Hello! I am a full time artist and designer living in Louisville, Kentucky. I love horror, pro wrestling, and video games. I mostly create digital art as well as lots and lots of merchandise!
one week in january ❄️ packing orders, drawing, making comfort food 【ARTIST STUDIO VLOG】
hello! i'm trying to do more youtube this year as a new year's resolution, so i want to try making weekly studio vlogs. i failed already because january is already over and this is the only video i put out, but that's okay! here's a studio vlog, and kind of a "week in the life" type of video. different than my other vids but hopefully that's okay. i'm cooking food, drawing new stuff, looking at my new merch, and packing shop orders in this video. hope you enjoy! (BTW I WILL PUT SUBTITLES IN VERY SOON!)

why does my hometown hate me? POP CON LOUISVILLE ✧ artist alley vlog
มุมมอง 1.7K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Pop Con Louisville in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky was my fifth convention of 2023, but only my third con vlog because I forgot to film at ACEN and OMGCon. (Though my table display from the thumbnail was actually from Omgcon!) This was a first year convention and it left a lot to be desired, unfortunately. This vlog is a little shorter than usual because the con was boring and I didn't d...

HELLO! Lexington Comic and Toy Con in Lexington, Kentucky was my second convention of 2023. (It's also called LCTC, Lexcon, Lexington Comic Con, it's a long name so I think people just made up new names for it... I'm partial to "Lexcon" myself!) I also had a shop update the same weekend as the con, which is always a lot of stress and painful preparations. Join me as I unbox new keychains and ot...

Hey! Just saw your video and also saw myself in the background right at the start! I’m the one that talked with PopCon about coming down here in Louisville and said how they really need to do a con here. I feel the problem with Louisville is that while the city says they want a con, it seems that when one actually comes here they don’t tend to show up for it as much as you’d think. Hopefully you’re coming back to PopCon next weekend!
Thanks for this video review! I'm new to making stickers out of my art and I'm trying to find the best fit for me.
Awesome review! How would you describe the difference between the soft matte and frosted matte?
Thank you for this detailed video! I wanted to try stickerbunnies. Are you still using them today, thanks!
I still use them and still love them!! Hope you're able to try them!
@@glitchbat thanks for the reply! I'm ordering a sample pack now 😀
my goals also involve working on my mental and physical health so that I have the confidence to keep making art. I’m also really hoping to produce a lot of art because right now my catalog is really small 😅. Loved the vlog btw!
those sound like great goals! wishing you the best on working towards them 🤗 and thank you, glad you did!
OMG that Solid Snake Maid charm is AMAZING, i love it!!!!!🤩🤩🤩
haha thank you!!
I love watching your vlogs so if you're planning to do weekly vlogs I'm here for it! Makes me feel like you're keeping me company while I'm drawing hehe! This year I'm actually trying to work on comics too so I'm also looking forward to reading yours whenever that drops! I've already released one chapter of a fan comic I'm working on, but man... what I've found out about making comics so far is that it's an absolute b*tch and a half to do just because you have to be consistently working on it everyday and drawing the same characters over and over again 😆
haha i definitely want to shoot for weekly vlogs! i am so bad at planning and getting things done though so we'll see 🥲 but im glad you enjoy them!! and that sounds so awesome! comics are SO hard but when you're done with them it is the most satisfying thing everrrrrr. i'm wishing you so much luck on your comic!!!
so happy i found you, your store and art are soooo prettyyy. i'm for sure getting my hands on some stuff!! cheering for you!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖 also your vamps oc keychain is sooo scrumptious and i would die for some oc or fandom tote bags
thank you so much, i really appreciate it!! ❤️❤️ and super glad you like my ocs haha, thanks!
I really need to work on advertising my art more this year, social media has really been a pain the neck these past few years 😭 best of luck on your goals though!
social media is so hard!! i completely understand! thank you so much, and good luck to your personal goals too!!
I went to Louisville for a competition convention back in 2017 through SkillsUSA Nationals! I absolutely loved it there. We stayed at the Hilton, the one that was connected to Cellar Doors.
that's awesome! glad you had a good time here 🤗
This video just got suggested to me but i just realised i have so much of your stuff on my wishlists! Love your art so much
that's awesome!
Hay were do you get your keychains form?

