Hello, how old is the CNC, I'm not sure if I would be so casual with bearings falling apart and electrical issues on what looks to be a relatively new machine. They brag about the longevity of bearings over rack and pinion, now I'm torn. I really can't decide on who to buy, I'm in Canada and I would have to go to the States to pick it up and then parts and service become another issue.
You have no idea how happy this makes me. I have to patch a subfloor tomorrow and this greatly simplifies what I need to do.
How much would you charge for something like this?
I don’t normally do this type of work, but based on my time and materials, maybe $300
@@mywoodworkinglife Thanks so much for the response!! ❤️❤️
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Do you do the same with kitchens? I assume not since the amount of cabinets that run along together in kitchens are typically greater than a vanity. I'm trying to find a way were my parameters automatically spit out a single 1.5" frame between adjacent cabinets to eliminate the gaps and reduce the amount of rails like you did in this video.
I use the same methodology for kitchens as well. I will typically build up to a 6’ run of cabinets (base) and for uppers maybe a 4’ run. When I need to join two separate cabinets, I will have them share a style so it has the appearance of one solid unit. Hope that makes sense.
@@mywoodworkinglife It does! I appreciate the quick reply. I'm cutting out my first full CNC'd kitchen tomorrow and this helped a lot.
Not my cup of tea but the work is nice
What do you think caused it?
Maybe a combination of a dull bit getting hot and saw dust.
why did you need to flip the board for the dado cuts? could you place the plywood face down, cut the dados. then cut the parts out?
The program identifies the most efficient manner to do the dados and cut the parts out. In some cases there is a dado on one side and a rabbit on the same part on the reverse side.
what type of bit is this being used?
Might be a dumb question, but what kind of panel did you use, and does it matter?
3/4 plywood. The builder used osb, which is why it failed.
@@mywoodworkinglife thank u
IF only I had a CNC machine. The gate looks beautiful
On the left cabinet why not just increase the widths of the drawer front and doors to decrease spacing
I appreciate ya! Keep up the excellent work!!
Good idea, thanks!
Excellent thanks
Look into methylane blue this can help big time . If your mom is on cholesterol medicine get her off it . Your brain is made of 70 percent cholesterol . The cholesterol medicine is killing people slowly .
Can you do your face frames on the CNC as well?
and that's why using 5/8 or 3/4 plywood for a subfloor is a much better way to build !
You sit down when you work. 46 year old apprentice
What happens when you have bad knees. I also sit down to pee :)
Thank you very much for the comprehensive video 🙏
I have one of those machines in my garage too. 🙄
How do you like your Shop Sabre?
Quick question... why did you not cut the face frame out with the cnc?
For me, practicality, waste, and time; it’s considerably easier to cut face frame parts out with a table saw and miter saw than CNC. The reason is the cabinet parts are cut from plywood, which is easy to hold down with a vacuum pump system that holds the parts in place as you cut. I use poplar or cypress for the the face frame parts, which are usually 1” x 6” x 8’. Smaller parts like this are harder told down during the cut, you will have a lot of waste, and it’s just not time efficient. With that said, Mozaik will give you a cut list for the face frame parts, which are dead on accurate. With my work flow, I can cut, pocket (Castle) screw, assemble, glue, attach a face frame this size in about 15 minutes, in addition to the 20-25 minutes or so it will take me to assemble the cabinet box.
Nice work but dang that subfloor couldn't handle the traffic.
Was this in a modular trailer?
In this case what material are the doors ? One piece mdf?
Could be either one piece or traditional 5 piece. I discuss door material with the customer, provide pros and cons of each.
Good job
What am I missing here?
The closest: |🥲|
HDF doesn't sound as durable as any hardwood in a kitchen or bathroom. Do customers know what they are getting?
Agreed. Each project we discuss the options as well as the pros and cons and it’s up to the customer to decide.
:OOOO I DO NEED THAT, WTFFFFFFFF WHERE AT???? HOW?!?
Shopsabre tech support is goated. I've never had any problems reaching out to them over the years and they've always gotten to the bottom of the issues. The fact that it's lifetime is such a valuable asset as well. Only two negatives that I can think of: the dust dock is booty. I've ruined many of them by having a thin strand of MDF or wood grtting trapped between the magnets during a tool change. They should seriously consider switching to n52 or larger neodymiums. The second thing is the tool height touch off probe, it can be somewhat innacurate at times.
I'd also like to add that the little 220v vacuum system you've got definitely will burn through the motors. If you ever have one give out I've got the model number and supplier of the motor it's self. It's an easy change, all you need is some rivets and high heat silicon caulking. You can pry off the old flange connector and just attach it to the new motor. They're like 175$. Will save a couple grand in 5 years.
This is awesome! Keep your videos coming please!
Need more money 😢
CNC router
Over kill
No such thing.
I can see how you’d think that, but the top was made to fit the existing cabinets exactly how the client wanted. Thanks for watching
Beautiful wow Amazing work..Superior Carpentry !Beautiful catch of GODS Gift with wood and skills
Thanks
Fire nice work
Thanks
That’s some beautiful wood almost as beautiful as mine
Thanks for another great Video.
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
There are so many lessons to learn here. I agree a properly set up table saw can buzz out the front/back/bottoms quickly, with little waste. I learned that lesson when making a resaw jig for the bandsaw. Set up the dado and cut multiple pieces that are accurately aligned and the exact same fit. I see you opted for the Shopsaber, I can really only do 4x4 in my basement shop. I went with the OneFinety Elite Foreman with 2.2 Kw (3 hp) spindle and ATC. You are running Mozaik software. I am afraid I can’t justify the cost, I am running FreeCad, and may just have to write a cabinet design program. ( I am a retired Mechanical Engineer/Software developer) So, Erie Insurance? Are you anywhere near Erie, I grew up in the Erie area.
Lots of lessons learned on this one. I like the ShopSabre, when it’s time to upgrade or add another one, likely reevaluate what’s in the market again. Mozaik is good, but only could justify it due to the number of cabinet jobs we do. It’s worth it if you do a decent volume. Not in Erie, a buddy owns a business that makes items with company logos and this was outside of what he normally does so asked me to make the units. We are in Nebraska.

?
that's neither scrap wood nor is it work.
Unless you put relief pockets on the opposite side, those doors will cup.
What’s the angle on that bit?
That is a 90 degree bit.
nice
Thanks for takin the time to make this video lots of good information
Would you be interested in making a video of the electrical setup on your shop Sabre? I have a pro 408 that I am going to be hooking up this week and I would like to know if you could share some info? I also have the F4 vacuum pump you have. Thanks, Brian
Happy to share the info. If you can DM me on Instagram, waterloowoodworks, and send me your email I will send over the info.
