Great video! Really highlights that need for the SCA to adapt. Great job!

This is a long video. I have created a summary of my take aways. 1. Expand your social media presence. Look into other options of communicating. 2. Work on your brand. What is your brand? Such as offering FREE teaching on classes, events, etc. 3. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Let people know what you're doing and what's going on. 4. Mentor your officers and newbies. 5. Adhere to your core values. Create a space where your core officers can be corrected and correct you. 6. Say "yes" to the populace, officers, etc on new ideas as often as you can. If something doesn't work, it's ok to fail. 7. Encourage diversity. 8. Consistency of meeting places regardless of rain or heat index. Only tornados might stop you. 9. Instead of just Fighter Practice, have a weekly community group meetings that are all inclusive. This helps people to live real life and not have to go to too many SCA things. 10. Announcements at every meeting about needs of the barony. 11: Host community non SCA events. 12. Be approachable. Don't overwhelm newcomers too much info up front. It might sound like lecturing. 13. Be transparent about what an award entails and what you are looking for. 14. Look at alternate venues for demos. 15. Don't try to give new people too many responsibilities. Let them have fun and they will eventually want to help out. Volunteerism will come naturally. 16. No need to push paying for membership for newbies, if they feel like it's worth it they will do it when it's right for them. 17. When a new person wants to try something, tell them don't spend the money on it at first. Try it then decide. 18. Matching donations from companies for charities. Could be volunteer time or cash donations. 19. T-Shirt fundraiser, booster club, patreon monthly fee for Barony and you get videos, add fun to events that are value add and excite people to pay for events, 20. Have resources available for populace, reach out to others doing or have done similar things for help. 21. Take it step by step, be flexible, celebrate successes!

I want to learn this, but this is so tedious. Too much explanation and nib blotting, and not enough writing demonstration. One way of writing each letter would excellent, and consistency would also be helpful.

Very good video, just what i was looking for. The Mammenstyle is difficult to set up. One discovers that the vikings where not all rough barbarians. There where also great artists among them!

Just a note on plastic recorders, sure Yamaha are good, but Zen-On are also just as good

I had also suggested this in our group's discussion, at least with the fighting, to separate the fighters from non-combatants, perhaps put up some of the lystfield ropes to designate the fighters' area and the non-combatants' area to indicate how close the non-combatants can get without being too close to the fighters and exceeding either group's group limit.

Considering the matter of group size limit and then a bunch of passerbys coming to check it out, exceeding the group limit; it could be as simple as one person (preferably a non-combatant member just watching from a distance, or even better the Hospitaler) keeping an eye out for any passerbys approaching and intercept them before they come too close to exceed the group limit. Now if they want to get a closer look or even try it, then there is concern.

Loved seeing Otilia (the dog) at the ceremony for Elena, it's fitting that Otilia be present at this celebration!

thanks for hosting this on TH-cam for those of us who had to miss the live court on April 25th.