If you are coming to LCTC24, I promise I will be there to buy something from you! I hate that this area can’t hold cons well! It is no fun to drive out of state for bigger cons! I want to attend this event, but it is close to the same time as HCTC and matsuricon for 2024!
i will be at LCTC! but yes i agree, cons in this area are so sad, but i'm so glad that lexington has a solid option! i'm hoping i can do matsuricon next year too but i'm sad they moved it to labor day weekend (because there are a lot of other events that weekend already 😥)
I wish I didn't live so far away from you I would love to shop at your booth in person and you can meet Chocomoose and you can bet I would be buying some stuff ^.^
someday i hope to come up there!
I was really hoping this one would *decent* especially y'all could use a good local show! But alas the Louisville curse persists
i think we might truly be cursed forever 😭
Are you signing up for next year? They just changed the dates to August 23rd-25th and they're at a bigger, better space, in the heart of Louisville according to them. I signed up for both PopCons because one is local to mine so I hope Louisville is better next year now that it's in a bigger and better area.
I will be signing up next year even though the dates are changed! i think it could be better in August since we have a large college population in Louisville, so a lot more people will be in town during that time. i'm unfortunately not sure that the location change will make a huge difference because it's actually only like 2 miles away from the previous location, but we'll see 😅 i do like the new location more though!
@@glitchbat well I guess we always have that risk when doing cons haha, some are good and some aren't but that's okay! It'll be my first con straight out of highschool (so far) so I hope it'll be at least better next year than it was this year! I'm really trying to get into doing cons full time so your videos are always extremely helpful in getting information!
@@losersweepers. yes it's definitely always a gamble! just be sure to keep your expectations very low for this one haha 😂 glad to hear the videos are helpful!
its so hard to find cons in this area ive noticed! Im a little further east of you, but every con we have ive noticed theyre always super empty if they do keep coming back after one year. A friend of mine and I went to conapalooza (Over towards johnson city area) and it was super empty/dragging and this was pre covid. it makes me so sad, because i want more opportunites in thsi area
oh gross yt shows comments as my deadname
yeah that's also true! very small events even if they've been around for a while 😭 the biggest one in kentucky is definitely Lexington Comic Con, which i think is pretty decent and very lively, and MTAC in nashville is also great in this general area. i've heard some decent things about yamacon in pigeon forge too, although it was still pretty small last time i went (in 2017 i think?) anyway yeah you're very right haha... (also fwiw your display name is coming up as xenubin for me! so you either successfully changed it or it's just showing up as your dead name for you (which still kinda sucks) but just wanted to let you know :')
@@glitchbat yamacon and robcon are both on my list to go to next year!! they seem pretty decent for the area, i dont think ive heard of MTAC though! the friend i went to conapalooza with has gone to both and has had mostly good things to say about them! (And thank you LOL i figured out how to change it finally)
@@xenubin MTAC is my fave! so i definitely suggest looking into it 💪 i haven't heard of robcon myself so i'll have to check that one out too haha!
I'm also heartbroken that Louisville has such a hard time keeping cons :( I'll cross my fingers for this one though!
it sucks so much!!! yes, fingers crossed 🥲
I would love (if possible and you feel like sharing) your sales figures for the shows in your vlogs. I've been enjoying you con blogs after I found your channel a few weeks ago and super appreciate you going over points like general staff organization, attendance numbers and things like that -- but it would be super helpful to hear some numbers for your weekends. Even if they were generalized.
i unfortunately don't feel comfortable doing that, i'm sorry! i just feel like sales numbers are so individual to one's specific business that i don't think it would be helpful to know. also as someone who's been robbed before, i don't like the idea of people having a general idea of how much money is in my cashbox at events :( but i'm glad you like the vlogs otherwise!
@@glitchbat no worries! I totally understand and appreciate the honesty. I still very much like your blogs and will continue to watch then 👍🏾✨
I love your water bottle! black with gold pattern. May I ask where you got it? Awesome display overall, I love the table runner idea. The pumpkin maid jumped out to me specifically, I really like that one. Thanks for making this video, it was fun to relive the artist alley from last year and see some stuff I missed :3 I got lanyards from mushabear and love them!
the water bottle is from Linus Tech Tips! www.lttstore.com/products/insulated-water-bottle-40oz And thank you! i love my pumpkin maid drawing hahaha. one of my favorites that i drew last year! that's awesome to hear, i love mushabear's stuff! and they're an awesome person too hehe

I'm so glad I came across your video because I've been checking to see every day to see if the tables have gone on sale. Your video reminded me to check today and the tables were on sale and I got one! (There weren't many left) I've never done the event before even though it's only about an hour or so away from me. I'm excited.
that's awesome, glad you were able to snag one! i think it's for sure worth checking out since you're close by, so i hope it goes well for you! (and hope to see you there next year!)
