ads about 30min to R&R the manifold. Speed also depends on experience and tools. A variety of extensions and wobble sockets come in handy in tight spaces.
