Mt Rainier, Washington - Snow Hiking
Road Trip Day: Thirty-Nine. Not going to play coy about it, this hike intimidated me due to the slippery packed ice. On a more geographic note, Mt Rainier, the iconic glaciated volcanic peak, dominates the view from as far away as Seattle. Snows lie heavily upon the mountain trails, but adventure awaits. Let's go! Wait. Did I bring my ice spikes? Oh snap-dragons... Please comment & subscribe, thanks! www.youtube.com/@mmlifeonpurpose?sub_confirmation=1

how long is your rv? how many columns did you use 4 or 6?
Our RV is thirty-three feet long and we used 8 supports. Probably more than we needed, but the camper is very stable. Thanks for watching!

The one thing I would like to say for people that do this. Yes, it’s a good idea. If you know how you’re supposed to do it once it’s put together do remember that does not mean that you can leave your holding tank valves all open and just expect to use it like a normal house, that’s how poop pyramids happen in your black water tank so please if you are going to leave any gate valve open at least leave just your gray water and your black water tank fills up then drain it just like you normally drain it if you’re not at a permanent structure
Excellent point and I am very glad that you made this comment! We keep both black and grey valves closed so that we get a "good flush" when emptying the tanks. We also rinse the black tank regularly. Very important advice, thanks again!
My dad visited from the east coast ages ago in 1998. We went here. There was a sign "don't stick your fingers thru this grid" or something to that effect. I was about to stick my finger thru, and my dad said "I wouldn't do that". Just that second lightening-bolt-fast a sea lion sat up from the ledge and had its teeth right where my finger was going. THis attraction blew his mind (and still does mine).
Wow! I don't know if that is fun or scary...probably both! One of the experiences that made an impression on me was how loud it was in the caves with all of the seals barking. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know little to nothing about most things related to full time living in RV’s. Sadly, im learning as I go and it can be rough. I’m amazed to come accross your videos. There are few like this actually addressing these issues so I’m very grateful! A bit overwhelmed actually too because my trailer is definitely not well stabilized like this and certainly lacks underpinning. Anyway, I’m not clear what benefit you have here adding these sewer pipes? You will still need to empty your tanks so how is this helpful? Again, please forgive my ignorance here. Thank you!
Good question! Firstly, it is more sanitary because you never have to touch the hoses again. The rv hoses that folks use when weekend camping deteriorate with long term exposure to the sun. The pained pvc does not. Also, the "slinky" never completely drains because the pipe is corrugated and the pvc, if installed with correct slope will drain. We also included a clean out access should a clot occur. At three years of use we have not had any issues. I hope this answers your question. Feel welcome to let us know if you have other questions!
Those snow walls are crazy tall!
Yeah, right?!?! We understand that a lot of the snow is piled up from snow blowers clearing the road, but the impact of snow that high above ones head is still fun, impressive...scary.
Looks delicious
It is! Thanks for watching and commenting!
i live in lenior nc ive went up there so many times the veiw is amazing u can see wlms and hhs but i wish they kept the gate open so people could take dirtbikes and stuff up there
My friend who was hiking with us might agree with you! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks so amazing and perfect for the Christmas season
Thank you - and for watching, too!
What’s the purpose for the piece of wood on top of the blocks I’m trying to do these on my rv
The wood acts as a cushion between the steel frame and the blocks. This is necessary to avoid cracking the blocks due to normal vibration and minor movement. Thanks for watching!
You don't get altitude sickness from that rapid of a change in altitude?
No. We do have to make some hiking speed adjustments if we are in an altitude much different from what we are used to due to breathing rates, but, thankfully, we haven't had any significant issues. Thanks for watching!
That's a lot of snow! Beautiful
Glad you enjoyed! I've got a video coming up from when we hiked in Mt. Rainier Nat. Park. Whew. I'll leave that story for later. Thank you for your comment!
Not many people find Potato Top, beautiful view, I found it after trying to find a short cut. If you get to the top of the falls, there is a trail along the creek. About 75 yds up there is a 5' ledge all the way across the river. Before you get to it, the trail veers off to the left. It dead ends back at the creek. There is a great water slide here. Walk up the center of the creek, there is a large pool. on the river right side is a water slide worn smooth by the water. We went up there in July and Aug to swim. also hiked up the creek until it intersects the AT. From here is a short hike to Dennis Cove.
Wow, thanks for the info! We love finding places like that and may add it to our next hike to Laurel. Regarding Potato Top, we went past it a couple of times, but persistence paid off. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I wish you guys were in PA I need your expertise!

The electronics problem was spooky!
I thought it was a bit unnerving. I've had folks ask me if that actually happened. It really did happen, and it stopped after we left the Roswell area.
There Are Petroglyphs All Around Tucson.
Thanks for the tip and for watching! I typically want to go back to places I've visited because there always seems to be interesting things we didn't see the first time. Hope to return to Tucson someday!
Man. I work on the USS Hornet CV-12. Even though she's only 2 years older, it's AMAZING how different they look. Of course, the Midway also lasted about 20 years longer in commission...
It is interesting to hear that two years made such a difference. Makes me want to learn more. Thanks for sharing!
I have no idea why youtube keeps suggesting me these tiny channels but I'm just so happy to support! God bless!!
Thank you! Your support is appreciated!
I was forward deployed onboard the USS Midway CV-41. Best ship I served on of my 3 carriers. I was single had a great time on my 4 years onboard. Midway Magic!
Midway Magic - sounds like you have some stories! Thanks for sharing your connection with the USS Midway!
The USS Midway was the sister ship to the USS Coral Sea CV 43 and was our carrier when deployed 1987/1988 med cruise with our f-18"s and airwing CAG-13 , Great memories the 2 ships were almost identical and thanks for the video !
We are glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for sharing your connection. It is great to hear personal experiences; we certainly enjoyed our visit!
" A Horse with No Name ".... would also be appropriate . nice video !!!
Yes, it would have been; thanks for watching!
It's beautiful!! Never heard of it. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for watching!
Loved it. Dd
Thanks!
Very informative Video !!! ..... starting with the center blocks, how much weight are you taking off the tires and axles and are you working from the axles outward to the ends of the camper ?
Yes, we started closest to the axles and worked outward. We raised the frame two to three inches. Thanks for watching!
Such a nice looking trail, gorgeous adventure guys!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much. Been trying to tell my family that this would work for the past 3 years. Going to go measure about how high my trailer supports are from the ground and see how many approx. blocks I will need. They think I'm crazy to live in my camper in their backyard for the past 3 years.
Fantastic! I think that is great! Many of our friends and family think we are a little crazy, too. We are working on almost two years and love it!
@@mmlifeonpurpose I've been living in my RV for the past 3 years. In their back yard. I've tried to tell them I should block it up and underpin it and I want one of those roofs over top for shade. In full sun, in TX during this heat wave. On fixed income so saving to get the things I need. I'm 66 with knee and back problems so slow going. Did get them to hook me up to the septic with pvc. One of the best things I've gotten done.
I got 2. We don't watch the same movies.
Volume #2 will be coming out soon. Maybe some of those will be familiar. :)
How did you fasten the wooden boards down?
We used rebar, steel pipe hanger and screws to make the "base" for the foam. forward the video to about 2:58 for that part. Almost two years later and the underpinning is still great! I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
colleague- like it-you uploaded nice ~take it easy!
