Im looking at coverting an dr350 1991 model to Hub EV at moment, i have just completed a klx250 super moto to EV qs138 em260s voltol contoller and 72v 48ah battery full certified for road use and registered in Sydney Australia. The hardest part was getting an engineer to certify my work. What controller did you use

That controller is a little too small for the 273. On the 205 if it's a 5k it would be good. 3k it would be very responsive but if you go a long ways at high speed you risk cooking your windings. Use field weakening when you hit the wall where you can't go faster. That is it's purpose, just don't over do it because it makes a lot of heat when you pass the point of what the motor can use that power is expressed as heat. Field weakening allows you to exceed the rpm limit of the motor so you trade torque for higher top speed. I was using a 72680 with my 273 but I'm gonna kick that to my 5k 205 and go to a 96680. She he able to hit about 90 or so, maybe more. A steering damper is a wonderful thing, I highly recommend you get one if you don't already have one. It's a must have over 80, that and motorcycle tires, or at least on the 273 wheel. It's a 40 pound hub motor, the thing is a beast. Have fun, I know I do. Wheelie at almost any speed even with a big hub motor up front. Ridiculous power, but so fun.

NICE clear vidio, on how to build one this light, THOUGH 50 60 MPH is just to life altering speeds to drive on roads in traffic, I would drive it in a empty parking lot or a race track all going same direction, with same type e bike competition, I am thinking of building a 10 or 15 thousand watt motorcycle bike on a light weight true motorcycle frame, THOUGH BE CAREFULL, we need your excellent reviews on how made E-BIKES..THANKS

Nice experiments. Ergonomics, wind resistance, tires, waterproofing & frame seem inadequate for this amount of weight/power. My setups vary by make, manufacture & design. My most agile has a combination steel & angled coil over, which combined with powerful regeneration & weight distribution, corners like is on rails. Unfortunately, for this setup is the location of the 72v & openness of the wiring…can never have too much water protection, especially on an electric bike. Lastly, I’d imagine these types of e-mtb builds to evolve in terms of seat ergonomics & comfort. Gone seems the use or need for pedaling on open canyon/curvy roads. I’m waiting for an individual or company to come up with the perfect hybrid that mixes the use case for those that want the option of physical exertion of the combined lower extremities.
