In early 2024 I decided on heading out to the Adirondacks and start climbing high peaks with the ultimate goal of becoming a 46’er. By February, I had everything booked, then spent the next 6 months devouring information on the area and making an itinerary that evolved as I learned. Not having elevation to train in, I decided to have a general plan and just go out for my first hike, and I had enough information to figure it out day by day.
I arrived in the Adirondacks in mid-September and had 7 days to hike. My plan was simple: as long as the weather was good, I was going to be out hiking high peaks. Every one of those 7 days was perfect, and I was able to summit 17/46 in that time. This video is high peaks 11-15. It was a beast of a day hike and ai loved every minute of it.

My Route: Starting from the Garden Trailhead I took the Phelps Trail passed by Johns Brook Outpost then up the Orebed Brook Trail. I ascended Saddleback and did the .5 out and back to hit the summit then over to Gothics, Armstrong, Upper & Lower Wolf Jaw before descending down the Wolf Jaw Trail back toward the outpost. This was a challenging hike and was so rewarding to finish. I can’t wait to do the rest of the Great Range and someday attempting the Great Range Traverse as a dayhike challenge.
