The Reintroduction of Double Deckers on the Route 88 | First Leicester
After over three years, the long awaited return of a full allocation of double deckers on the route 88 has finally happened, along with the introduction of the new routes 4E, 13W and 19 with First Leicester
Today has seen an allocation of five Wright StreetDeck Electroliners on the 88, this video is on First Leicester' 36622 on its first ever day working the route 88 to Leicester City Centre from Eyres Monsell, filmed down Saffron Lane to New Walk Centre, I'd also thought I'd film the upstairs for a better experience
Now this maybe just for the school terms restarting but hopefully this will now be the new look 88 which the last time was full decker was back in 2015 just before the KP51s had left, it's better for the route after the complaints of many (including myself) for the route being too busy for single deckers, but overall I'm happy this has once again happened for the 88

Alongside the 38 and 38A, they should never have been downsized in the first place. It was just an excuse to get rid of all the ALX400s before 2015 was out in my opinion, which was just ridiculous considering other networks didn’t get rid until 2020/21.
There was a period where some of the 65/16 reg Streetdecks would appear on the 88-88A when new but that soon disappeared once the B7Ls-B7RLEs took over the route with the occasional KP54 then later on the Saffrons of course.
I miss this bus so much!! Over the past couple of years I caught it most days to uni (at least up until withdrawal) and was by far my favourite.
Was definitely best in the fleet, glad Centrebus kept it going for as long as they did.

Wow I like what they did to that engine compressor on there and I rate that some of the Arriva E400s are still unrefurbished with this one and T186 to 193 still ain’t refurbished also the 250 is my local thanks for doing this

Did anyone notice the way the top half of the back bench moves differently from the bottom half? I think it's a bit disconcerting
Unfortunately the age is getting to this one now.
All of them had the classic back seat wobble as its bolted on different from the rest of the bus and so moves.
The one day I could have done with this NOT being on the 47/48 as well.
It was definitely a shock to see it appear on the route, thought it would never happen again.
It's still on the road that are that matter

Just done some research into the extent of what happened last night, and it seemed that 37447 was essentially destroyed because some people think they should be allowed to do what they want. This is just like DLA284 in Tottenham 13 years ago.
4760 is really struggling
It was really good this day, but recently has had overheating issues.

Nice catch. Better than 3764 the other night. Personally I think the MV02s were the best B7Ls, so this is good to hear about 66354. After the Commonwealth Games that one spent most its career in Somerset, then spent the last few years in York.
The MV02s were unique, I remember seeing them around in York and Leeds growing up, despite not having a KV02 preserved we'll still have an MV02 to experience which there isn't much difference between both batches, definitely will bring back some nostalgia to me from my childhood.
