2001 Accord V6 turbo @ 10psi ***SOLD
By request, some driving, startup and full throttle pulls. This is at 10 psi, simply because it spins way too much (in my opinion) with more boost. I prefer the hard pull.

    I wish people did builds like this more often. The Accord Coupe, especially the ones made in late 90s and early 2000s, are severely underrated when it comes to modding potential. 10/10 build.

      Thanks! I agree, it was challenging build because it's not a Civic, therefore aftermarket mods are not available. When a build needs everything fabricated it's a challenge.

    My 2001 Ex-V6 Coupe is one of the cars I regret selling. There has to be a better way of vesseling the methanol than deleting the windshield washer system. Cruise control should be able to be modified using a vacuum check valve or a vacuum reservoir. I am in to GT cars, meaning Grand Touring, and I don't like to lose comforts or accesories.

    Thought about doing this but adding a bar across the the top with gears on both sides and putting a eyebolt to the bars going up for a rachet strap to keep it from going back and forth while cranking.

    Those rims were always the nicer ones from the 9th gen Accord that I liked. They’re just way too heavy tbh. An aftermarket set of aluminum racing rims will save a good 40+ lbs easily. You’ll be seeing a lot more moving after that, trust me.

    Andrew: I finally built my setup virtually identical to this as this video inspired me to do so! Here is what I did: I have a 6 ft. x 12 ft. dual axle trailer. I used 1.25" solid steel rod with matching pillow bearings and a 60 tooth gear (bigger would have been better). I used 1/2 inch solid rod above with matching pillow bearings and a 12 tooth gear on the crank assembly. I welded 2 inch square tubing on each side of the trailer with 1.750 inch tubing inserted inside of the 2 inch tubing for a good fit and then secured them in place with 1/2 inch vertical pins. This way the entire assembly is easily removable by simply pulling the 2 pins and sliding the assembly straight back and out. Very slick! I used a 6 ft. wide by 15 ft long reinforced polypropylene tarp material as a super strong drag-sheet. While all of this works in principle and I am very pleased with the entire project it will not move the 2 yards of topsoil that I intended this for! In fact, I can barely get it to move 1 yard of topsoil (approx. 1,000 pounds). The 1.250 inch solid steel rod bends in the center so badly that I actually felt the need to slip a 1.750 heavy steel tubing over it and welded the crap out of it at each end to the 1.250 inch rod. Imagine my disappointment when I found that IT STILL BENT! The only reason that I can think of for this would be that the 'drag-sheet' material (the tarp, or fabric or whatever else I have tried) is sticking to the deck of the trailer and causing this massive friction/resistance. I have addressed my trailer bed to make it very slick/non-stick in any way and the drag sheet doesn't actually seem sticky either. I just cannot understand what is causing all of this resistance. Andrew, you mentioned that you used your kid's trampoline material as the drag-sheet. Do you still think that this would be the best thing to use? I am at the end of my rope with this and for some reason the right stuff to use as a drag-sheet seems to be a well kept secret. Anyone?

    • @andrewshankle
      @andrewshankle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the trampoline fabric was strong, but not overly slippery. To make it slide as best as possible, I lined my trailer with Polyethylene Puck Board. Im not sure if 2 yards of topsoil would slide off that easy, that's a lot of weight. My setup wouldnt. I bet thats a good 3000lbs. my 1" solid rod did bent as well, and considered sliding another over top, but never got around to it. the bigger the rod, the harder it will be to roll, but not sure how much harder really.

    • @PJ-ee5mc
      @PJ-ee5mc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewshankle : I just received a sample of Trampoline material. It is woven from polypropylene which is what my original fiber reinforce tarp material was impregnated with with. This might be more slippery simply because it is more of an open weave and would therefore make less direct contact with the surface of the trailer bed but i'm not sure if that's actually a good thing. At this time my gear ratio is 4 to 1 with 12 teeth on the hand crank and 48 teeth below on the 1.25" rod (which has now been sleeved with a 1.75" tubing as I mentioned. I just received a 72 tooth gear to replace the 48 so I'll see how that feels. I think we did a good job with our projects here (you were the inspiration for this of course) but the real issue that remains is simply the friction between the drag sheet and the bed. All of the gears, rods and tubes beyond a certain point will not compensate for this. They will certainly assist but friction is what grinds all of this to a halt. I think that I will have to appreciate my setup for its ability to speed up the movement of a reasonable load or a light weight, bulky load like chips or brush. I also find that if I load thew trailer with 3 yards of soil I can drag half of it out of the trailer with my little excavator. Then I can crank the rest of it out and I have a spotless trailer that doesn't even need to be swept out. So I got that going for me :)

      Combination of spacing the engine Frame down a bit and also modified engine mounts. It was a challenge for sure
