Im a trucker. For about 4 years lived in the truck ,no rent, no mortgage, and of course i ran into this dilemma and i said f it and rented an apartment, that was 3 years ago, still renting it. There about 2 days a month. But here is something to consider, car insurance and banking. Cant use a po box as an official address where you reside for banks, brokerages, or insurance companies. That is main reason i decided to piss away my money renting an apartment im never at. If you get in an accident, your insurance might not pay if you dont actually reside at whatever is on your policy. Hell i even told my insurance company look, im in the truck almost always and my car is parked at my home terminal, so lets use that address. They said nope, has to be your home address. Did you know you cant just go to some other country to live and still maintain a us bank account without a us home address? Same with brokerages. We basically live in a country that requires you to have a home address for everything.

I was a weaver from 1997-2003 when I had my second daughter. The layoffs had already started so I chose not to go back. This was the best job I have ever had. Dave was the best to work for he didn’t work you like a dog and never treated us like he was better than the workers, he would come down on the work floor and talk with the employees and was so down to earth. He let you choose how much money you wanted to make, there was a quote we had to reach each night (I was 3rd shift) which was minimum wage but if you wanted to make $100 or $200 a shift you could, you took your lunch when you wanted to for however long you wanted and as many breaks you wanted after all we were all adults as long as we met our quota for the shift it was up to us how much more we wanted to make. I lived in Dresden and it was a wonderful, beautiful thriving village full of life. I loved it there! Tami did this with greed and bad business choices. Dave was the heartbeat of this company and when he passed the company slowly died with him. I don’t think about it as much anymore but when I do I’m reminded of the happy memories I was so blessed to be apart of and then I’m just sad. So many so many ppl in our community were impacted by this and not just Dresden but Zanesville, Frazeysburg, Newark and much much more. The job losses, homes lost, marriages impacted and so much more. This wasn’t just a job for us we were like a family. I’m supervisor was like a second mom to me. Whole families worked there together and we met the ones we fell in love with and married there. We decided songs to each other that would play on the L T.V. We created friendships there and made so many fun memories. I could go on and on about great it was to work there but I guess it was something you just had to experience to fully understand but I am blessed to have had to opportunity to do so and if I’m ever in a position to run my own business I want to do it the way Dave did and treat my employees with dignity and respect. R.I.P. Dave we all loved you.

Times change. Yes the daughter Tammy didn't help things but everyone wants to blame her but not realize that the baskets were already not as popular as they once were before she took over. Look at old furniture, brown stuff they call it. At one time everyone wanted a fancy old piece but now it's nearly worthless.

Would it work to put green screen felt over them and then key in a random fake plate ? Or would different lightning outdoors mess it up?

Im so glad that I had the chance to visit there while it was still such a popular place to go. I couldnt afford the dishes back then, but now I can find them in thrift shops etc. I only purchase the ones marked made in usa.

That's hilarious but I get it sometimes our technical devices made to make everything easier can make everything more terrifying lol.

I delivered food there for John Sexton Company .It really was a great place !

They had a really nice resturant there ,too.

I have baskets that look like that building still in the box hoping to sell them

I remember these baskets like a status symbol. Then we went to Germany and discovered Polish baskets. 1/4th the price and made well. I have 2 Polish baskets. They are like gold to me.

This is such a sad story. 15 years ago I married a Longaberger widower. His late wife had collected them and I was surprised how heavy duty they were. Being an old hippy from the west coast I’d never heard of them but give them great respect. We have Longaberger laundry baskets, tissue boxes, trash cans, picnic baskets, pie/cake takers, some of the dishes (which, with my arthritis, takes both hands to lift) and numerous other items. I wish things had turned out differently for this “family” business.

Popeye died and his daughter ran the company into the ground. I live in the area and know his nieces.

It is a beautiful building!

Should bring an Insurance Co., financial business or corporate HQ to occupy the building. Would be unique and just a little renovation and up and running.

I was a basket weaver for a couple of years. There was a big layoff, and I went elsewhere for work. Sad that they went out of business.

They are very proud of their merch. The overpriced themselves then made up they would appreciate in value

ugh. they were so tacky and overly expensive 😂 yes, we all need a basket that fits on stairs to put things in to take upstairs, that we won't notice later, so it just lays there, in the dumb stair fitting basket. those ridiculous purses were a flashing alert: this person will book a mlm sales party!!

They were outrageously priced. I thought they were wonderful but I couldn't afford them. They were handcrafted in America when that meant something. 😢

I worked downtown at the Place off the square 1998 -99. We were treated badly and our paychecks were always Wrong I.met Dave and his.2 daughters After he died from cancer It completely fell apart I walked out... The.rest.is history

I used to work with a woman who had a severely disabled son, and he couldn't demolish one of those baskets. That's a sign of TOUGH.

I had bought a few of these, they have the initial of who made it and the year. Mine are from the 8Os. I still have them, they were made really well. My daughter used the same basket every year for Easter, so I gave it to her when she was an adult.

We live about 20 mins from the basket. What happened? Greed.

The value of these baskets have plummeted. I remember cataloging all of my mom’s baskets for her regular baskets,signed, baskets, miniature collectors club baskets, pottery, liners , lids. You name it she had it. Truly sad that Dave’s girls destroyed the business and a lot of the lively hoods of the people of Dresden.

Took a bus trip to the basket and dresden. That would make a great home!
