Great instructions and video , what is the peak height of the arches? Is it Greater than 8ft tall for my car to go under? Thank you.
Yeah peak height is higher than 8ft. I'm not exactly sure what the height but it was at least at 10ft peak height.
My driveway is a parking lot, it’s probably 35-40ft across but cool idea. Beautiful to see your kids working with you on a cool project I’m sure they were excited about.
I couldn’t nothing but smile and laugh when the 5yr old came to the camera and introduced herself.
I would start with a base of net light to cover more area then add string lights where i wanted more lights. This was a lot of work you put in and it was definitely worth it. Very nice outcome.
@amandabriggs7255 thank you for watching! There are a lot of ways to get creative with the lights. The neighborhood kids have had a lot of fun playing under it. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for sharing. I have been trying to make an arch driveway for years. I hope i can tackle this one.
This is so cool. I’m not sure I can make one this big yet but I’m going to try a small arch this year and go bigger in the future if it goes well. Thanks for sharing!
What size is the round board? Thanks for the help!
Pvc may bend but steal pipe makes it top heavy and could be dangerous if it were to fall
You should be able to slide the 3/4 pvc pipe over the 1/2 rebar. Unless you got thin wall pvc pipe. Nice setup.
@tylerkelley8857 Thank you for watching! Yeah the pvc would have fit over the rebar but not very snug with the pvc I used. The kids in the neighborhood have had a lot of fun riding bikes through it. It's been really good so far. Merry Christmas!
I've found awesome plans on woodprix . just check them out.
This is awesome! Looking forward to trying this! I have some spare 1/2" PVC, do you think the arch would hold up with that diameter, rather than 3/4", or would that not be sturdy enough?
Yeah i think I would work with 1/2inch pvc. It may be a little more wiggly, but if you secure it good with pvc it should be fine. If you think it isn't sturdy enough just wrap some guy wire and stake it to the ground on each side to help stabilize it. Hope it turns out well. Merry Christmas!
@@OutoftheWeeds Thanks for the feedback, gonna give it a shot!
An exact copy of that 5 year old video. Santa Monica Drain Co.
Curios where you found that star?
@@christopherstone2828 www.amazon.com/dp/B07R4YGQL9/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_1KFZ3EZP9VYH68F3YZ1T_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 That is the link to it. Thank you for watching!
Great idea, I also live in Indiana and I had a 20' tree last year made of PVC and the wind destroyed it. Definitely doing steel this year
Thank you for watching! The biggest issue to deal with with steel is the weight and how top heavy it gets. Hope it all works out well!
Maybe I'll run 4 points of some 1/8 cable from top to bottom at same degree as the lights are, won't trip over it and should make it sturdy
Great job! I use an old tether ball pole that a local school was giving away that is 10’, then I just added a 5’ piece of piping I had from an old volleyball set. 15’ is plenty for me! Made a similar topper and it’s up down up down with those darn lights haha. After for storage I gather the lights snug against the pole and tie cuts of rope about every foot all the way down the pole so that the lights will stay put. Next year just prop up the pole, cut the rope ties, and boom… lights are dangling in place (for the most part). Thanks for sharing, great job!!!
@tro8191 Thank you for watching! Your idea is awesome. Trying to get it 20+ ft is always a challenge. It's so top-heavy. I've always considered installing a flag pole base and having it level with the ground so that I can still mow over it during the year. Then, when Christmas comes around, I can just drop it in the hole.
@@OutoftheWeeds that makes a lot of sense! My issue is I rent (live in the SF Bay Area where 2 bdrm homes are over a million dollars🙄) , so my set up needs to be removable, so it works. Happy holidays to ya!
This looks awesome, what was the cost start to finish to do something like this?
@jaydentaylorvlogs Thank you for watching! I don't remember exactly, but adding up my materials list it's somewhere between $250-$350 if you have to buy everything.
@ thank you! Super helpful and super do-able/in the budget. It’s crazy what companies are charging for something similar.
my driveway is 21ft wide. Last year I used 2 inch and had to bolt them cause they were so stiff! Which diameter would you think so they are strong but a little more bendable?
I used 3/4 in. It was very flexible. I think much more than that, and it would get pretty stiff. Thank you for watching!
@bobbySullivan, I am looking to do this this year on a 21 ft wide driveway...did you find the arch to be high enough with this supply list or did you have to add more length across?
This was so helpful, thank you for sharing and your helpers are adorable.
@@lisadominguez7560 Thank you for watching! They had a lot of fun helping!
I like you use of PVC anchors instead of rebar
Yeah. That works well for those whose soil isn't full of rocks just 2 inches down, like here in Texas. I'd have to resort to rebar here, unfortunately.
Great job girls! ❤
Good advice appreciated
@@JorgeCruz-c8c Thank you for watching!
Great video! Your explanations are great and really liked how you explained your reasoning. The lights look fantastic. I’m doing RGB lights with music and happen to find your arches video.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I hope that your project turns out great.
I have contacted you by email. If you are interested in testing the smart irrigation controller, please reply to me.
Hello, are you interested in trying our smart irrigation controller?😊
I let my seed lay dormant this year for 2-3 weeks. Had 14-15 days of rain and it took off. I guess I debunked the theory about seed drying up and not germinating.
Looks good, all things considered. You are definitely having some bad luck with that back lawn!
I appreciate it. Yeah I've been battling the back for months. Haha
looks great! what seed did you use?
Thanks for watching! I used Barenbrug regenerating perennial ryegrass (RPR).
I like the content of your videos very much I want to say something about your videos

