On September 29th 2024 I attended New Mexico Heritage Rail's 2nd annual New Mexico Railroad Days event. The locomotive backed out of the event site at the turntable at 2:00pm and had to wait until Amtrak Southwest Chief #3 was refueled and Railrunner to pass. Once the mainline was clear, the 2926 crew was given clearance and at 4:00pm the locomotive left the Albuquerque Railyards. I headed to Marquette Avenue to watch the train go by, and while recording, 2926 hit trackspeed at 20mph on its way home to the restoration site.
