Welcome to SideHustle Mowing, where Gregory and Jessica are embarking on an exciting new chapter in their lives! Gregory, recognized worldwide by his peers as one of the top photographers, found himself burnt out after 30 years of working with major clients and publications. With Jessica’s encouragement, he decided it was now or never to dive into lawn care.
After selling their spacious home in Florida, they moved to a 50-year-old farmhouse in the Ozarks with a larger property to maintain. Equipped with top-of-the-line electric equipment, they’re transforming their land while launching a commercial and residential lawn care business.
On their TH-cam channel, you’ll discover lawn care tips, gear reviews, transforming overgrown properties, and behind-the-scenes moments as they balance running a business, raising two kids, and managing their four crazy dogs.

Vlog #28 | 2025 Begins with the Final Stage of Our Front Yard Cleanup! Before the Snowstorm!
Welcome to our first video of 2025! We’re wrapping up the last stage of our front yard cleanup transformation at the 50-year-old farmhouse. With 20 years of neglected holly trees to cut back and a snowstorm bringing a foot of snow the very next day, this was a cold, high-stakes project. At 25° and rushing against the clock, we used the Greenworks commercial pole saw and string trimmer to clear the overgrowth and try to save these trees for a beautiful future.
This marks the final cleanup for the front of the house, and we’re excited for what’s ahead in 2025. Thanks for following along as we take on these tough projects-this is just the beginning of what’s to come!

Vlog #26 | FRONT YARD MAKEOVER BEGINGS! Finally! with Greenworks Commercial and Ryobi
มุมมอง 33321 วันที่ผ่านมา
We finally tackled the front hedges-something we’ve wanted to do since day one. These things were overgrown, scraggly, and just plain ugly. Tried pulling them out with the truck, but the gravel driveway said otherwise-just a lot of spinning tires and frustration. So, out came the Greenworks commercial pole saw to slice them down to size. While I had the pole saw out, I figured I might as well l...

The weather is going to get worse latter next week
You have a nice piece of property brother
Thanks, man. The kids love it 😀
Seems as if you went all in with the equipment, fully motivated, ready to go balls to the wall....then realized how hard it is and instantly got demotivated. Hope you find again that joy and excitement you had in your earlier videos. I will still be tuned in weekly (if you upload weekly) Midlife Stockman does make it look easy.
Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment-I really appreciate it! I just want to clear something up: I’m 100% as excited now as I was when I started this channel. This is the stuff I love to do, and it’s what keeps me going. That said, what you see is what you get with me. I’m not the kind of guy who’s going to throw on a fake smile just to make things look a certain way. If I’m out there cutting down hedges or clearing brush, I’m focused on getting it done. Not every video is going to be high-energy, but that doesn’t mean I’m not having a blast. In fact, doing this kind of work is how I decompress after a crazy schedule of flying around the country for photography shoots. And yeah, Midlife Stockman is awesome-he’s absolutely crushing it. I’m still pretty new to TH-cam, and we’re working hard to pump out videos while balancing everything else. I’ve got big plans for this season, though, and I’m really looking forward to getting even more done, both on the house and with the business. Thanks again for your comment-it means a lot to have your support! Best Greg
Could of tried winching out the shrubs off that big tree in the yard near that light.
Great Video… The yard is looking awesome
Nice ❤
Thanks Guys
To me, the moral of this story is that "pole equipment" has the worst packaging. And if you can't select the most intact item off the shelf yourself, you are likely to get anything. It's kinda like buying lumber.
Yeah, what are you going to do? The edger was by far the worst packaged-battery rolling around loose, getting banged up with scratches and dings. The pole saw, though, actually came in the best shape out of all of them. Not exactly saying much, considering how bad everything else was packaged, but at least it wasn’t a total mess! Thanks for watching, and I appreciate your comment!
❤
I appreciate your honesty, any feedback on Greenworks 82v product line really helps.
