    Nice video. I liked the points you made about Hamlet caring about himself and not Ophelia being displayed by Shakespeare’s usage of personal pronouns and imagery when Hamlet was talking to Laertes.

    It's very interesting to me how Macbeth was initially very invested and believed in the witch's prophesies (of him becoming king and also later on when he visits them again), but in this act, he is trying to go against what the witches have told them. I think this ties very nicely with your interpretation of Cain and Abel's theme and the primary reason why he commits this murder.

      @@5QShakespeare I suppose the narrative that Macbeth is opposed to killing Duncan as he is fearful of the consequences, whereas Lady Macbeth cares less of the consequences and comes up with a flawed plan to avoid the consequences. I guess people were more religious and people draw comparison between the fall of mankind into suffering and the demise of the Macbeths.

    I watch the soliloquy and while it was very helpful, I found myself not agreeing with some of the conclusions that you came to.

    I've been listening to Hamlet character analysis for the past three days and this series is definately in my top two so far, next to the Legends of Literature Hamlet, hour-long analysis. Although, your individual character analysis are much more in-depth and very interesting to listen to. Thank you for making these videos.

      @@afterzanzibar Vast indeed. Good question. Hmm. We start with what we're interested in. "Analysis" explains it, I suppose. My head is full of the stuff I'm interested in, like everybody's. As I'm reading and re-reading, the particular stuff in my head appears to map onto the stuff on the page. Like: "WOW, that article about psychopathology really sounds like Claudius!" If I can find enough evidence to prove the connection, I'm confident I have a solid claim. That's what Analysis means. In art, music, etc... Does that make sense? That's why there are so many ways to approach a work. Everyone has different stuff in their heads.

      @@5QShakespeare Yes, it makes sense. I would love to do videos or write articles or papers like this but I think I just get overwhelmed by the amount of information swimming around my head and don't quite know where to begin and how to structure it. Thank you for the reply.

      At the end of the play, he defiantly accepts his fate. True. But I'd argue there's always something cowardly about bullies and conniving, backstabbing snakes. Thanks for the comment.
