I'm in my late 50s and I still have nightmares about the school I went to in Ireland my nightmares are filled with black robed figures nuns are nothing more than evil incarnated in human form I will never forgive the school I went to for what trauma they've given me in adult life

Those nuns were so ashamed by their own actions they didn't talk to this guy. They can brush it away with 'you couldn't possibly understand' but it is, absolutely, shame and guilt for what they did to those women. They should feel that. There is no penance for causing the deaths of all those women and giving them no proper burial.

What defined 'misbehavior'.

It's interesting how nuns have the stereotype of being strict to the point of cruelty, while priests have the stereotype of being nonces and pervs - All protected by the Catholic Church organization.

What is the difference between Hell and the Magdalene Laundries? Ireland was a theocracy instead of a democracy. Priests raping young girls and impregnated them and didn’t suffer at all. This man being interviewed seems to almost be believe the BS that this misogynistic church. The Church needs to be held accountable to all the people that it harmed.

Its so shameful, these supposed men and women of God will be held to a higher standard. The atrocious committed by the catholic church shock me. I was raised catholic and my family still us, but i can no longer turn a blind eye to the perversion and twisting of scripture and the horrors committed.

I live in Liverpool, just across The Irish Sea ... we embrace The Irish as they have settled here and become us as "Scousers" I love the Island of Ireland and its people. However on watching the film "The Magdalen Sisters" I was ashamed of what The Catholic Church did with the support of Government in Ireland ... what hurts All The More is this ... The People knew what was happening! This throws a Very Dark Shadow on Ireland and its people!.

They have a movie called The Magdelan Sisters. Very good based on this

Catholicism AND ANY OTHER CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION AS WELL AS OTHER RELIGION/CULTS makes me sick to my stomach. I am proud to be an atheist (anti-theist) wishing for liberty of beliefs OUTSIDE OF ANY ORGANIZATION (Political & Religious). Cults, sects and Religions are all the same in my opinion; the indoctrination, power and control they claim or hold are NOT and were NEVER socially moral/acceptable at any given time or in any given society/community and under no circumstances.

The nuns in this video have short memories, and have behaved like sociopaths. They should have been held so much more accountable than they were. They should have been jailed. Their words were nowhere near enough to account for such heinous atrocities. Ignorance is not enough of an excuse to treat people abhorrently. I cannot believe their nerve.

I had an aunt in the good shepherd in Limerick. It was horrendous and unfortunately it's a class based sympathy. Most people in Ireland have no compassion like the government who decided that anyone who spent less than six months in a home will not get redress. That is the rot at the heart of government and some well off Fg supporters. They despise the poor and sick. Varadkars legacy is one of cruelty and heartlessness.

I wish the world know about Ireland's Concentration Camp, orchestrated by the Hierarchy of the Catholic Church. For all the women and Children who were victims of these religious savages, may Justice prevail. What happened to Peggy McCarthy is heinous brutality, beyond comprehension by God's Servants.

Thank you for uploading all these documentaries. I recently watched The woman in the wall and started reading more about the Magdalene Laundries, and the mother and baby homes. I'm from Norway and had never really heard about this other than hearing about the systematic abuse of children perpetrated by the Roman catholic church in their childcare homes. Norway does not have a large catholic population, and is considered a protestant country despite most of the population not being particular religious aside from certain small knit communities on the west coast of Norway. Having not been exposed to religious teachings as a way of living, its shocking the things that these documentaries have revealed to me. One of the most gruesome facts I've learned is how mothers who were separated from their children, were told that seeking them out or if they sought them out, they were told it was a mortal sin, and so many mothers ended up not seeking out their children, or allowing contact with the children who did found them. What a tremendous tragedy, it absolutely breaks my heart. Thank you for taking the time to continue sharing this important historial information.