That Kentucky 31 is a super shady marketing tactic to trick the consumer that they are getting the better old school kbg.
Yeah it tricks a lot of people. Thank you for watching!
Interested to see how this will turn out as mid-August to present has been brutal in Indy. Billbugs killed my KBG so I’m moving to TTTF.
@vissarionnvoich3450 Yeah the weather has been absolutely no help at all. Full Sun and high 80s with no rain. It hasn't seen a drop of rain since I planted it. I'll show it's progress in my next video. Thank you for watching!
Just remember tall fescue is deep rooted and if you only have a shallow layer of top soil over poor soil or heavy clay as I have it might not do as well especially in full sun with drought conditions or regular hot weather. Thanks, great video !
Where did you get the lights?
@DRIZEEMOTO Menards has typically been my go-to. I can usually find pretty big reels of lights and a good selection.

@@genevievemassucci8787 Thank you! We are trying to decide what we want to build for this year.haha
Comment for the algorithm. Where are you located? What kind of grass do you have? Kind of important for viewers.
Central Indiana. Cool Season grass, but currently there is just about nothing growing in my lawn.
@OutoftheWeeds thanks! Your back yard water view looks like some Alabama housing places I know. Good luck with the yard!
Thank you for your video. I learned a lot about nutsedge I have it in my lawn I don't like it.
Thank you for watching! Yeah nutsedge is a pain. Hopefully you can get it knocked out!
Great teaching🙏🏽🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🙏🏾 Your yard looks great ( Kudos )
Thank you! I miss my old lawn. Hopefully the new one looks like this soon!haha
Great content Sir.. I enjoy your approach and personality . Thank You 🙏🏼
I appreciate the compliment. Thanks for watching!
How big were your 1 1/4 base pieces and how far did you hammer them in. Did they go straight in or did you have to cut them to points on them.
They were about 2 1/2 feet long and I just hammered them straight in as far as I could. The clay soil where I'm at makes it really hard to hammer anything very deep. I got them in about a foot or so deep. Thank you for watching!
You need to cut grass. It’s not looking great
I hope our weeds go away soon 😢
You wasted 3 1/2 minutes babbling.
Great video!!!😅

@OutoftheWeeds ive been watching for years. Always great content!!!
@davidgonzales-ec8bo Thanks for the support. It took a while for the channel to gain some traction. It makes it a lot more enjoyable getting to interact with people and hear what they are dealing with in their lawns. You are definitely one of the earliest people to comment on my videos. It means a lot!
@OutoftheWeeds i used to watch your american flag lawn video, your fertilizer burn video, and many more. You have a nice demeanor. Youre one of my favorites, but i have a lot of lawntube favorites.
@davidgonzales-ec8bo I appreciate that! My first American Flag video was what convinced me to get started with making the channel. It's been a lot of fun.
Great video
Thank you! I appreciate it.
I mow the day before I blanket spray and follow the wheel tracks. I try and walk the same pace as I do when I mow. My front yard is 4400 sqft and most of the time I have to mix one more gallon to finish with my 4 gallon backpack sprayer. Yes, when full, they are heavy lol.
@jonnyrozzo9168 Yeah I was taken back by the weight.haha I felt like if I fell on my back I'd be stuck like a 🐢. It definitely makes spraying way easier though!
i just got a backpack sprayer recently. so much better than carrying the sprayer
I completely agree. That was my first time using one and it was great! It made the whole process of spraying way more convenient. Thank you for watching!
