Is it possible to scope Microsoft defender for O365 to a subset of users rather than tenant wide? 3. If we limit the licenses to a certain subset of users rather than tenant wide for above services ( if they are possible) , what impact would that have on services like Defender for Identity and Entra ID identity protection ? 4. What is your recommendation in terms of E5 licenses for users who don’t have a mailbox and don’t have endpoint devices , say they don’t have a laptop and mailbox attached to user, but only use SSL VPN to access company apps?

This is not a good comparison. In fact it is a terrible comparison. What VMware product were you actually comparing? VMware workstation beats a local Windows 10 Hyper-V hands down in terms of functionality but costs money. The enterprise version of VMware vSphere (with vCenter as the centralised management platform and ESXi which is the Hypervisor which runs on bare metal) is so much better than the Microsoft equivalent (System Center - Virtual Machine Manager)! Again VMware is more expensive, but not as much as what you'd think. ESXi is a much more efficient hypervisor than Hyper-v. And if you are going for a small deployment of 3 nodes or less, then VMware is cheaper than Microsoft.

Their licensing program is simple….; if you have lots of cores, and need Enterprise SQL, come back when you have about an extra $400k-$500K!

How can I do the Downgrade from Windows server Data center 2022 subscription to 2019 ?

We have a dual processor server with 56 cores both. We installed windows server 2022 for 56 cores. When we request a price proposal for sql server 2022 enterprise with SA for 56 cores the bill come with a very high price that the customer reject immediately. Is there any possibility to license only 24 cores from this server for sql server?

does it mean we can use the same product key to downgrade ?
