So if you buy a 10,000 mt2 plot to build a medium commercial smart center it takes 300 business days to get a permit. OMG no wonder why Portugal is way far behind in development. Great content by the way :)
Thanks for the insights and for giving us a window on Portugal throughout the year. Have a great Christmas.
Feliz Natal!
As a born and resident in Setubal I should say that since the industrialization started in Portugal, it is difficult to find a place with more concentration of industries in the South of Portugal other than Setubal. You seem to confuse Setubal with Sesimbra and you place Setubal in some non existant Lisbon Bay. You might want to call it Setubal peninsula. For a long time, Setubal has been actually one of the richest places in the country. The derelict buildings have a lot to do with the thriving canned fish industry which colapsed after the 1960's. This industries included besides that, chemical industry, paper, cement and naval shipyards. You migh want to visit Setubal first ...before producing videos
Google maps confirms what you say. The marina photograph is Sesimbra. Which looks lovely. Setubal looking down from space, not so inviting.
The EU is falling apart. Prices , inflation is going up severely. The beaurocrats in Brussels prefer to give biilions to Ukraine for the war of the clown president.
Why you do not mention the local average salaries ??
I spent several days in Setúbal last May scouting and meeting others who moved there from abroad. Everything you say here aligns with my experience and take on the city. I walked all over it. It has a charming city center, great location, more affordable prices than Lisbon, but also a noticeable amount of neighborhoods further out needing renovation. Even in the better neighborhoods, there are buildings needing work, but those would clearly be good investments. I did very much enjoy eating fresh oysters and sipping local wine while staring out over Sado estuary on the waterfront.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Setúbal truly offers a unique charm with its mix of affordability, great location, and investment potential. The fresh oysters and local wine by the Sado estuary are definitely highlights. We're glad our video resonated with your take on the city! 😊
Thanks Savvy Cat. Information helpful. Thanks for sharing ❤😊
Thank you for watching! 😊
Love your videos. You are making it easier to decide on the area we are moving to. Very excited to move to Portugal.
Thank you! So happy to hear we're helping in your decision making 😊
In US they put addictive drugs in food in order people could not stop eating
Short answer: BECAUSE ITS FOOD AND NOT CHEAP TRASH WIT AROMA!
EVERY SINGLE EUROPEAN COUNTRY EATS BETTER THAN AMERICA, PERIOD !!!
Every other nation’s food is better than the food in the states. 80% is basically high fructose corn syrup…crazy to think about it.
because in the US nobody can cook and mainly consume fast food !
US is a corporation, not a country. A racist corporation btw.
Yes, the US food is substandard quality due to GMO and FDA corrupt to the bones. Besides in US there is no culinary culture. I would not praise the EU either because they are also very corrupt. The EU doesn't allow tho grow GMO but they let that garbage into the EU. There is no doubt about the food quality in PT. My only complain about the food in PT is the salt phobia. I had to salt everything and I'm not sure if because of the stupid EU regulations or generally Portuguese are afraid of salt?
It’s easier/better for you to adjust the salt in your plate, than to be served an over salted dish? Would you agree?! Just a thought
Better the EU regulations than having food too salty or excessively sugary, I think. It wasn't much difficult for you to add the salt at your convenience was it?
@@dsolangem I actually disagree because when you have to salt your food then you end up having more than when the food is salted properly. I use 1.6-2% salt, depending on cooked or baked and nobody ever complained about my food being too salty.
@@mariam.3224 Between the two evil I guess the EU is better, however, they also let way too many Exxx substances, meaning preservatives and colorants. It wasn't difficult to add salt but food doesn't taste the same when you after salt it, besides you will end up with more salt than what you need. I don't understand what would be wrong with properly salted food?
its not better in Portugal food is food in us food is a product us food has no flavour its lame
In Portugal my favorites are the meats, pastries and bread. In the US it's Mexican food. We've lived the the US Southwest for many years with incredible Mexican food. We're moving to Portugal in February so we'll have to grow the chilies and other ingredients that we'll need to make our own Mexican favorites.
Thank you for sharing! 😊 Portugal definitely shines with its meats, pastries, and bread. Mexican food is amazing too, especially in the US Southwest! Growing your own chilies in Portugal sounds like a great way to keep those flavors alive. Best of luck with your move in February!
Most developed countries have healthier food than the USA. It's the chemicals for profit model that's killing us.
Hi, I have some work in viseu for night i need to stay in any cheap hostel, do you know any of them Budget 20 - 30 euros
re: bubble tea I'm an american and usually have to ask for 0-20% sugar on those otherwise they are WAY too sweet
Can a couple with about $4,300 monthly passive income live nicely in Madeira?
Portugal has great food. Here in the north there is a meat culture and the quality in most of the restaurants is sublime.
Thx for this video. I have a question: I'm from Croatia, 50 yo, graduated from law school and I love Portuguese language and culture so much. And yes I'm gay. I have a "dream" to live in Portugal one day. So, is it problem to find a job there? Do I have to fluently speak Portuguese language if I want to go to work there? What working profiles Portugal need right now?
