MGB Electronic Ignition! Making the change 1977-80
In this video, I make the switch from points to an Accuspark electronic distributor (same instructions for Pertronix). It's not as straightforward since the '77-80 uses the 1.5 ohm coil and the ballast wire that runs up around the front of the car.

MGB Rearview Mirror Always Blocking my Vision - Let's lower it!

MGB Head Gasket Debate - Payen, Fel-Pro, Lucas, Which do I use??
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
The MGB comes with a standard copper head gasket that tended to leak coolant on the right side of the engine. The Payen AK660 become the go-to replacement, which is the same as the Fel Pro 21183C gasket. Recently, anyone purchasing one of these gaskets has found that they have changed and are NOT as good! See the video for the differences. Lucas now produces a heavy duty gasket as well. 00:00 P...

      you can do that! But, I heard with the original iron valve guides, the o-ring design might actually allow a little oil to "lube" the guide.

    On my '72 MGB I need to replace my driver's side foam on the bottom seat part (not the backrest). Is my seat similarly constructed as this one? Do I need any new hardware too, or just the foam and rubber straps?

    • @mcnamarasgarage
      @mcnamarasgarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      72 should be same like this seat (my '73 was just like this too). The early cars had a rubber diaphragm thing that they did away with. Check the Moss catalog to double check the years. Foam and rubber straps should do it...the straps come with the hooks.

    Naval jelly is, indeed, terrifically useful. If you let phosphoric acid sit on your skin long enough it will soak into your tissues and kill the cells deeper in your skin & muscles without you knowing it at the time. Symptoms are, hours later, an ache in your fingers like you slammed them in a door. If you're lucky, you get to the emergency room soon enough and they fit you with rubber gloves with an acid neutralizer that soaks your hands & fingers all night, along with direct needle injections into the meaty parts of your fingers every hour. Then you get to keep your fingers. If you are not lucky or wait too long, you don't pay the hospital an arm & a leg, but they do get to keep your fingers as a tip. Wear PPE when handling acids such as this. I'll let someone else harp on the wire wheel fun & games. On the upside, no running angle grinders were juggled in this video.
