Pay attention to what Peter says in verse 19 specifically and Paul's follow up; then read James 3:1. 1 Peter 18:20 "18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake." Romans 3:25 "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[a] through the shedding of his blood-to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." Notice that he gives no scriptural witness, he's just talking, Romans 3:4.

Thanks for watching! This is a clip from one sermon, that itself was part of a 3-part series. There are many passages in the Bible that speak to how we should understand the cross and, interestingly, they do not all agree with one another.

@RiverNYC , please name any two verses that disagree with each other regarding the blood atonement; please demonstrate exegetically your opinion. The Old Testament contains many prophecies about this blood atonement, including Isaiah 53:4, 5, 8, 11, and 12, which describe Jesus bearing the sins of humanity; they describe His blood sacrifice, for us.

@RiverNYC , if you read the Bible, you'd know the OT (written in Hebrew) was a foreshadow of Jesus, and that these cross references are written throughout the NT (written in Koine Greek) to demonstrate the prophecy csme true. - Isaiah 7:14 is cross-referenced in Luke 1:31 -Isaiah 9:6-7 is cross-referenced in Luke 1:32-33 -Isaiah 53:4-5 is cross-referenced in Matthew 27 -Isaiah 53:10 is cross-referenced in 1 Peter 2:24 -Psalm 22 is cross-referenced in Matthew 27:46 Matthew 8:16-17 literally quotes "This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "He took our illnesses and bore our diseases." Several points made in this statement, but the one that is unequivocally incorrect is the statement of doubt that satan played on Eve just as he has done with this woman. The Bible IS perfect! 1 Peter 2:11Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

Wow, this is a very bad message. First of all we are his servants, to name him master, Lord, or King is the best way to name him. We should live our lives like slaves of God, and I mean that. We should listen to God and fulfill his purpose for our life. Second of all, there is such thing as a healthy fear of something. Seeing as God is our Father, as well as our Lord, we should obey him because it is his job to punish us, every time we sin he has the absolute right to punish us, but of course he doesn’t, the day of judgement is yet to come. We are NOT equal to God, if we don’t have that that healthy fear what is stopping ourselves from acting like we are better than God, or that we can live without him?

Sometimes, it's simply amazing how radically God loves people. God, as described by the authors of the Christian gospels, is a God who hungers, thirsts, gets sick, and suffers. God shows solidarity to all people by demanding the disciples to see God in the impoverished, the imprisoned, the outcasts, the untouchables. Unlike the gentile and pagan gods who sit in the throne above, demanding the humans to obey their laws, this strange God chooses to love people over Sabbath rituals, to love the neighbors over the temple, to love community over the segregations.
