Lots of soundtrack hits for Whitney
cyndi vs madonna please
Love these videos so much! Do u still pan on doing 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s? One day I hope to do the same for Aus.
@@aussiemusiccharts glad you enjoy them!! i definitely plan on continuing the series, i hope to find the time to get started with the 80s shortly :)
Rolf Harris ending off the decade is wild
Janet is the Queen of Pop Whitney is the Queen of Voice
Please do more of these. Go back over the years in the uk.
i've done 1955 to 1979 with more on the way! check the playlist on my channel if you haven't :)
Amazing year of music, lacklustre batch of number ones
diet pepsi top 10 gag
glb blocked by some random rap song pmooooo
Wham! UK Christmas Number 1 for 2023 and 2024! Wow!
YAY youre back!
In December, Ariana became the first woman in over 60 years to chart 4 songs simultaneously inside the top 20 in the UK 🫧 (Santa Tell Me, Defying Gravity, Popular, What Is This Feeling?)
yes, and was actually pretty stable here rather than on the hot 100
birds of a feather being robbed of #1 here too 💔
can i say how much i love this style of top 10 chart histories?? the images being stills of the artist and not the album cover & the background being pure black 🖤
@@lexxsseyy glad you enjoy them! 💗
Why did please please please leave at #5
OMG YOU'RE BACK
hiii 😁
@@SummerFeverCharts YUUUUUUUHHHHH Where did you go to, bestie? lol
They need to remove the 3 songs rule
@SpicyPickles35 been wanting to upload for a while but kept getting sidetracked, hoping to get some more videos out in the new year!
@@chartcrazy101 THEY DO, ALONG WITH THAT STUPID ACR RULE OR WHATVER THE FUCK
This was Sabrina's year!!! Deserved. 💅
Love both but Whitney was #1
All top 10 songs from the first and second album should have been #1
Mi Tierra didn’t chart?
作るなら tiffany.debbie.ELISA.shanice.ana.Tracie Spencer 当時のアイドルをやるべき!!
I remember when singles used to enter the charts really low and took weeks to get to the highest position. It was on the news that Hand on your heart entered at No1 as that was unheard of back then
I think a good comparison of 80s teen pop should be: Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Menudo, New Edition, Tommy Page, New Kids On The Block, Martika, The Jets, Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, and Tracie Spencer. As for the late 80s dance artists, the following should be compared: Taylor Dayne, Exposé, Jody Watley, Stacey Q, Sweet Sensation, Stevie B, George Lamond, Denise Lopez, Pretty Poison, Seduction, the Cover Girls. Taylor Dayne was in a different lane in music compared to the 80s teen queens Debbie and Tiffany. This is evident when 80s teen pop was losing popularity fast in the 2nd half of 1990, and while most 80s artists lost much of their pop music relevance by 1992 and 1993.
Taylor Dayne is an underated singer..... The most powerful voice ever recorded....
Really interesting to see Whitney's cover of Star Spangled Banner shortly re-chart following 9/11. And sad to see her biggest hits re-chart again when she died in February 2012
very interesting video - some big surprises here. Top job. Well done.
@@David_F579 glad you enjoyed it! 💗
Thanks for doing this. I wanted to do it but it’s too much work for me 😂 😅
Janet fans cling to that alleged "blacklist" like an inmate on death row has excuses. The truth is that Janet's post millennium output was bad-very, very bad. Crap like "Just A Little While" and "So Excited" wasn't going anywhere near the top. The SB fallout just sped up what was already coming.
I get your point, but the inmate comparison was unnecessary.
Bye bye bye became viral in 2024 because of Deadpool and Wolverine
she deserved this and more irl
It's so incredible seeing the huge amount of George 's top selling singles.(and with Wham too of course) ❤ We miss you sooooo much sweerheart😔
I really can't wait for the 80's era to begin.
I love Whitney's voice, but Janet has more variety in her music. Janet has the better quality catalog.