Omg you posted!! I LOVE watching your videos while i work! I just did my first artist alley over the weekend and have another market tomorrow. I'm so glad I have another of your vids to listen to while I sew 😭😭
awww that makes me so happy to hear, thank you! that's so awesome, i hope your artist alley went well and good luck at the market!!
I hear your room placement matters if you do decent or not at this show! I'm always on the fence because I'm 3 hours away for this one.
that definitely makes sense! (now i'm sad i don't remember where my table was this year............) my horror/halloween stuff were for sure the best sellers at this con so i think you could do really well here too, but i definitely understand the hesitation! i feel like every kentucky con is a gamble 😬
Babe, wake up, Glitchbat made a new video
Hey you all were our neighbors!!! I love your art. Sorry we weren’t so talkative I was so tired the entire time there. And yes, the disorganization was horrid as was the slow trickle of attendees they were letting in (the person checking the badges were studying each badge like it was an ancient tome and not checking for masks.)
that's awesome, hi there!! cons are so exhausting so i totally cant blame you for being quiet haha! and yes organization was so horrible, i hope it's better this year (but i know it won't be, it already isn't!!)
I’m going to youmacon this year and it’s going to be my first ever anime con that I’m going! Can I ask what exactly do you do at cons? And is it best to go all 3 days or just Saturday? I’m planning to go with my friend but like I never went there before and I don’t know how things are worked out over there 😭 I heard the con takes place in two buildings? could be wrong but I’m planning to pre-order tickets soon!
yes, youmacon does take place in two buildings! i don't know how familiar you are with detroit as a city, but the con is split between the renaissance center and the cobo center which is about a half mile walk between them. there are different things to do in each building! i'm probably not a great person to ask about what to do at cons because i *only* go to work, but you can buy anime/fandom stuff, cosplay with friends, go see panels that other fans put on, and stuff like that. saturdays always have the best things going on but they're also always super crowded, so keep that in mind! youmacon has had issues in the past with the time it takes to pick up badges so i might suggest getting a weekend pass just because you might spend a few hours in line to pick it up, and it would suck to miss most of the day you paid for doing that. hopefully that makes sense!
@@glitchbat thank you so much for responding!! 🥹🫶 I live about half an hour away from Detroit, so Detroit itself im not that familiar, but I think I’ll be okay! I just bought the weekend pass online for me and my friend! I’m really excited for it, I’ve been seeing plenty of negative comments lately which has been kind of worrying for me but I’m sure it won’t be that bad 😭 but thank you so much for responding!!
I'm thinking of going in november this year since it's decently close to where I live. I heard some rumors that the artist valley and vendors is cancelled (?) though 😭 Are the rumors true and would you recommend going this year? This is also my first con and so I'm excited but also have mixed feelings because of what people have been saying about this con.
well, so far nobody has gotten any applications for artist alley (not sure about vendors but i think it's true for them too!) they usually do applications sometime between feb-may, so the fact that it's almost september and we haven't heard ANYTHING is really worrisome 😬 even if the vendor hall isn't outright cancelled, it's possible that a lot of sellers won't have a ton of inventory since they're cutting it so close with planning. i think if you were attending, it could still be a fun time. sometimes it's just fun hanging out with friends in cosplay and chilling, or seeing fancy costumes, or just meeting new people who have your same interests! so it might not be a great "convention" experience due to the organization this year, but i think it could still be a fun weekend. hopefully that makes sense 😅 but i know it's also expensive so i definitely understand if you aren't feeling confident about going haha
Im just now getting into a convention after 3 years of not doing any, i love seeing the little things that go into other artists' prep, even seeing your suitcase lol. I just got star buttons, but i had them made by vograce, im taking notes on that button press setup!
haha i'm glad to hear it! thanks for watching, hope your star buttons sell well!
