IBD Ulcerative Colitis J Pouch Surgery Stoma Surgery Update Damaged Skin From Bag Leakage
#UlcerativeColitis #IBD
Hi Everyone my name is Hannah, welcome back to my channel!
I had the appointment with the surgeon for the result of the biopsies. Turns out I can decide what sort of surgery I want next. I haven't made my mind up yet and most likely won't for a few months whilst I take in all the information.
Also touching on the skin issues I have had again with my stoma and the leakage under the bag causing damaged and sore skin.

@@hannahsmedicaldiaries1927 are you going back to stoma from j pouch?
@hannahsmedicaldiaries1927 I will be having this procedure in few weeks, I heard it is a 60 cm tube, will the pain be bearable, some say they felt a mild discomfort not much pain but there are also people who say it was very painful.
I wonder what i have because i have jad chronic cramps, diarrhea for over a year and a half. Gastro console is set for August 23rd.
Hi.. your video is 2 yr old.. i was just wondering what stoma bags you are using now.. im trying to find a stoma bag & id be grateful if you would tell me what bags you are using & if you recommend it.. ty
I use the sensura mio bags at the moment :) they were the only ones where the sticky didnt react to my skin!
This video was so helpful! Im off tomorrow for a Flexi Sigmoidoscopy! aswell as a gastroscopy. I've left it to last minute to see what they'll be doing because I'm a very big worrier and didn't fancy having weeks and weeks of overthinking and worry - your video has really helped to put my mind to rest by a million percent. .Ive gone from thinking the worse to thinking - Meh its no where near as bad as i thought. Thank you for sharing your journey. I hope everything is going well for you. All the best Tiny
Hope all goes well for you :)

Thank you very much for sharing that. I’m experiencing similar issues. No drugs are working for me. I am terrified of surgery. Listening to you made me feel I’m not alone. So thank you ❤. I hope you are enjoying good health

I would say to make sure you talk everything through with your Dr's and surgeon to decide what is best for you x
I use a silicone collapsible cat bowl when changing my stoma.. it collapses flat so perfect for putting in your stoma bag when travelling
Thats a great idea
Little late to the party but I had a blockage and got a stoma and decided because of the whole variable thing to just keep it and know there should be no accidents other than pouch leaks. I talked to the doctor before deciding and was told the same thing about problems that might happen so as I said I am keeping it.
If it works for you thats great news :)
Bless you, been there up the behind and down the throat.❤🎉
ouch!
Hi hun, what we're your symptoms before your UC diagnosis? X
Hey, I was going to the bathroom 10-20 times a day, incredible urgency, lost a lot of weight, I would get quite bad tummy pains too and sometimes I would throw up too. Hope you are ok x
Hi.. Thanks for your video. Did this procedure cause even more inflammation and bleeding than you already had ? My doctor recently put in a referral for me to have a colonoscopy which I really don`t want to do because of the risks and possible complications involved. I would consider a sigmoidoscopy though since it is not as risky as the colonoscopy.
I did have a week or so with more pain than before, yes. Hope you are ok :)
I had to have one of these done today and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced, I actually passed out and woke up drenched in sweat and was extremely nauseous. After I got home I looked it up online and apparently some people do suffer to this extreme with some women claiming the pain was worse than child birth. I think it's safe to safe I won't be having another one unless they knock me out completely. I should also add that I am not new to pain because I have diseased bones in my spine which causes pain on a daily basis.
So sorry it was so painful for you. Hopefully if you need another it goes well :)
The grooves on ModaVi are for uneven skin and /or if you have dips around stoma, ModaVi are great bags .. Mio break my skin down
Ah that makes sense!
Hope you are ok xx I've had ulcerative colitis since I was 16. I'm 36 now and currently experiencing another flare up. The last Colonoscopy I had I swear he didn't sedate me, he was so rude. if anything he made it very clear that ( it was the end of the day) that he wanted to go home. I screamed in pain as you can imagine. All he had to say was.... you need to keep still or I cant do this.... the blood that came out was mental.
Thank you. Oh wow that snot good atall I am so sorry that happened to you. Hope you are doing ok x
Hey can I ask why you didn't need an enema?? X they always insist I have one
Hi, because I have a stoma so the rectum isn't currently connected to anything to need "flushing out" if that makes sense!
My bag keeps ballooning. I stopped drinking sodas for the most part. I drink lots of water throughout the day. Any help would be appreciated!
I did the same, I noticed if I ate later at night it ballooned more, and the less soda I had the less of a balloon too. Also, odd but I found I wasnt chewing my food as much as I should do so that gave more air too!
I drink less water and more squash. Stoma nurse advised this. Does help!
Thank you for sharing this, my wife is going through this now. ❤️
Hope she's doing ok :)
I am in the same boat.
Do you find anything helps you out?
I got the same procedure done when I developed UC back in March 2016. Well I first had the colonoscopy which officially diagnosed me. And then this one done the following month. I have since had my colon removed because I never truly felt better (I am now!) Only thing is that I still have to take a few meds and have to get a sigmoidoscopy done every now and then. I can say that I’ve made the best of it though. Before I get the tube inserted, I have my doctor check my prostate as cancer has run in my family. Kill two birds with one stone I guess. Sure it’s uncomfortable having both done but it’s worth it
Defiantly better to be safe than sorry isn't it. Are you doing better now though? The procedures are never fun are they but they keep us safe!
@@hannahsmedicaldiaries1927 Agreed, health comes first. Sometimes you have to endure brief uncomfortability for long term things And yes, I am mostly back to a normal life
Hope you're doing okay! Been there done that. Had my J pouch 20 years.
Heya, I am doing ok thanks, having a few skin issues around the stoma at the moment which isn't ideal! Hope you are doing ok too :)
Thank you for sharing ❤️
You're very welcome :)
