This song was written in a reflective time. It was inspired by my considering the connections between myself and Ishmael after reading the story of Ishmael and Hagar.
Hi
Awesome! Our tears bring forth great things. 🙏🏻❤️
Very meaningful. It's a genuine expression of a soul.
Thank you
I don't have a problem with the depiction of the actual clips and photos used in the videos. I do have a problem couching this in the language of Critical Race Theory. CRT is designed to increase racial tension between people of different color. It says white people have privilege and black people can't succeed without tearing down whites. Instead of sowing contention and distrust, we should be working to point out the things we have in common and unite with common goals while acknowledging our history and working to improve the future. Schools and business that have incorporated CRT ideals have experienced seriously bad results. CRT doesn't solve problems. Race is only skin deep.
I love how everyone is still stuck on racism when the gov has the so called woke in line to teach the kids pedophilia ideas and babies that's minds haven't even became conscious yet that it's ok to change your sex. But yet you have to be certain age to smoke drink drive stip clubs exc.....social media has the woke really asleep crazy huh
ᑭяỖmo𝓼𝐦 💥
Race relations in the US were steadily improving over the decades until Obama decided to divide the country along racial lines, then gender/sex. That is the inconvenient truth that no one on the left is willing to accept. Obama is the root of most of today's problems. He could have been a uniter and chose to be a divider. No one put a gun to his head. I regret voting for him in '08, I feel like that vote was the worst thing I've ever done to the black community. Obama was a disaster for the black community. An absolute disaster. He put black people back in chains, figuratively speaking. He opened old wounds and poured citric acid on them. Cemented the 'us vs them' narrative by accusing white Americans of being born racist. Pulled the rug from underneath successful black Americans and made them feel like they're nothing more than slaves living in a cruel., white world. And now we live in Obama's world, where it's ok to discriminate against white people. Where racism only exists within white people, that black people are incapable of being racist or bigoted in any way. This isn't how you fix racism, it's how you create it. What was Obama's motivation? Probably spending almost two decades listening to Jeremiah Wright's racist, anti-Semitic ramblings and then going on to hang out with the most radical elements of the left in college. What's amazing to me is that he was able to hide his real political ideology so well to the point that the majority of Americans trusted him and voted for him. He was arguably the worst president of all time, not just because of the divisiveness of his political ideology but because of his incompetence and cowardice on the global stage. So when you hear about how awful Trump is, don't forget how we got here in the first place. And when you hear things like black unemployment levels at an all time low during the Trump years, maybe it's worth reflecting and considering that Trump was never the real enemy, and that the black community is no different from any other community and when unemployment numbers drop and people have more money in the bank, they're happier, make better life decisions and can offer a brighter future to their children. Trump did that. Obama did not, and I think most honest black people, particularly those living in Chicago, are no fans of Barrack Obama. Or Lori Lightfoot. Or any other woke politician who treats black people like hapless children who can't amount to anything without government assistance and openly discriminate against white people, Asians, Jews and any other group that is deemed "privileged". As if this is a zero sum game where one group needs to be knocked down a few pegs in order to lower the standards and allow another group to be successful in the name of 'equity'.
It seems as though white people shouting BLM and white privilege have just discovered the plight of black people, and the concept of applying the golden rule to them or being Christlike toward them is some new concept that they feel the urgency to tell others about, and they get mad at those who have always tried to apply the golden rule and be a good Samaritan to everyone, and say all lives matter. Neither group is wrong. And all of us guess what? Poor Haitians are just a stone's throw from the U.S. and what are we all doing to help them?
When a homogeneous area for the last, well since they drove the 'locals' out some 200+ yrs ago ( prob not many locals there ), gets some color, people freak. It'll take time OR they will continue to fight for their homogeneity and depending on who is president, the justice dept. will continue to fight them.
just follow the ten commandments
If this somehow offends you, you’re a part of the problem.
Since human beings have a tendency to look for divisiveness from each other based upon factors such as ethnicity, race, culture, politics, gender, religion, language, nationalism, etc., I appreciate efforts such as this to remind people of the injustices that occur and try to correct it. My concern is this video is so limited in showing mistreatment to just one group. Although it is an atrocity what has happened to this group within the U.S., perhaps let's not overlook the atrocities done to other groups within the U.S. if we want to create mutual and joint respect. I feel like other people and ethnicities who were also mistreated should not be overlooked (like the treatment of Chinese whom were often valued even less than a slave). This video seems to ignore the race issues in the 400 year history of this land also occurring. Just another layer to consider in trying to recognize how we can all learn to sympathize with each other.
That would be a very long video. I think the artist did a great job showing a bit of this sad history. I'd love to see other artists making videos and music about what other groups have gone through, but the fact that they haven't yet doesn't diminish the trauma black Americans have endured, or mean that all Americans shouldn't be taught about it.
If this was a video directed at the mistreatment of a white inclusive group such as the LGBTQ , child bullying, sexual assault etc would you say the same thing? Furthermore, you can’t just speak about injustice as a whole because people suffer in different ways, have different histories, and there are different degrees to which they suffer.
Dislike
Is this true?: America is one of the most racist countries in the world. Or: Millions and millions of people of color are trying to escape their own countries and come here because it is the best!!! .... think about it.
For those of you who fancy yourselves as "anti-racist" warriors and feel it is your privilege and duty to call out other people for their racism, you are doing FAR more harm than good. Here's the problem with this video: it's an editorial set to music with a bunch of historical images. Just teach the history. Kids aren't dumb. They can figure it out. Instead of showing them this video, show them the original "Roots" mini series so they get an idea of what slavery actually did. Show them the footage of demonstrators being hit with fire hoses. Just teach them history without editorializing it. They'll be much more receptive. The way you're doing it now is actually resurrecting racism.
I disagree. This video isn’t telling the story it’s telling the solution. Which is to hold racists accountable and identify tendencies within many people that are caused by ignorance or a lack of understanding
@@rachaeljohnson229 the problem is that you have to define what is “racist” and what it means to hold someone “accountable” for it. The word “racism” is used by people as a weapon against political opponents. (See Jussie Smollett).

