I subsequently cleaned up the audio for this upload.
I remember hearing an LP vinyl recording of Jyotin Bhattacharya playing Rag Marwa many years ago. He started the piece resting on the komal rishabh swar in the mandra saptak on his sarod, which created such an incredible effect and mood. Some delightful glimpses of that old sarod 'baj' percolate through at various points.

5 minute into this and never heard a bhairavi like this before already
I was always astounded at the way Ghosh accompanied every stage of laya set by Khansahib on their LP recordings. The jawal-sawab in Madhya Laya could not be tighter, and as Khansahib switches to Drut Laya (15:12), Shankar Ghosh has joined him ONE BEAT LATER! Incredible sangati.
I have ever listend such presentation of Zilakafi. My humble pronam.
I just wonder what masterpiece it would be if we get to hear pandit ji 's music in his prime days , but intentionally none of his music had been preserved and very few of his playings are there in youtube which are just 10 percent of his actual performance still so soothing and pleasing for the ears, its a shame that most of his golden records had been destroyed out of fear and conspiracy.
No worries, his writing is lesson for music career aspirants

Thanks for sharing this. Pt. Shankar Ghosh is one of my favorite tabla players. When he gets an opportunity to play, he makes the most of it and yet plays succinctly, so as not to take away from Khan-sahib's development of the raga. The sat-sangat he provides is also superb. Let us not forget his teacher, the amazing Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh, who taught, in addition to Pt. Shankar Gosh, Pt. Kanai Dutta, Pt. Nikhil Ghosh, Pt. Abhijit Bannerjee, Pt. Sanjay Mukherjee, and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee (as well as vocalist Pt. Ajoy Chakravarty).