Back in the day youmacon used to be amazing, they made sure people got into their lines got to meet and greet the people they wanted to come up there to meet and it was about you know getting to know other people who have the same and Trust likes and values of anime that you've did and made the people who made a difference or impact in your life as a voice actor or voice actress. Fortune has been tainted with money-grubbing anyway they can if they cap the line and people aren't able to meet in the people they came all way up there to meet they get disappointed and then are told they have to pay extra more money out of their pockets and that money doesn't go to help the voice after you pay for the meet-and-greet with them because they kept the line. Instead that money goes directly to the pockets of those working the youmacon convention and that does a disservice to the voice actors and actresses whose run their time to come out there to meet their fan and as well as a fan who want to meet them because they's a literally half the line so that there's little chance from enough people to get there and meet their voice actor or actress people that inspired them or made a difference in their lives. It's to the point where even voice actors and actresses will actually have to pay workout money at the convention they were invited to, because they want to keep profiting off of the fans and the people coming to the dimension are only there to meet the voice actors and actresses so they'll do anything they can to sabotage that so that they can make money off of you in order for you to actually meet them and meanwhile those voice actors and actresses make no money off of that they don't get any Financial you know anything for doing that side gig of meet and greet after they convention is capped your lines and then the voice actors and actresses actually done going to set up a table or Booth to meet their fans because they never got a chance to meet all their fans and that's because youmacon has made it difficult for that to happen in the last few years. That is why they are losing a lot of people from coming to these conventions and a lot of voice actors and actresses are staying away from youmacon because they know it's not about their fans and meeting their fans anymore it's about profiting anyway youmacon group can do by charging fantaskey fees and making it difficult to meet and greet while they want to force you to see all these other activities they claim are offered their no one's really interested in them no one's interest in the gaming area or some other areas that they want to push up and they know that they can't bring in anything unique or new to their convention because they know that to do so would require money out of their pocket their money-grubbers who only look at profiting off of people trying to come up there to meet people that they they have never met before voice actors invoice actresses and so if they can't make money elsewhere they're going to increase that cost and they're going to drive away people from this convention and that's what they have been doing. They won't get veteran famous viice overs wanting to come to Younacon, because the more famous voice overs are aware by those they know and friends in the industry how Youmacon treats fans and how money-grubbing they are towards those trying to sell stuff and getting a table to do so, to capping lines early and giving very few times for the major voic overs meet and greets, and then tell fans after being capped pay $$+ juts to have a one on one photo and signing and that's price gouging towards sellers and fans. Not everyone can afford$$ to get a chance to meet veteran famous voice overs etc. It ruins it then for the fans, sellers and voice overs. Then when they try to 'hook in voice overs' to come to Youmacon they can't pay up for the most famous and those who have already showed up warn fellow voice overs they'd have to pay at the convention for a table that's not part of the deal just to meet all their fans, and as such they see Youmacon price gouging fans, sellers, and that they'd have to give their own money to get a table to meet fans is unacceptable so many voice overs stay clear for that major reason, as they don't like what Youmacon has become over the years and harmful to meet and greets by their money-making schemes and price gouging. So when people see people who aren't Anime Famous or not considered a Big Deal Voice Over, or someone who has appeared so many times they find its just not worth it anymore compared to back in the day.
love your pin design and the colors came out so cute!!🥹💜 I have a question, how do artists get reasonable profits from selling enamel pins? I see that they are generally priced at around $10-$12, just like you’re pricing yours too… the manufacturing price you would’ve paid for the ones in your video divided by 30 rounds up to $9,5 per piece 😭 mold fee aside, the unit price is $6.96 which is still very expensive 🥲 now I understand that you can get much better deals by purchasing larger quantities but even so it’s a bit strange to me that enamel pins are much much more expensive to manufacture than acrylic keychains for example, yet I often see acrylic keychains being priced higher than enamel pins 🤔 I’m just starting my own shop and I get that different product types can have different profit percentages but enamel pins seem to be the least profitable from what I’ve seen (unless you have a really big following and can order huge quantities I guess), yet so many artists make them lol!! I’m kinda confused about that, I just don’t really understand 😅
the answer is really just make them in larger quantities haha, usually there is a minimum order quantity at factories at either 50 or 100 pieces and they charge much much more money for ordering under the minimum. even with the company in the video GS-JJ, their price calculator shows that if you buy only 30 pins the price per unit is ~6.50 but if you order 100 pins it goes down to ~2.50. so while it's nice that they let customers order a low number to test out a new design, it's definitely not cost-effective long-term 😅 if i was spending my own money on these pins i would have gone with the 100 piece route, even though that's a ton of product. i wouldn't have to worry about restocking it for a while, and i am confident enough in the design to know that it will eventually sell. if you're new to selling your art, i would consider holding off on making pins until you've got some hard data on what kind of things will be popular for your shop!
awh thanks so much for the reply, it’s very helpful!!!💖💖 I see, so the price per unit drops quite a lot once you’re up into the hundreds! 😮 yeah I see how that would be the way to go in your case 🤭👌🏻 for me it’d definitely not be ideal lol! for now since I’m just starting out with my shop I’m sticking to other kinds of products and I’ve already ordered some acrylic pins instead! 😊 love watching your vlogs btw 🥰 hope you’re having a great day and thanks again!!✨✨@@glitchbat

unfortunately i have no idea! ;_; applications for artist alley usually go up in may (although in 2022 they actually went up in february!) but i don't think anybody has heard anything about this year yet.
