I miss Gatekeepers. That whole idea of invaders, and people with powers of Gate. And the sacrifice it can cost to use it, even if you're doing it for good reasons. To lose your life or open a minus Gate. I used to watch it as a comfort show and as an inspiring show. I think we all have a Gate, too. You should find your Gate and oooooopen.
I remember crying to this series when it ended.

Sadly shun and ruriko did not end together in the future, from what few I read he broke up with her for her safety as she lost her gate powers and from a stronger enemy. But he knew she married and started a new life, so did he with his daughter as the main character in the next generation
yeah, how the first series ends did not even leave any clues as to why this happened to the couple. how terrible and saddening if you ask me! I watched the first series around 2000 and came to finally know how the two end up after nine years! my heart was broken as if having a heart attack or something when I finally knew it. i was floored when i asked myself why it took me so many years to know they have a very sad sequel.

the lyrics are totally a thing! REALLY romantic and passionate. talking about the two main characters doing some kind of past regret or something? i mean if you have ever watched its sequel that mainly talks about their daughter, you might feel it kind of talks about how the couple end up after the first series. really saddening actually....

I had this happen today, I was humming this tune but didn’t know what or where it was from. I searched high and low on my computer, hoping I can find what the tune was. The only thing I can remember vaguely was a girl looking at the camera. Hours later I gave up and went to sleep. Woke up later and decided to reminisce about old anime’s. Then that’s when I saw the same girl I had in my mind looking at the camera. Gatekeepers, felt such a huge relief after finding it.

Many years later, Shun is now known as Grand Caster Merlin of Fate Grand Order Babylonia, while Ruriko is now known as Saber Artoria Pendragon of Fate Stay Night.
When you listen to the song and see the picture of those hands coming together, I instantly think of Ruriko and Shun from Gatekeepers, and I'm certainly not the only one that thinks this way.
Sadly they did not end up together...in the new season, he had a wife and daughter that had the same gate power as him, and unfortunately he was said to have died.

i hear ya - probably not the only one who thinks so. been a big fan of this anime since two decades ago that used to keep re-airing on AxN all the time. lol but i never feel fed up with it, along with other awe-inspiring anime shows on this channel. i wonder if this song is ever used in any episode? i actually first heard it about ten years ago, never knowing of it before....
