I'm pretty new to the Vocaloid/Utau/VSynth/ect. fandom, but I *think* I understand everything now and I'm loving everything about it (except for NSFW songs I hate those). So far Teto is my favorite vocal synth. I absolutely adore these talkoid-style videos, and yours have been especially funny and well-made! Do you have any advice for how to get started using Vocaloid and similar software and what freeware is available to start with? (I know that Utau is free and I've heard most voicebanks have a "lite" version but aside from that I'm completely in the dark on where to start)

@@keithblevinsgraphics Aw I'm glad you think so highly of me akjshfadjksgfkjd I personally use Mac so the resources I have for utau is a little bit different than what most people use. I use utau-synth, which is the mac version of utau and it's not as flexible as regular utau from what I've heard. On that note, a lot of people are using Open-Utau, which is a fanmade version of utau that's much more accessible and has much more features (I haven't tried it myself but I've heard from my friends that it's really nice). As for the Lite versions you mentioned, those are specifically for Synthesizer V. I've had SynthV Pro for a while now and from my experience, it's very user friendly. There's two versions of the editor, basic and pro. Basic is free, only goes up to 3 tracks (which is a lot nicer than the utau default one track so it's a win in my book), and doesn't have the multi lingual function for the full AI voices. Pro has unlimited tracks, multi lingual function (meaning that AI voices can fluently sing in languages other than the one they were recorded in) as well as vocal modes for those AI voices and much more. Back to the Lite voices, those are free versions of the AI voices. They can't sing in other languages (unless you make their default language *sound* like another language) and they have noticeable engine noise. You can't use them commercially but they are still really good quality imo and worth messing around with. If you're looking for free vocal synths, I recommend Open-Utau and SynthV. I think with Open-Utau, you can type the romaji for japanese lyrics and it will still work? It doesn't always work in regular utau (it depends on how the voicebank was made). SynthV also can read english letters for japanese. I don't know much about Open-Utau but if you need help finding SynthV resources I'd be more than happy to help :D

I’ve been casually learning it on the side for a few years now, I can read hiragana and katakana and I’m working on learning kanji I can understand a decent amount when I’m listening, but by no means am I fluent

@@LapisPZ is it hard to cover/make Vocaloid and utau songs? I wish i had a normal pc so i could make covers too but i can barely read any hiragana and katakana lol

Honestly when it comes to making vocaloid/utau covers, understanding the basics of music is far more important than knowing Japanese. You can find files (like ust or vsqx) (file types for utau and vocaloid respectively) for download that other people have made. The files already have the note and lyric placement done for you, and you can tune it as you like! Personally, I’ve never used vocaloid (a friend helped me render the vocaloid audio for this cover), but from what I’ve seen, synthv is the most user friendly! And there are plenty of free assets you can use with it too! The basic editor is free, and so are the lite voices. You don’t need to know Japanese at all for it either.

ALSO!!! I don’t have a traditional pc lol I use a laptop for all my content (if that’s what you meant by not having a normal pc?) so it’s definitely possible to get into covers without fancy tools

I’m not going to continue this series, I got too much harassment over it. I’m currently working on a larger talkloid project, I’m over halfway done with it! I hope you’ll enjoy it when it comes out.
