I thought I saw every Catskill video, I had never seen the Homowack open in a vid. Nice. Looked like everyone was having fun and being nice.
GREAT VIDEO ...VERY SAD,,,,,COPS AND FIREMEN I BET BURNT THE PLACE DOWN IN SUMMER OF 2023,,,,,,VERY SUSPICIOUS,,,,,,WHO THE HECK WOULD BE BOTHERED DOING THAT.....THESE PLACES WHERE HISTORICAL SITES
It was a landmark. That place holds lots of memories for many of us. B4 fire I would go see it every so often. There was a special feeling I'd get just looking at it. I have seen it after fire :( :( :(
i have been wanting to see it for years.....now i cant,,,,special feeling just looking at it i agree@@helenenicolene7374
Cool original songs 👍🏼
Very nice, you've made a great town. Merry Christmas 🎁🌲!
Really great old movies and stills of a beautiful resort. Really enjoyed the video. Hate the music you chose, which does not go with the images at all and is irritating as H**. Sad to see the abandoned state of the once beautiful resort. All things must pass. This music was much more appropriate for this section of the video.
So happy to see you spreading good news
Love this!
This is great. I love this. Ty Marguerite and Tommy. We are so proud to be doing so many good things on SI.
The closing isn’t what’s that sad. Businesses come and go, even our favorite places. The level of desecration and destruction these places sustain in such a short period of time from meth-head scrappers and disrespectful teenagers that really depresses me. Why is the appeal in destroying something when a) it does not belong to you b) you completely kill any chance of the place ever opening again and c )it’s a dying part of history with not many people around who still remember it’s glory days? There is no purpose and I would probably slash their tires if I ever was up there again and caught someone vandalizing this former palace.
Awesome!!
💕💕💕
We sound pretty good I think
I was a waiter there in 1985. Could it really have been that long ago?
OMG Saw Homowack first then went to your channel and found Rocking Horse !!! Been there... Roaring Brook too ! You?
Hi Homowackers, Unfortunately I've never been there but did go many places like it in the Lake George area and the 'Borscht Belt'. I particularly enjoyed the 'dude ranches' with horseback riding and fireplaces in the fall. Love and miss you 💓 Mom !!!
Great video. What year was that shot?. I worked there from 66-70. Also I believe that was Phil Carter in the video making with the jokes.
Magical video.. I miss that place... and that time in my childhood.. So cool to see remaining photos of areas like in front of the pinball machines... I remember that spot but haven't had a clear visual for so long... Even though it isn't my family in the photos... I feel myself in your vacation lol.. ... thanks for sharing... wonderful precious touching visual collage..
Great video! Such a shame the place, much like Nevele, is in such disrepair. Wish pesky vandals would stop trashing these places.
Worked there as tennis pro in the 60s. Place was beautiful. Greatest people to work with.
Great cover!
I worked at the Homowack as a busgirl during the summers and holidays when I was in college between 1981-83. I met my husband there- he was a waiter and I was his busgirl. Such fond memories! I wasn't allowed to roam the hotel and didn't realize how nice it was back then.
Paul fitzpatrick I was well before you time because I worked there in July/August 1969 when Woodstock was on. Really the best place I ever worked. That looks like Phil Carter at 1.35 about to empty the pool. I worked in the night club bar where Otto Karen was manager. I was the only irish amongst a load of Jews but it was great fun. Great video and brings back great memories. I liked the old part best. Very sad to see it like that
So sad two see here like this
I know it is. I wish there was a way to fix it up and have it back as a family resort.
Helene Nicolene they could it’s more if there was just someone out there who’d be willing to get it all fix up 😔, maybe one day someone will tho😊!
@@helenenicolene7374 unfortunately the world has changed. Probably not for the better. . Thanks for the video.
worked there in the early 90s as a lifeguard, great memory's
Worked there in summer of '62 as a hotel photographer. Great times!!
Helene, have you received a phone call from a realtor named David requesting you take down your video?
It was shot without trespassing so why does he care? Besides, it was bought at a tax auction 2 years prior to your comment.
@@jimmartin7881 mind your business
@@GabrielEspinosa7 David said to keep his name out of your mouth.
@@jimmartin7881 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABABAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. DAVID DAVID DAVID DAVID. What of it?
@@jimmartin7881 is that a threat? Because if it is, you can tell your BOY to bring it.
I worked there when I was a teenage as a busboy and waiter. It was awesome back then. Made a lot of money. Its a sad ending to a great time period in our American history.
Worked there as a busgirl 81-83. A lot of great memories!
Cool ...keep it up ya,lll
Most of the other big hotels are in the same shape, if they haven't been torn down or burned down. A shame!