@@glitchbat hmmm i checked a few places out and phew idk if there's gonna be a youmacon at all because of the state of youma rn alot of things aren't even up yet and nothings announced
@@skunkgirl456 right, it's wild! i keep telling people that i don't think it's happening haha. i really don't know what's up. i guess last year was chaotic and disorganized in more than just the vendor room! not sure how experienced you are with vending, but there are tons of other cool cons and events in michigan! i personally like JAFAX and Dokidokon!
@@glitchbat oh yee I know but sadly I missed the one for jafax (vendors wise) but hopefully I can do doki or jafax next year! I am going to doki this year but not as a vendor lol.
It’s open now! I think it opened September 3rd and will last until the 23rd
i love the button maker!! where did you get that one?❤❤
i got it off aliexpress around 2018! the brand is called "TALENT" if you want to look around though, i have seen them on alibaba too!
@@glitchbat thank you so much! I will definitely look around for it. The buttons look amazing!
This was such a fun and relaxing video. I’ve been having some anxiety real bad before bed these past few nights and when journaling doesn’t help, I watch stuff like this 😅 so thank you for helping to ease my mind! If I can ask too, so you make the circles for your tape or does that come from your manufacturer? I want to sell washi tape myself, but I’m not sure what will sell best! Also thank you for sharing that printer, I love that they’re women owned and a small business. I will bookmark that in the future as I want to do cons one day.
i'm really happy to hear that, thank you! i definitely understand the "watching relaxing videos to help with anxiety" so that means a lot! for the washi tape question, i actually get the circle stickers made from a different company that who makes my tape 😅 BUT i think that most washi companies will be able to do it for you, i just kept forgetting to ask about it lol!
Your table turned out so great!!! Love it~ Also seeing behind the scenes of someone who uses this methode to display is super interesting, because so far I see it come up more and more, but I never saw how someone prepared these signs. That's really helpful <3 In general I love watching other artists prep x3
thank you so much!! i'm really glad seeing the prep work was helpful for you! (i also really like watching that kind of stuff, hehe)
Yay I found your art channel! :) hello~
hello!
Where did u get the boards?
Whoops, im realizing it’s Reywind isn’t it? Sorry 😂 I’ll leave the comment up fro algorithm purposes
@@razxberrie haha yes i got all the new display stuff from the same place (though it sadly looks like Rewynd isn't selling boards right now!)
man i love your aesthetic!
thank you so much!
Nice hair! ❤ and those boards are so smart. But I’d be scared my dumbass would get them dented or creased cuz I can’t keep things nice 😭 how do u store then when you travel
thank you!! my secret for the boards is... i DO dent them 😎 hahah but anyway they're pretty sturdy for the most part, and dents and scratches aren't super noticeable! when i drive-travel i put them in a huge totebag and lay them on top of all my stuff, and when i fly-travel i put them in a closed-off section of my suitcase! (tho i have smaller ones for flying)
@@glitchbat oh! its nice to know that its not much noticeable 😆 I guess all the pretty charms are distracting as well hahahahaha
Such a cute new table set-up!
thank you!!
i suddenly started screaming while watching this cuz u are the person with the cool af lost boy charm fbdhdjskjaskl
haha yes thats meeeeee! glad you like it!
Omg a smaller con that I went to has the same issue they went from fb to discord and even to announce their artist alley open application they did the the day of last minute on a dead discord server… I get it’s volunteer run, but come on now and it opened in June not July like they said last year. Most cons it’s the beginning of the year too. I wanted to do it as the table seemed pretty affordable, but I want to have more online sales and product first. I’m sorry you had issues too.
i hate this trend of using discord for everything! it's definitely a useful service but i want the information to be everywhere, not just in one place haha. hopefully your convention will get their business together before next event!
I really like your table cloth and the banner you put over it that’s super smart and cost effective! I’m going to take note for when I want to do my own con!
thanks, and yes i highly recommend this method! it's a lot easier than pinning a banner to the front of your table 👍 also the one i'm using is called a table runner, if you want to look into making/designing one yourself!
