You should charge more. It’s well deserved. You go to them, they do not take time out of their day to “go” to you and “wait”. No tow fee. Time is money. Save them time and convenience , pay you money. Mobile techs shouldn’t be cheap. Hauling tools, no lift, working on the ground, outside in the sun, filling gas, time of travel to each job. Cmon you better be charging over $180/hr on flat rate times. I hope this guy ain’t fumbling the bag this line of work will put you out if you aren’t paid enough.

Be careful with the mobile mechanics you call. I had one shorted a bunch of crap out to the point where it blew the side post connections off my optima battery. The guy didn’t know anything and started saying other parts needed changing. Then had to run off to get the part and charged for all that time. Mobile mechanics are sketchy. You gotta be careful. I’ll rather go to a shop that has all the equipment and experience from everyone in the shop vs a random mobile mechanic aka TH-cam mechanic

So in a month the fuel pump driver module is going to go bad, this isnt diagnostics this is educated guessing

No electric bill (besides charging tools) no water or heat or big air compressor. No shop, nobody to man the front desk. Save enough overhead and you can run with a much better margin.

Try renting a workshop/garage and see what that cost. Running a shop is crazy expensive

You are cheaper because you are paying directly to the fixing the car. Not to fire stone who then pays 7 other people before they buy the parts and pay the guy to fit 2 cents to work at the shop

I work out my garage. All the benefits of mobile with hardly any overhead. I hate doing mobile honestly because i have to load everything, then can't fit all the tools in my car, whatever i don't bring i will always end up needing and i don't have air. I want them to come to me so i can sit my lazy ass in my house whenever i wanna take a break as well. And they still save at least 25% over a shop, probably closer to 50% because I'm not fucking my clients like too many shops do