What a ridiculous comment. The vast majority of people in this country are not the least bit racist. Most people don't care at all about the color of your skin and truly judge based on character. Assigning privilege based on skin color is divisive and false. We need to unify, not divide. Shame on you for calling people racist for disagreeing with being called "privileged" or not according to skin color.

Is this a dubbed song from a South Park episode? People on both sides need to grow up and just treat people equally and with respect. IDGAF what my father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc, did 400 years ago, I will not be judged for the sins of my fathers but judged on my deeds in this world. "No two things on earth are equal or have an equal chance. Not a leaf, not a tree. There's many a man worse than me and some better, but I don't think race or country matters a damn. What matters Colonel ... is justice. Which is why I'm here. I'll be treated as I deserve. Not as my father deserved. I'm Kilrain, and I damn all gentlemen. There's only one aristocracy and that's (taps head) right here"
I dont get why this was such a big deal on the news.. its a look back through history and how some things haven't changed. Racism is a thing, not a good thing, but a thing regardless. Are people just upset that they witnessed racism throughout history? Isn't that one of the great things about history, an opportunity to learn and grow?

@@missmegan3694 I think it's established fact that a student felt comfortable going to school in blackface, and another in Klan regalia. While I understand you might think there isn't a racism problem those two students showed you otherwise. Even if things are as you think, it looks like they may be changing, and these things are best nipped in the bud.
@@mandyc8437 Two problems. TWO out of hundreds of students. Dressing up as another race only became "offensive cultural appropriation" very recently, and, although inappropriate, the two students wearing "KKK regalia" were a black student and a white student wearing robes and carrying torches "as a joke" together. You are a victim of mainstream media if you think that racism is widespread, especially amongst white students. Both Pew and Rasmussen came out with research studies in the last few years that showed that white people are the least racist race by far.
Why is it so hard for so many people in UTAH to be nice? Black Lives Matter more than White Peoples feelings about this video/song. I recognize my Ancestors has 9 slaves that were Black so my Ancestors contributed to generational trauma for those Black People and their Descendants. I do condemn it and it makes me sad but I do not feel guilty or uncomfortable. I feel and know it is necessary to tell the truth about this History and examine the present situation. We do see Racism and Police Brutality because of the blessings if technology. Rodney King in 1991 was the first recorded incident as he was beaten by LAPD Cops. Black Lives Matter.
Because a significant portion of the state's population still believe the prevalent cult myth that brown people got that way because their ancestor's were cursed by god for being evil, and that good people aspired to be "white and delightsome." It's apparently really difficult to be nice to people who don't look like you when racism is still taught from the pulpit on Sundays.
Believe it or not - I recently had a conversation with a Black woman who moved to Utah from Atlanta, Georgia. When I asked her what surprised her the most about Utah, her reply was that she was surprised by the number of White people who were willing to help her. I was at once proud and sad - proud that she found so many White Utahans willing to help her, and sad that it was even a consideration or something she thought about. Don't get me wrong - we can and need to do better. But I think acknowledging progress helps us stay motivated to continue improving, instead of feeling like all past effort has been for nothing and future effort is irrelevant.
My school showed this at an assembly I thought it was cool but everyone freaked out it's a little sad