Nice problem to have.
Yup, that's for sure! 😆
thats a unit!! how many grease fittings does it have? i assume the front casters and hubs?
Thanks for your comment and to answer your question.Yes, sir, you are correct.
Happy Thanksgiving
👍
❤❤👍👍
Thanks guys
Thanks for sharing 😊
SHM, Can you give us an update? State of the batteries? Has any of them fried yet? Have you had to replace any yet? Have you noticed any of them losing some juice yet? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for asking! I’ve had the Greenworks batteries for around four months, with about two months of solid, heavy use. So far, they’re charging fully every time and performing flawlessly, even with frequent charges-usually once or twice a week. No issues or signs of wear yet. The Ryobi batteries, by comparison, tend to lose their charge quicker after a couple of years. It’s still early with the Greenworks, but so far, they’re holding up strong.
@@SideHustleMowing SHM, appreciate the feedback. I came across your channel randomly and have been binge watching the channel. Keep it up
Looks as if you are building a giant burn pile.
Yup, that's exactly what we're doing...
I thought I had too many EGO batteries at 9 total
Lol 😆 🤣
@ how did you get the partnership with Greenworks?
Batter up baby
Lol 😆 🤣
Will you have an off-season in Arkansas?
Thanks for the question! Yes, there’s an off-season here in Arkansas, but plenty to do-leaf cleanup, brush clearing, and getting properties ready for spring.
Congrats
Congrats? On what exactly? Did I just win the sarcasm lottery, or is there something I’m missing here? Fill me in!... 😆 🤣
@ I was saying congrats on your battery set up …
@@TheJacoNetwork LOL !! thanks man
I sure hope that's a paying job. You need to start making money with all that nice equipment.
Thanks for the question and for checking out the videos. Yeah, that job brought in some cash. Since the move, we've nearly covered half the cost of the gear already-not bad for a side hustle.
Covered half the cost already? I have been waiting to see some on the job videos I'm glad the equipment is paying off
Gotta love when ya got your rops up on flat ground
Yes sir
good job guys❤❤❤❤❤❤
Could you clarify the number of batteries that backpack blower holds and the Amp hours of each battery for the runtimes you obtained? Thanks.
I have the same blower kit. It holds two 8ah batteries. I get about 25 minutes on max power 45 on medium and 60 on low. But low power is plenty for blowing grass off a driveway. I’m also using there hand held blower(6ah battery) in my other hand with this and I have more power than any gas blower(1500cfm and 58 newtons of force).
@ecocutslawncare7913 Thanks for information. I suspected it held more than one battery pack but didn't know for sure. My son has a Greenworks Pro, but it only holds a single battery.
Thanks for your question! I’m not sure about the other reply, but here’s the scoop: on full blast, this Greenworks backpack blower runs a solid 40 to 45 minutes nonstop. When you see me using it in the video, I’m switching between low, medium, and mostly high speeds-and I get over an hour that way. Realistically, with two batteries loaded, you’ll get at least 45 minutes each time, and I’ve never seen it go below that. I use this blower all the time, and I have three of them. They pack plenty of power, but for serious fall leaf cleanups-especially when you’re facing layers a couple of feet deep-you’ll want more than just batteries. That’s where larger leaf equipment comes in handy, like a dedicated leaf pusher or a high-powered blower setup. For summer use, though, when it’s just sidewalks and driveways, these batteries last a full day or even a couple of days sometimes. Hope this clears it up! It’s a fantastic tool and definitely worth it in my book. Thanks again, and have a great day.
Great Video… Quick question what made you choose green works over other battery operated equipment?
Great question! Choosing Greenworks was actually an easy decision. After a lot of research, I kept coming back to Greenworks. Their equipment looks fantastic, and they’re the only brand offering a complete range of tools, from handhelds to mowers, all under one platform. They’re the second-largest battery provider after Tesla, and many other brands, like the new Stihl battery platform, are powered by Greenworks batteries. Plus, they offered a great promotion when I bought my equipment. With the bundle package, I got 90% of the handhelds and their batteries for free. It was a win-win for me. Besides, green is my favorite color!
