As a verified child who played this game, this was the game I loved the most for the longest time. As I loved Police Chase programs but at the same time I absolutely hated as I always loaded it up with rose tinted glasses and then was hit with depression when I was immediately stuck. Could play this again as an Adult I guess but as a Child I always loved the idea but the difficulty was insane (I would have been 5 - 8 when I played the most).

Games like this are why you'd get your PlayStation chipped as a child.

From wikipedia (this game truly is a gem...it's not for everyone's tastes, but it did break some molds): "The program was one of the first commercial titles[1] to code artificial life organisms from the genetic level upwards using a sophisticated biochemistry and neural network brains,[2][3] including simulated senses of sight, hearing and touch.[4] This meant that the Norns and their DNA could develop and "evolve" in increasingly diverse ways, unpredicted by the makers. By breeding certain Norns with others, some traits could be passed on to following generations.[5] The Norns turned out to behave similarly to living creatures.[6] Norns respond to external stimuli, such as interaction with the player, and internal stimuli, such as changes in chemical concentrations or neural activities.[7] Sight is simulated by having a group of neurons representing each type of object in the world. This game (and its predecessor) really had amazing music!! It also has a very intriguing story of how it was developed. Some may disagree, but it actually deserves a "stamp" of recognition in terms of video game/simulation programming history.