I appreciate you and I want to share with you some tips that you can use for your channel, I look forward to hearing from you.
I appreciate your very knowledgeable assistance!
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
I've heard that the average wage for locals in Portugal is fairly low, so how can they afford these housing prices? Where are they living?
lol 5500 per square meter for apartment in portugal. unbelieveable. young families will have to live with 2 generations under the same roof.
Will you be able to do the same for Setubal? Thanks 😊
Wonderful idea! We will definitely add Setúbal on our future videos 😊
Great info, thanks!
Thank you for watching! 😊
one of the best and clear image has been given by the cat, Cheers!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this useful information. Food, public transportation, and utilities all seem to be around 25% - 50% cheaper in Portugal compared to the United States, but the childcare blows my mind. It's extremely high here in the States. We pay around $3,300/month for 2 children. It sounds like it would be around $900/month in Portugal! Nearly 75% cheaper! I think that's probably the biggest difference that I noticed in your list.
Thank you for your comment! Yes, childcare costs in Portugal are significantly lower, especially in public options. It's one of the many factors that make Portugal appealing for families moving from the U.S.! 😊
The first time I saw snow was on the Algarve. I was five years old and was living in Tavira at the time. That was 70 years ago. It had not snowed there for a hundred years and I think it has not snowed there since the time I have just mentioned. By the way, my name is Filipa. Eduardo is my husband. This mobile phone belonged to him but it is mine now.
Thank you for sharing your story, Filipa! Snow in the Algarve must have been such a rare and magical experience. It's lovely to hear about your memories in Tavira! 😊

We were planning on moving to Algarve but found out we’d have to pay 45% tax on our social security pension so now we can’t 😢 Is that right?
Thank you for your comment! Social security pensions are generally taxed at standard rates in Portugal unless you qualify for special regimes like the NHR (Non-Habitual Residency). It might be worth looking into that to reduce your tax burden!
My family will be in touch. We have been planning for several months. Now we are speeding the plans up.
Anything we can assist you with in the meantime, feel free to reach out to us at contact@savvycatrealty.com We're happy to help! 😊
Thank you for this information! I hope to learn Portuguese before relocating so I can integrate smoothly.

Don´t.
Don´t
Bravissima!
Actually after the election, AMERICA is BACK baby!! Finally we can have our damn country back from the LGBTQ left wing mob psychopaths. Something EU knows too well but too scared to fight against this craze. TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP!
nope, don't move, period. Never run from, always run to. It'll never workout for you, you'll waste the little money you have saved and be unhappy. Remember you take you with you
I visited Portugal back in 2015. Absolutely loved it and I've wanted to return ever since. Honestly, at the time, I thought about the possibility of relocating. Lisbon wasn't so expensive then. The last eight years have only increased those thoughts, though I've heard horror stories of the impact American expats have made, especially when it comes to prices. I like what you're doing; trying to make the influx of expats more sustainable for locals, too. Sadly, I'm older and not very well off financially, so most countries I might want to move to would likely not be interested in having me. And I don't think my wife is on board with moving. So, I just watch videos about it instead.
Thank you for sharing your story and for the kind words! It’s great to hear that you have such fond memories of Portugal. We’re committed to making the expat experience more sustainable and respectful of the local community. Even if moving isn’t in the cards right now, we’re glad our videos can keep you connected to our lovely country 😊
I want to move to Portugal, but don't want a wave of liberal Americans move there and then spoil Portugal too. Stay in the USA !!
you are clueless, Portugal is already way more liberal than the USA, stay in the US, you're right on one thing, nobody here want you to do anything but a short visit
@@ji3946 talk about clueless, Portugal is actually very conservative and Catholic. When I visited Central Portugal, this past June, I did not see a lot of green or purple headed people. Changing gender, crying about how the world is going to end in 8 years if we don't stop eating meat etc etc. It is funny how you speak for the whole of Portugal....?
@@leonnaude19 Not the whole, the majority. Why don't you move to a RED state? It'd be much cheaper, less red tape and you don't need to learn a language because you already speak like a true red. You're confusing Catholic and conservative here in Portugal with Evangelical MAGA and judgmental in the USA, two very different things. Plus it sounds like you don't know any younger(less then 40) people here. Folks less and less trust the Roman Catholic church, doesn't mean they don't believe, just means they live and let live. This doesn't suit you, because you're not even here and you have a grudge with people
Portugal has many socialist programs in place. Why would you want to move to Portugal??
@@ji3946😮😂😂
Health care.....have to wait almost a year to see a Dr.specialist and Private is too expensive!!
How expensive??
Good luck if you think that you come to a better place....think again!!
You disgust me with that red hair…. Yes i am Portuguese male.
Es um idiota, this comment is coming from a Portuguese man. You may be male but you're not a man.
Claro que alguém que se chama Cipriano vai dizer uma coisa dessas!
a rapariga pode ser do benfica.
You are also a very unkind human being. And that is a shameful thing to be. Do better.
All of you crying about the election, go ahead and leave. No one will stop you, and you won't be missed.
Election night was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him, and guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too-they just don’t realise it yet.
Bye, bye...won't miss you either!