That bologna isn’t taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been a member for the past 37 years and I have never heard your claim. Nowhere is that a part of church doctrine. Anyone that believes that black or brown people are inherently evil doesn’t understand the doctrine of Christ.

Song: Racism is bad, please be understanding and help fix problematic things rather than ignoring them. People in the comments: "WHY ARE YOU ACCUSING ME, SPECIFICALLY, OF BEING RACIST???"
So , when the truth is "uncomfortable" being privileged means you can simply discard what you do not like it or like the principal at the high school "apologize". Unfortunately, people of color can not discard the daily incidents of dehumanizing microaggression, the historical, systemic, systematic brutal, relentless racism. This country was built on the subjugation. enslavement, (free labor)abuse and oppression of Black and Brown people, I am so sorry that is uncomfortable. Imagine what is like to live it
Remember the victims of Waukesha BLM terror attack. That hatred was born in the same sentiment as this song. Why should white people participate in a society that can now openly hate them? Do these people ever look at themselves in the mirror?
yall in the comments really missed the point 💀😂🤦🏽
So all those Haitians and Central Americans crashing the border are coming here to be oppressed and live in a white privilege society? Get real. Africans have entire countries and a continent to flee to if they are so oppressed, so why is the reverse happening? Why do Africans from Africa come here and excel in our society beyond what our own African Americans achieve on average ? Maybe they were not brainwashed with this drivel and do not see themselves as perpetual victims.
@@alfredocarpaneto5976 because it is better here in some ways, doesn't mean we don't have other problems. And where'd I say I saw them as a victim if you read my comment and thought that maybe you gotta ask yourself some things
@@alfredocarpaneto5976 So you've named your account after a literal Nazi, and you expect me to believe you're not a racist? Let me walk you through this: all other things being equal, a black person has it harder in the US than a white person. That qualifier "all other things being equal" is crucial, because a rich black person likely it easier than a poor white person. Having it easier is called privilege. It's not something to be guilty about, but it is something to be aware of. It's pretty plain for anyone who isn't completely braindead how a person from an underdeveloped country would want to come here *even if* it was way more racist here than there. It just has to be better than where they came from.

White and delightsome disgusts me. BLM do matter. CRT should be taught in school. The book “Caste -Isabel Wilkerson” should be a required read and there was nothing wrong showing this video in a school assembly. It’s 2021 people we should know better and we don’t. It saddens me.

I grew up dumpster diving for food behind grocery stores. I didn't have console games, motorbikes, or go to movie theaters or out to eat. I chose not to let my station in life get me down and to be better than my situation. I studied hard in high school and worked 2 jobs while going to college. At times my monthly rent was more than my monthly paycheck. I have worked hard all my life to pay my own way. I have lived with POC as roommates. During my college years I have worked and studied with numerous POC. I have always done everything I can to help them. Not because they were black or brown or poor or needy or because I was white. I treat everybody as my equals because they are people. We all have struggles in life. You don't know me or my struggles. You need to be better.
This comment screams diseducation. White Privilege DOES NOT MEAN that your life was not difficult. I am white too, and went through just as much as you have if not more. Please do more education before making comments like this. Start with the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921.