Favorite Phil Collins / Genesis songs came near the end of their chart run : Hold On My Heart Everyday
Taylor Dayne hands down
Both ended city girls wbk
now why do you have ur homework as ur pfp lmaooo 😭
@@MehaanThaj nonono it’s chill lol i was just wondering 😆
@@antbing1831 Oh sorry I just wanna prove to this community that I slayed on a test and have officially grown up, no longer the dumb 10 year old I was last year(btw I was actually 14/15 but I did act like a 10 year old)
Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation 1814” was not to be played with. The era still holds the record for the highest grossing debut tour in history, the only album to spawn 7 top 5 hit singles on Billboard Hot 100, and the first album to have #1 singles in 1989, 1990, and 1991.
My favourites: Gettin Jiggy With It (Will Smith) I Get Lonely (Janet Jackson) Love Lockdown (Kanye West) Circus (Britney Spears) Mine (Taylor Swift) The Edge Of Glory (Lady Gaga) She Will (Lil Wayne) Payphone (Maroon 5) I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor Swift) Berzerk (Eminem) The Monster (Eminem) No Tears Left To Cry (Ariana Grande) Godzilla (Eminem) Holy (Justin Bieber) Stay (The Kid Laroi) Unholy (Sam Smith) Kill Bill (Sza)
Alright 1978, wow. First of all I wanna apologize, I know I haven’t kept up with my reviews but I’ve just been so busy with family stuff lately, but finally I made time to make a review on this, and since I just saw the 1979 one just came out I will hopefully be doing a review for that tomorrow as well. But anyway on with this review. First I wanna say this was a fire year, full of many classics. The number 1’s are as strong as they’ve ever been. Many classics here for here. The Grease soundtrack absolutely DOMINATED with Your the One that I want and Summer Nights in particular each accruing multiple weeks at number 1. And a few more songs from the soundtrack also becoming top 5 hits. Now at this point just like in the U.S Disco is really becoming the dominant force of music…but it’s not quite as prominent here in the U.K though, which is somewhat surprising. It’s around in the Top 10, but it’s not consistently churning up number 1 hits like in the U.S, I mean heck The Bee Gees dominated roughly half a year in the U.S with Disco but not so much here. Now punk-rock is still chugging along steadily with new acts popping up, most notably the Boomtown Rats who had their first number 1 with “Rat Trap”. Surprisingly there’s a good number of songs in the top 10 that failed to reach the top 10 in the U.S, songs like Blame it On the Boogie or my Best Friends Girl. There’s a good amount of diversity here too, I mean by this point in the U.S the charts were filled with almost completely Disco songs, with power pop being the only thing to stand against it. but here there’s Disco, punk-rock, pop, and Funk. Overall some great diversity here that just wasn’t there in the U.S. So yeah overall a great year, and I’d argue the best year the U.K has had in a bit. Now for best and worst number 1’s, and once again extending my best list. Best; 5.Y.M.C.A (Village People) 4.Night Fever (Bee Gees) 3. Da YaThink I’m S*xy? (Rod Stewart) 2.Take a Chance on Me (ABBA) 1. Summer Nights (John Travolta and ONJ) Worst;Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs (Brian and Michael)
The Magic that is ABBA scored 6 top 5 hits in this year[Angeleyes/Voulez vous was a double A side.
yes! i definitely think they deserved #1 with gimme gimme gimme or angeleyes/voulez-vous
and that's it for the 70s! this was a really interesting decade to watch play out and i'm so excited to see what the 80s has to offer :) thanks for watching! 💗
Janet was getting these girls together in the 80’s and 90’s. Remember, Janet is the only woman in history to have 18 consecutive top 10’s on the billboard charts. On the “greatest artists of all times” list on billboard, Janet ranked higher than Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston at #7.
*The Greatest Love Of All* should've been Whitney's debut single.
I'm pretty sure it was a deliberate choice by Davis to release that single after Whitney had some momentum.
Daydream by Mariah could've been here if they had released just one more single 😭😭😭 the hype was certainly there, Fantasy debut at #1 for 8 weeks-One Sweet Day #1 for 16 weeks-Always Be My Baby #1 for 2 weeks AND #2 for 9 weeks... too bad it didn't happen
Wuthering Heights ♥♥♥♥
Wow! This is a classic year. Some of my favourite songs topped the chart this year including my fave OAT Kate making her debut with a bang! Also, Take a Chance on Me ended Dancing Queen…
Mary’s Boy Child still gets a lot of airplay at Xmas here
