Breathe & Tangle - First Tangles
Let's Breathe & Tangle! I'm Diane Harpster, Certified Zentangle Teacher. @dianeharpsterczt6569 . Some of the first tangles I learned are still go-tos for me when I just want to fully relax and enjoy a time of meditative creating. Here I'm drawing Crescent Moon, Hollibaugh, Tipple, and Flux.

Is there a name for the flower shaped tangle?
@@debbywhitsitt7336 not that I know of. It’s a combination of a gem in the middle, surrounded by Pepper and Flux.

Diane, beautiful outcome, but as a newbie to this art, I find I am not as fully engaged in the process without verbal instructions. Guess I am old school in that I must "listen to the teacher." Would have helped me to know which of the 4 tangles you were working on as you demonstrated them.
@@maryannemilak7438 I understand these videos are for those who really just want a quiet and relaxing time to tangle I do offer a one-on-one beginner Zoom class for those who want to learn the basics of the Zentangle practice. And eventually I may offer videos with talking!

I’m so new to tangling, and I have trouble getting g my brain to do all the intricate squiggles. Also, is there a rule to shading? I never know where to put it
Welcome to the practice of Zentangle! It’s been life-changing for me. I suggest taking a class with a Certified Zentangle Teacher to get a background in the basics of this as a practice. I offer a one-on-one online session that can get you going. Zentangle is so much more than the drawing itself. Check out Zentangle.com for all kinds of resources from the folks who came up with this wonderful method of creating!

What a gorgeous tangle!!!! When you started I thought it would be poke root or poke leaf, what a wonderful surprise, I have not seen this one before and I love it!!! I love how you filled it with so many other tangles! The tile is gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing it! By the way, did you know you can buy a pencil extender, you slip the short pencil in and voila, you can use it right to the very end!!!

Well Diane, I've drawn this tile once. Elegan and I have never had a great relationship :-P but I'm determined to practice some more until I get a nice flow to the line. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yes, it’s one of those tangles that feels like it takes repetition to get it to flow easily. I also find that it’s one that can look so different for different tanglers, and it gets only more beautiful with the shading/highlighting. Even when I’m not tally impressed with my linework! 😉.
