Envy is apart of the Purgatorio Project. Which includes all those terraces being developed by different devs

hi im one of the devs for purg ^^ the structure of the campaign is a bit confusing for ppl who aren't in the discord so if you want more info the code is 4EsvKvdNGp each layer (terrace) in mt purgatorio is being developed by a different person Purgatory is basically hell with worse punishments, the good thing is that it isn't eternal and you'll be allowed into heaven if you climb to the top and face your punishment. The custom levels aren't based on the original book that much, like how ULTRAKILL isn't based on Dante's Inferno much either.

A lot of the environments remind me of Rain World, the upside down city is underhang, the part when you exit the airlock is the wall.

in E-2 the flying cube looking enemy is a custom enemy for the first layer of mount purgatorio and shows up as a boss in Rubicon

I'd suggest the other Project Purgatorio levels out as well. Those are Rubicon, made by Remphase including 2 levels (The last level has a broken boss though so do what you will with that info). Along with this is Indulgence made by Bongwater. However, I would hold back on playing Indulgence just yet as a pretty big graphics update should come out soon (TM). Also, to correct you in the vid, Purgatorio isn't just made by Raifu, but by a whole bunch of people, with Pride by Haphazardlylad, Hostility by Umm, Sloth by Aruug, Acedia by Valerie, Avarice by Roundcat, Prodigality by Doodleman, and Lechery/Earthly Paradise by Pkpseudo. A LOT of levels aren't out yet but will be out eventually, so don't you worry. I hope you really enjoy Project Purgatorio as much as I do, and I hope to see you play the other levels when they come out.

Alright, since you asked so nicely for it, lore synopses; Dante’s Divine Comedy as you know is where the base game’s loose inspiration of Hell comes from, but in the Comedy there are 2 other divine realms that serve their own purpose to the flow of souls in the afterlife; Purgatorio or just Purgatory, and Paradiso or Heaven/Paradise All of these realms have 9 primary sections to them, for Hell it was its layers representing the sins man can commit, for Purgatory its Terraces for also sins but ultimately much more forgiveable (we’ll get to that in a moment) and for Heaven its Spheres being the planets of our solar system (or those Dante and the rest of the world knew about back then) representing virtues, housing those with and without them (we’ll also get back to that) Hell doesn’t need an introduction I hope but ultimately something to keep in mind for this and for Purgatory is that these depictions of them are loosely inspired, not one to one, so no Dante did not write a giant modern city suspended upside down with railcannons firing out into the distance for Envy in Purgatorio. Purgatorio is what Dante made it to after reaching the bottom of Hell and… um… you don’t want to know how he left Hell in the poem. Purgatory’s function is, while negative like Hell, don’t really serve to punish its denizens, instead they’re meant to be as tests for those who sinned in life but ultimately did try to repent, failing to complete their penance before the end of their life. Ascending the Mountain of Purgatory is a sinful soul’s last chance at Paradise, and you are indeed going up. The fan project changes the names up because Purgatory’s terraces share like 4 names with the base game’s layers of Hell, but also I guess some to just be fancy. If you want to know the specifics of Purgatory’s terraces you can look them up but in the Comedy they are made up of the 7 cardinal, or 7 deadly sins, as well as 3 extra ones; 2 Anti purgatory terraces for incompetent or negligent leaders, and Eden, the Earthly Paradise, which is the reward for ascending through all the terraces of Purgatory and completing your penance. In this fan project the 2 Anti-Purgatory terraces seem to have been merged into a single “Rubicon” terrace and Eden is included in the level structure for a total of 9 layers for the campaign just like the base game After going through Purgatory Dante is then taken to Paradiso in the Comedy, where he goes through all of that, but this comment is long enough so if you want more information on that or anything just reply Hope I didn’t bore you too much, cheers

Rubicon (the layer that was shown on the terminal) is a level by the way, but I think it was made by different people (It's really good too and you should play it in a vid). I don't know if pride has a level yet though.

to get the challenge in e-4 done, you'll have to find shelter. it's a lit-up place when you first enter the upside-down city you'll be able to find with time. once you have the creature inside, bring it over to another lit-up area after you pass the mountain exterior airlock, enter the room with a rotund being and the rest should be clear.

You should seriously go and play the rest of these custom layers. There based of off Mount Purgatorio which is also in Dantes Inferno. It’s all one huge fan made project, but I only think 3 layers are out right now (envy being one of them)

The Envy levels are absurdly good, and ULTRABURST is too.

Would recommend ENVY and INDULGENCE. RUBICON would also be on that list but I believe an update to the game broke some portions of the levels in that one.