I like that you’re putting the Greenworks equipment to an actual test with overgrown grass. Not many people do that and it’s cool because being in the lawn care business myself sometimes I am taking on overgrown properties and when the time comes to where I can’t use my gas equipment anymore bc here in California they already banned the sale of gas powered equipment unless my dealer still has the gas equipment. At least ik what can actually handle tough jobs. Enjoy the videos
I love my gas mowers but greenworks makes some nice looking equipment, I’ve recently demoed the Greenworks Commercial 30” and it is on the heavier side but I am sold on buying one now
Couldn't agree more. The Greenworks 30" looks great, and once you get used to the weight, it's smooth to handle. It's definitely a solid choice
@ my worker doesn’t like the weight either, but the cut quality was great and it bagged up leaves and debris really good, i actually had 2 demos the 30” Greenworks Commercial and the 30” exmark commercial, and the exmark sucked, you can’t use the self propelled unless the blades were on and it clogged a bunch and left behind a bunch of stragglers while bagging. The greenworks on the other hand really was impressive speed, runtime. Always kept the blade speed on max on both mowers. I think a couple days using it consistently then the weight will be like nothing
I have the echo DSRM 2600 56v and it’s good but I like how those greenworks Optimus ones looks.
One of the main reasons I went with Greenworks-solid performance, top tech, and they look amazing too. Can’t beat that combo.
So what do you think of the string trimmers? The power and runtime?
The string trimmer is incredible. With a 2Ah battery, I get about an hour and a half of run time, and with a 4Ah, I can go all day-around 14 standard HOA properties. Sure, bigger properties need more batteries, but I’d never go back to gas.
@@SideHustleMowing that’s actually pretty good, I’m looking forward to getting that exact one
Do you have link or name of the fingerprint pad lock? looks interesting
I don’t have the name or link for the fingerprint deadbolt lock right now, but if you search for fingerprint deadbolt locks on Amazon, it should come up. I’m also working on an Amazon page for all my gear.
Was it the mics or did the mower have a weird pitch sound to it?
Yeah, it does have that weird high-pitch sound-it’s just the blower doing its thing. But don’t let that fool you; it’s powerful, like having a rocket on your back!
@@SideHustleMowing I was asking about the mower's sound. There's like a metal rattle sound. You can hear it at 13:45. Don't know if it's the microphone or an actual sound of the product.
good job guys❤❤❤❤
😂🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
😆
Battery nightmare coming up!
Only time will tell, but so far, this thing’s been a beast and hasn’t let me down. If the battery starts acting up down the road, I’ll be the first to let everyone know. For now, it’s running strong! Thanks for watching.
How does it work with wet leaves?
It works just as well on wet leaves as any other high-end blower, but it’s way quieter. This thing’s got power to spare. Thanks for watching!
@@SideHustleMowing Thanks for responding… I’m a new subscriber to your channel…. I’m looking to start my own lawn care business Starting to buy my equipment now for next year
@@TheJacoNetwork Thanks for subscribing! It’s great that you’re gearing up for next year. That’s exactly what we did this year. We planned to be ready at the beginning of the season, but with our move and the delays that came with it, we’re also focused on next year now. If you need any tips or advice to make things easier, please don’t hesitate to ask. Are you planning to go all electric or stick with gas?
@@SideHustleMowing thx … I’m thinking of going all electric… I will definitely be watching your videos for tips and advice
I'm currently using this for leaf cleanups and it works great. The MPH is not as high as the BR800 but higher than a BR550 and the CFM is on par with the 700 but it feels like a 600 with a wide nozzle. It honestly works better than an 800 for leave imo
Good job guys
Good morning guys❤❤❤❤
